Name pronounciation

Post by allmadhere »

I was wondering how to pronounce Bino's name.

I've always said it as Bee-no, but I can see how it would also be pronounced Bin-o or Bye-no.

I pronounce Bino's name as "bee-no", that's also how it sounds read in Italian. It has to be written Byno for the "bye-no" pronouncing and Bin'o for the "Bin-o" one. The same rule is with Fido's name.

In English, just as Fido's name is pronounced Fie-do, Bino's name is pronounced Bie-no.
IPA (GA): ˈfaɪˌdoʊ, ˈbaɪˌnoʊ ;)

(This is Word of Rick, by the by. It's buried somewhere deep in the forums, and I don't have time right now to dig it out)

I'm 99.9% sure it's pronounced "Bye-no"
And Tarot is pronounced "Tero"
Douglas isn't my real name, but because of a name block put on me by a higher-order being known as Djinni, I can't say my real name.

The languages expert demolished my reply, this had to happen. :P So it's something like "bye-no". Anyone can pronounce it as pleases... :P

Fido (pronounced "fee-do") is a typical dog name in Italy, the most known (it's even used as way to define the pet dog). Probably it's derived from a form of the verb "fidare" (trust), intending the affinity between the dog and the owner ("mi fido di te", I trust you). But, it's also a male person name (unused, I guess :P).

Here's a brief video. I mispronounced Lucretia, it should be closer to the Latin pronunciation.

Has that video been stashed away for this very moment?

You say "they're pronounced exactly how they look" but Tarot does not look like "Taer-oh", it looks like "Taer-out".

So the Chinese transcription of Bino is wrong after all. It sounds like "Bee-No" rather than "Bye-No."
It might be too late to correct it now since we've been using it for years. I guess it's fine to just leave it be.

Well now I got to retrain myself to pronounce Bino's name as the way it was intended.

Diss looks a lot younger then I thought.

It is indeed strange to see the true face of our Devil Skirrl.
Unless he is indeed a squirrel, but he's wearing a human suit.

We're talking about a squirrel here - he could easily have hid an appropriately sized zipper beneath the shirt.
