The music of HOUSEPETS!
The music of HOUSEPETS!
Ok, we have just read the comic with the quote from the awesome 'Mrs. Robinson' by Simon and Garfunkel.
Can we have on this thread the rest of songs the that have been mentioned in these years? I own a title or two, but I'd really like to collect them all, given that Rick got really good taste in music!
OK, edited title to something more appropriate
So far, our favorite soundtrack consists of:
PURPLE PEOPLE EATER - Sheb Wooley
THE MUSIC OF THE NIGHT( Andrew Lloyd Webber) - MOONLIGHT BAY (Percy Wenrich/Edward Madden) - MOONLIGHT SONATA (Ludwig van Beethoven)
WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD - Louis Armstrong Gives the first arc with King its title
YOU'RE A MEAN ONE MR. GRINCH
SYNDICATED, INC - 'Weird Al' Yancovic
FLUTE AND HARP CONCERTO IN C, K.299 - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
TICKET TO RIDE - The Beatles
ONCE IN A LIFETIME - TALKING HEADS
THE IRISH WASHERWOMAN - Irish Jig
RED RED WINE - Ub 40
SWANEE RIVER - Stephen Foster
MRS. ROBINSON - Simon and Garfunkel
LET'S GO CRAZY - Prince
And then DEVO and QUEEN deserved their own mentioning
If there is anything else, I'll gladly add it to the list!

Re: The music of RICK!
Well there was mention of Devo awhile back.
Y'know, the New Wave group from the 70's and 80's who wore the funny looking hats.

There was a reference to The Beatles in this one-off. The song is "She’s got a ticket to ride”

Re: The music of RICK!
Well, if we decide to go with ALL the music and songs then i guess this spoof song counts too.
I'm sure y'all remember the housepets rendition of "You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch,"from a few years back.

Wow, a good amount of these titles/songs are ones that I have barely heard of, if at all.

Wow, Rick was a fan of Wierd Al Yankovich years before I even came to know about him!
I don't know what is that which I'm feeling for Rick right now,
But if that isn't loooooove,

Same here. Also, I think a certain strip's title was "Red, red wine", wasn't it?D-Rock wrote:Wow, a good amount of these titles/songs are ones that I have barely heard of, if at all.

Re: The music of HOUSEPETS!
Hmmm, you may want to add this strip as well, since its title and alt-text come from "Once in a lifetime" by Talking Heads.
Yes, that is about the best thing to write that I could think of.

Re: The music of HOUSEPETS!
The arc named "It's a wonderful dog's life" has a few song name it's strips.
The title of the arc could be a reference to "Ah, it's a wonderful cat's life"?

Re: The music of HOUSEPETS!
For most strips, I'd say Yakkety Sax works just fine.

Someone with HTML knowledge should make a page for viewing Housepets! strips with Yakety Sax looping in the background.

More? I've updated it so that you can loop any embed-able song from Youtube and allow for you to collapse the new bar and stop the music. I've also temporarily preset some songs there (suggestions would be nice).

Re: The music of HOUSEPETS!
The Mozart is possibly the most hilariously out of place thing I've heard! Thanks for making Housepets even funnier.
Being good pays off. There's a nice view up here on moral high-ground.

Re: The music of HOUSEPETS!
Thanks guys! It was really fun making it (especially the part where I check whether it loops or not XD). Well, if you have any suggestions or features to add I'll be glad to add it.
Edit: By the way, if it does not play, try clicking play again, it might not have loaded properly. If it still doesn't work, then the song's probably copyrighted and cannot be embedded to the page. XD

Re: The music of HOUSEPETS!
I'm thinking some Frank Sinatra would be appropriate. But I'm at work do I can't come up with songs right now.

Re: The music of HOUSEPETS!
To be honest... yes. Let's just say that I rarely listen to music in most other genres except for alt rock. XDSleet wrote:Please tell me that's not the only jazz song you know.
Well, those are just placeholders, and somewhat random songs. I was hoping for song suggestions so that it can be something like a mood/theme based choices. Like Yakkety for comedy/slapstick/random, something for action, something for drama, etc.
I think the only Frank Sinatra songs I know is My Way and Strangers in the Night (from karaoke).Cerberusx wrote:I'm thinking some Frank Sinatra would be appropriate. But I'm at work do I can't come up with songs right now.

Re: The music of HOUSEPETS!
I not sure if I should put this here or in the strip backround music, but I think this song fits when a female character in Housepets has a sad moment. (particularly Grape) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9UgrCdPY9M
Re: The music of HOUSEPETS!
I've found more music references (I think).
The devil you know. I think it could be a reference to "Heaven and Hell" or "Anthrax" (or perhaps it's about a book?)
In this comic has been mentioned LMFAO, an electropop band from LA
Sing for your supper it's a song from the musical "The Boys from Syracuse" of which exists so many covers from numerous artist.
Let’s Get Physical, Physical (including the arc's name as well) it's a reference to the song "Physical" performed by Olivia Newton-John.
