The Great Kitsune's Avatar (Theory)
So in Universes & Unrealities, the players have avatars which consist of either cats or dogs in the Housepets Universe. While its easy to assume that because the Great Kitsune is the "Universe Master", therefore he wouldn't have an avatar, maybe he has one that we don't know about?
So from reading the comic, one of the easiest ways to tell who is an avatar (and to which player) is when the player is controlling the avatar's body. This is shown when a character's eyes change color, best example is Tarot:
As we can see below, Dragon has green eyes, Pete has yellow eyes and Great Kitsune has red eyes:
To show that Dragon isn't the only one who does this, here's Pete using King's mind (see King's eyes):
So from this, we can assume that if Great Kitsune has an avatar, then at some point when he wants to use it, the eyes will change to red. Easy enough, but aside from Tarot and King, which character has been seen with a sudden change in eye colour, and specifically changed to red?
Feel free to discuss.

The GM can't have avatar, it was said before.
And those eyes, like the red voice, are just rage level indicator.

Yeah the GM rule the only thing that negates the theory, although I think the "red voice" is different, mostly because red voice is more common to show rage or threat than eye color changing, I mean it's not like there's fire coming out of her eyes.valerio wrote:The GM can't have avatar, it was said before.

Although one could assume that Great Kitsune might not be a GM in a different game.

Re: The Great Kitsune's Avatar (Theory)
This particular game is between The Spirit Dragon and Pete, to determine which of them will control the gaming group. The Great Kitsune, as game master and arbiter in this dispute, does not have a specific avatar. He's more concerned with ensuring fair play and enforcement of applicable rules.

Also there is the minor issue that Bailey is now Pete's Avatar. I highly doubt that you would be able to take over another players avatar without their permission, and the decision was a bit of a spontaneous one, unless Pete planned for King calling him out with Bailey in the room. If so, then he'd probably have a ton of more likely scenarios planned for as well.

Much like how I just now noticed that Grape was about to be petes avatar in the game, I never noticed that myself.Xane wrote:Kitsune won't have an avatar but he may have "NPCs" he uses to mess the game up even more.
Nobody ever mentions that Kevin has red eyes when these threads come up...

So that explains Karishad's behavior. XDXane wrote:Kitsune won't have an avatar but he may have "NPCs" he uses to mess the game up even more.

I don't think even the Great Kitsune could explain Karishad

As DM, Kitsune has no avatar. But, he controls all the npcs...
Everyone who isn't an avatar is an NPC, so Kitsune controls the world!

Kari is Kari. He's not controlled by any higher order being, he's just Kari.

Maybe Kari himself is a higher order being but nobody realizes it yet.

Karishad is an enigma. A air bubble in the flow of the universe. Which is why I resonate with him in the arts of randomness and trolling.Amazee Dayzee wrote:Maybe Kari himself is a higher order being but nobody realizes it yet.

Don't tick him off or he'll troll you so hard your brain will turn to mush.

Karishad is controlled by a D100 and a table in the Universe Master's Guide Appendix.

That sounds legit.
Re: The Great Kitsune's Avatar (Theory)
Nope. To those of us who've known him outside of Housepets, when he's at his best, Kari is just Kari. He isn't controlled by anything, save his own logic.Arvetis wrote:Karishad is controlled by a D100 and a table in the Universe Master's Guide Appendix.

Well of course you don't because you are just too crazy and insane to use anybody in the game.

Re: The Great Kitsune's Avatar (Theory)
...Can I note that while typically a GM wouldn't really have an avatar of their own, they do tend to provide NPCs with needed PC classes for a time, and, that some do tend to have their own 'GMPCs'? Granted, Kitsune doesn't seem to have broken his own rules, but, then again, both Dragon and Pete have made attempts to subvert such things, and, even GMs have limited patience with rulebreaking and loophole abuse...
And, even Kitsune might occasionally have to burn some steam with similarly angry souls.

Re: The Great Kitsune's Avatar (Theory)
As has been noted on several occasions before, Great Kitsune does not have an avatar in this particular game because it is simply a duel between Pete and Spirit Dragon. He's there to oversee and moderate.
