So today I revisited this ancient gaming portal:
http://www.byond.com
Yeah, still active
I used to play NEStalgia a lot there before NEStalgia became paid
Also used to program in this MMO engine.
Since is active and some of the previously paid features became free (like publishing games), I tought that we could make an Housepets! MMORPG
What do you think of that idea?
Well, there's the thread to discuss about BYOND.

Re: BYOND
I guess that's up to you. We're already working on a Jrpg so I dunno it may be a possibility.
If I hit someone with a dictionary is that physical, or verbal assault?

Re: BYOND
Is it just a base language or a proper engine? if the later, what are the limitations of the engine? what can it do or not do? if the former, how easy is it to pick up? are there tutorials?
Most important thing I've learned from D&D?
No matter how tempting it may be, as a DM I can't both present a problem and solve it.
Every time a DMPC or NPC fixes something a payer couldn't i'm diminishing and undermining that player's contribution.

Re: BYOND
I'ts a proper engine. The editor that is used is called Dream Maker
This is how The Last Conflict, made in the BYOND engine, looks:
Limitations:
DM Guide: http://www.byond.com/docs/guide/
A guide to Dream Maker (Theres also a PDF version: http://www.byond.com/docs/guide/guide.pdf)
Your First World: http://www.byond.com/developer/Dantom/YourFirstWorld
A project for beginner's with tutorials included.
Before compiling Your First World, make sure you go to "Preferences for [Project Name]"
And tick that box
More tutorials here:

The Developers page: http://www.byond.com/developer/
The Forums: http://www.byond.com/forum/
Dream Maker also comes with a nice reference if you press F1
Otherwise you can look at the online version: http://www.byond.com/docs/ref/index.html
Difficulty: Not very hard, but also not very easy.
