At least Keene's got a slinky to pass the time.

Wonder what the neighbourhood thinks of this? :3

Re: 2016/02/22 - Power Play
Keene knew it straight away;
What had happened,
Who to blame today.
Poncho wasn’t puzzled;
He put it together,
Who Rock wants muzzled.
The town knows it well,
Through paper news,
An easy truth to sell.
Kari was told but doesn’t care,
If he wasn’t to use it
Why else was that pylon there?
Now to cause a solar flare.
Who can stop him? Who will dare?

You're assuming they had a plan in the first place.
If they really did, I doubt Karishad would be involved.

Hey, it's not so bad, Nikola Tesla once blacked out the whole of Colorado Springs with one of his experiments.
He was trying to electrify the Earth.
Yes, the whole planet.
For reals.
Karishad has a ways to go.

Yes... Though you seem to have the reasoning a bit off.. Tesla was working on the idea of wireless power transmission through large scale EM pulse emission. He actually succeeded in his goal and found a way to do it useing High frequency Tesla coils at extreme voltages (Upwards of 1 million Volts) however this put him at odds with the big money of the time because it meant that power would be free for everyone in virtually limitless quantities... and with no wires the businessmen couldn't regulate OR charge for it. It also posed a risk to existing wired infrastructure as Tesla's wireless transmission method was destructive to the wired system do to a feedback loop being created.Argent wrote:Hey, it's not so bad, Nikola Tesla once blacked out the whole of Colorado Springs with one of his experiments.

That's why Westinghouse cut his funds, Tesla had become a threat not only to his business but to the very theory behind capitalism itself which exists on the idea that something people produce with a monetary incentive will always be better than something developed without that purpose in mind. Modern examples of this breakdown include Linux which is free but surpasses both Windows and IOS in many areas but is totally free to use as well as open source.
Also... Its good that we are starting to see the other Miltons more often. Generally the comic is almost entirely focused on Keene since hes sorta the mastermind.

Well, you have your facts right. In the spirit of capitalism!
We never really see the others at all. Where are the others besides Keene and Rock right now? Keene and Rock aren't the only multi billionaires, you know. The others need THEIR own reality shows, cuz, you know, all rich people make their own reality shows.
And then run for president, of course.

Well they probably have their own shenanigans they're getting into. Not every wealthy, impulsive creature has a thing for the camera.

Heh, I like how Keene is this high-rolling character, while Rock is just sort of this side venture he occasionally has to send Karishad for...

Eh, that's a bad trouble... According to Rock, because probably he cares only that, how can the whole city watch the TV show without electricity? Anyway, why you're wondering that, Rock? You saw the electricity pole in flames. You should blame the electricians, instead, they need to hurry up repairing the damage. Ahah, you fool Karishad. Yeah, Keene, he's the problem made fox. Anyway, what he says has a sense, but only if applied to other things.

True, true. But the world never knows how rich someone is until they have their own show. I never knew Trump until I watched an episode of "The Apprentice" (which, I might add, was AWFUL!).

Re: 2016/02/22 - Power Play
That would be in direct violation of conservation of energy. Then there's that little matter of all the residual EM fields which don't reach any load, and the extreme voltages required to generate them in the first place. I'd say regulation would be the least concern for anyone willing to fund such an experiment.Adoring Fan wrote:He actually succeeded in his goal and found a way to do it useing High frequency Tesla coils at extreme voltages (Upwards of 1 million Volts) however this put him at odds with the big money of the time because it meant that power would be free for everyone in virtually limitless quantities... and with no wires the businessmen couldn't regulate OR charge for it.
Knowledge is not as simple as having the right answers. Knowledge is a way of finding them.

Re: 2016/02/22 - Power Play
it sounds less like a power distribution system, and more like a rapidfire artifical EMP... wouldn't that be absurdly inefficient as a means of power transfer?
Most important thing I've learned from D&D?
No matter how tempting it may be, as a DM I can't both present a problem and solve it.
Every time a DMPC or NPC fixes something a payer couldn't i'm diminishing and undermining that player's contribution.

The ground was the *literal* ground in his system, and his goal was to establish a permanent state of electrical potential difference between the whole planet and his distribution towers.Adoring Fan wrote: Yes... Though you seem to have the reasoning a bit off..
It's an awesome insane idea, and even on a small scale it caused weird effects in Colorado Springs.
Not in any practical way. The efficiency was a fraction of a percent.Tesla was working on the idea of wireless power transmission through large scale EM pulse emission. He actually succeeded in his goal

Guys, I just realized something. There's only the rest of Flip That Den! and one more full story arc until...THE 100th ARC!!!!! XD The hype is real!!

Has Rick announced anything in special?
I'm sure that will be nowhere near to the HNE's hype (which I missed the hype since I read it recently last year, 2015 )

Re: 2016/02/22 - Power Play
He did actually succeed in a way, which failed then, but a few scientists dug up the old, OLD information, and it is now very possible on a high scale of efficacy. I saw it somewhere on TV, and NBS announced it so I know it isn't a hoax or anything like that. I've the data on how to do it somewhere, I just misplaced it.Argent wrote:The ground was the *literal* ground in his system, and his goal was to establish a permanent state of electrical potential difference between the whole planet and his distribution towers.Adoring Fan wrote: Yes... Haha, so Karishad doesn't have a clue does he?!
I can see the lightbulb a burning now.
If I hit someone with a dictionary is that physical, or verbal assault?

Karishad's almost right. Electrons (not "power" per se) flow into the positive (the "plus" side) and out of the negative (the "minus" side). Current, though, is the reverse of that. Something I have never understood.
King looks an awful lot like my own Corgi. That's one reason why he's my favorite, but I also like his attitude.
