Re: Housecraft! (or Minepets!)
More bad news. i was doing some renovations, and several dozen blocks i know i built spawned silverfish.
those things are only supposed to spawn in fortresses.
Any block of cobblestone, or stone brick, can be a silverfish egg, and if there were some in one building...

Re: Housecraft! (or Minepets!)
Invisan, what's the spawn protection currently set to? cause it's still huge and obstructing repairs.
I did some tests on my end, and this should fix it:
In Server.Properties set spawn-protection to 1
In the game have one of the OPs use the command /gamerule spawnRaduis 7
that should shrink the spawn zone down to 14x14, (ie: 7 block radius) and the protection area around it down to 16x16 (ie: spawn radius +1). cause if I've measured it right (died a lot & wasted a lot of blocks to test this.), it's currently 60 block wide unusable area. im mapping the perimeter out with wool.

Wow. I've spent time on creative mode to make simple sprites on Minecraft, that's a whole new level of dedication right there. Next you'll be telling me that you've spent time making a working 16-bit computer with Minecraft.
Seriously, it's absolutely INSANE what the more dedicated players will figure out. My laptop isn't strong enough for most PC games, not helped with how our internet connection is. If both were better, I'd join you guys.

Re: Housecraft! (or Minepets!)
So how are all of the rebuilds/refits coming?
I've got most of my stuff fixed, silverfish infestation under my house not withstanding, and I've been trying to patch up anything i can find that i can figure out how it fits together, but some things i'm not sure of.
As to the computer thing, worst I've ever built was a calculator. Manually assembling logic gates from improvised semiconductors and resistors (ie: redstone objects) takes more patience than i have.

Re: Housecraft! (or Minepets!)
Buster, Render and I have worked out that we can use an OP command to replace any silverfish eggs under your house with stone. We just need the coordinates of the area. So could you let us know how big an area you need fixed and how deep the area goes please? We just need the coordinates of the two diagonally opposite corners, one at the top and one at the bottom.

Re: Housecraft! (or Minepets!)
silverfish have special spawn rules that normally makes it impossible for them to spawn outside pre-generated structures.
silverfish can only spawn near spawners or monster eggs, if there are no players in sight they'll infest the nearest stone block, any stone block infested becomes a monster egg. while this means they can't spread very far, they CAN multiply exponentially in their limited spread range if it's a high-traffic chunk (like say, the spawn area...)
only explanation i can see is someone planted a spawner or a dozen eggs back while the server was hacked.
i haven't found any spawners, but those things have a 3 block effect radius, it could be embedded in a wall somewhere, and eggs are indistinguishable from the block they used to be, save for taking as long as a stone tool would to mine with steel gold or diamond tools, and spawning silverfish when broken which are a pain to kill because of their tiny hitbox and swarm tactics.
You should probably check any other build that uses a lot of stone, cobblestone, or stone brick.

Well, hopefully that'll fix the problem for you! Let us know if you have a problem with more eggs popping up and we'll run the command again!

Did you rebuild that in creative mode? It's easy to pick the spawn egg stones in the creative inventory by accident.

Re: Housecraft! (or Minepets!)
no it isn't. cobblestone is on the building blocks tab, monster eggs are on the decorations one. i would have had to switch tabs by accident and somehow not noticed that the tab i'm looking at is 80% plants when i'm looking for blocks. besides which, that wouldn't explain the silverfish I originally got attacked by being in blocks i built months ago, before the griefer attack when creative wasn't an option.

Ah, okay. I usually pick the blocks from the full searchable list.
But since the griefers had no possibility to get any of the silverfish block it's still odd. But whatever, they're gone now.

once you've memorized what's on which tab, it becomes vastly easier than the search tool.

Since I enjoy mining way too much, I usually don't play in creative. So I don't know what's on which tab.

Hey guys! I spent a long time on an MC map, it is a huuuuge vannilla minecraft city. It has easter eggs and a giant area to explore, you can climb most of the buildings! Be warned, it takes a really beefy computer to run.
This is it, for MineCraft 1.7.10 or higher.

They might have used the Too many items mod to get what they needed to grief your server, then they wouldn't have needed creative to grief it makes since if they were hacking.Buster wrote:no it isn't. cobblestone is on the building blocks tab, monster eggs are on the decorations one. i would have had to switch tabs by accident and somehow not noticed that the tab i'm looking at is 80% plants when i'm looking for blocks. besides which, that wouldn't explain the silverfish I originally got attacked by being in blocks i built months ago, before the griefer attack when creative wasn't an option.

Re: Housecraft! (or Minepets!)
Except I've used that mod on a server before, and needed extra permissions to make it work properly. The way that mod and it's clones tend to work, the server would read it as the player spawning in items, which outside of creative, I don't think everyone has access to, just OPs.
So you would need to either trick the server into thinking you have the correct permissions, or that you're in creative. and if you can do that, you don't need mods.
