Phanerozoic Park

Post by 22xander »

WELCOME!

Duke was standing their, happily flicking his tan and fluffy tail back and forth as he stood on the dock. The assortment of pets were here! Of course that also meant that their 'owners' were, but those would be taken care of rather quickly. He smiled, baring his fangs as he watched the boat slowly move into the bay, with one of his security guards at his back. The guard was massive, genetically based on an ice-age direwolf, and annoyingly was still loyal to that fool of a human he had working security in the human side of the island. However, this would still be fine, and he stood... with much of his weight on his cane. Even for a proud breed it was obvious that he was sickly, but it was also obvious that his fur was well taken care of.

As they stepped off the boat he continued to smile, raising his arms in greeting. "Welcome animal brothers and sisters to your finaly here to feel the magnificent airs of this paradise!" He grinned, waving to the human staff beside him to guide the humans to the other side of the island. "This day will be perfect, and every one of you will experiance this perfection uniquely. You see, for now, your human... compatriots will be spending their time in the magnificent resort on the other side of the isle, you however will spend time with me in my personal estate and we will eat like kings and live the truest pleasures in all the world."

He waived at them to follow and turned his back to them, stepping onto a magnificently ornate gate that read the name of the place. "Welcome my friends to Phanerozoic park!" He grinned and raised his arms above him as the animals followed. The inside of the hall held many fossils and other such things, and he simply waived at them to enter a large room with a table that was at a perfect height for at least larger dogs rather than the size for humans. He sat down at the head and waived them to seats. "The meal will begin shortly, then you will be shown to your quarters. I hope everything will be satisfactory."

Buster, who had arrived thanks to her uncle Robert, as Momma wasn't much into spectator attractions but didn't want to waste the ticket, was the first off the boat. While Robert went off wherever with a massive grin on his face, she was paying far more attention to her tablet, wanting to send a message back home that she had gotten here alright. Interrupting their host to ask "This place has WIFI right?"

Grant seemed large as a lion and twice as tall.

And as so he stood square and ever so cautious. It was in his nature and unlike others he hated the fact he was gaurding his boss rather than watching the attractions as needed. But he knew that there were others that did the same. And held a slight worry for his owner. However a jobs a job so he stood behind the boss.

Once he saw everyone moving to follow he moved with the group watching everyone he could and looking around the island

Seiko and his owner stepped off the boat and took a good look at the island, "Oh man I can't wait to see what this place has to offer! I wonder if they have any sort of- Hey! Where're you goin'!?" He shouted as his owner was hustled away to the human side of the island.
"They told me they were taking me to the human side? Seems kind of odd to separate us but I'm sure we'll see each other soon!" He shouted back. Seiko gave him a little wave and a nod before turning to the wolfhound, "So what kind of activities are we going to do when you say 'truest pleasures in all the world'?"

Red had mostly remained silent on the trip to the island except for when the staff had escorted his Pa away, even though it was barely audible as he said it . "Now that wasn't part of the letter.." He muttered under his breath. He calmly folded a book that he had been reading during the trip under his arm. He tensed slightly as he noticed the rather large direwolf. "Oh boy..Well, could be worse..it could be trying to eat us.." He thought to himself, before quietly going back to reading his book as he followed the group throughout the building to the tables. He finally set the book down as he sat down, only a few seats away from Duke. "I do have a good few questions about this place, but I'll start with the simplest one." He said, looking at the sickly Wolfhound. "Exactly how much did ya'll spend on the security of this place.." He stated quietly, quietly shoving his book behind under his chair. "Now I ain't trying to question this place, but I for one would not like to end up six feet below the earth. I'm sure ya understand?" He said, the uneasiness in his voice quite clear.
"Crimes?" "Crimes."

"And if you have anymore problems with the engine, remember, this is my number." Iris said as she handed an embarrassed engineer a small slip of paper. She'd gone down to the engine of the ship when she noticed it had started to slow down and, finding that the workers were in a panic over some of the pieces of the engine getting shot out randomly. She quickly fixed the problem, getting the boat to get back to it's main speed, and even impro-
"Yo, Iris," Ra said, sticking his head through the door, "Are you going to be joining us, or do want to waste those free, once in a life time tickets?"
She sighed, "No...especially with what was advertised," She walked out the door, with Ra following, and to where the other animals where going, as she asked, "Where did Dad go?"
"Humans get to be at a resort on the other side of the island," Ra quickly explained, paws behind his head.
"Ah," Iris said, then pointed at the canine with the cane and asked, "And he's the one in charge, yes?"
"Pretty sure, yeah."
"Alright," Iris said. She then sat at the table, right across from the odd canine, with Ra sitting next to her. They sat quietly, waiting for the other pets to sit down as well.

Seiko listened to the short story the direwolf told and cracked a grin on his face, "Sounds like fun. Adds to the thrill of the island I suppose." He surveyed the group of animals and came up with a little idea, "Since we'll all be staying together, perhaps we should introduce ourselves, try and get a bit more comfortable with the rest."

(OOC: Heh. This post made me actually contemplate changing Shepherd's gender... Not sure if it is for better or for worse though.)
Shepherd and his owner were among the last to emerge from the ship, as Shepherd's owner apparently fell asleep mid-voyage, and Shepherd had to spend quite some time waking him up.
"Well, the air here is certainly better than that in the cities." Shepherd's owner, Terrell, commented, as he towed their luggage behind him.
"Yeah, dad." Shepherd said as he looked around the docks. "With so much trees here, and the island's high use of electric vehicles..." He smiled. "Well. It does make me quite envious of the billionaires who gets to buy island resorts..."
He stopped mid-sentence as he saw the dire wolf standing in front of the other guests.
"Oh. My. God."
Well, if you're in Shepherd's situation, I'm sure you can't blame him for practically salivating at the giant wolf. As a wolf himself, it is basically like meeting one of those bodybuilders in those magazines in person. Even if you don't get romantically attached to them, you will still probably become quite amazed and envious at their almost perfect body.
And Shepherd is currently feeling all those feelings at the giant wolf. Being possibly one of the weakest in his family, he naturally looked up to the dire wolf as a giant life-size role model.
"What's the matter, Shepherd?" Terrell teased as he ruffled the fur on top of Shepherd's head. "Finally finding your soul-mate?"
"Stop it, Dad." Shepherd pouted as his face turned beet red. He didn't spoke a word after that, and only until Terrell had to leave with the other owners did Shepherd said farewell to his owner.
He then took out his phone and attempted to snap a few pictures of the dire wolf.

"Who said I was joking?" Iris asked as she turned her gaze to the dire wolf, "With the creatures that were advertised to be here, and how the nature of some people are, it's not an outright impossibility that it could happen."
"And I think that's enough from you," Ra said as he took out pieces of different pens from his collar and set them in front of Iris. She instantly started trying to put the pieces together, momentarily distracted. Ra straightens his glasses as he continues, "Sorry, she gets like that sometimes. As for names, she's Iris, and I'm Ra."

The mixed breed grined, as he looked the new wolf over a small chill grin gracing his face as he puts up his paws in a piece sign "My name.. You all can call me anything, but if you want to know just call me Rod, or Rodgil if you must." He stated with a happy tone his tail wagging, his eyes travel to the fox to give a wink at twiddling his fingers on his phone that he just pulled out before snapping a few photos in secret

Grant sighed.

These were tourists after all but he amiled at a few photos."well. To be serious i would like you not to joke about being eaten alive ir the fact that death can occur. Its not a laughing matter." The large wolf stepped in front of the host and looked at everyone with a look that seemed to show a mute seriousness

However his eyes seemed to look iris up and down with her point."well you are right iris but I work security with many other animals here. My job specifically is with the Raptor pen here at the park. I can say that so far today we work tound the clock and i can answer questions before we move on to show the park." the dore wolf clapped his hand waiting for questions now he said his job as a security role.

As he looked at everyone he spots sheperd and blinks wondering why the wolf was drooling. What, he never seen a prehistoric wolf before?

Randall nodded his head at the others, clearing his throat. "My name's Randall, but my Pa calls me Red. I prefer Red though." Randall stated calmly, smiling at the others. "It's nice to meet you all, and hopefully we don't get eaten.." He said, attempting his best to stop that blasted southern accent his disliked from poking its way out.

However, we he heard about the raptors he felt as if he had went sheet white. "Wait, Raptors?" He chuckled nervously. "I pray you're talkin' 'bout the velociraptor and not it's bigger brothers.." He didn't like exactly think that a creature he read so much about being most likely intelligent would be at a 'park' as he remembered it being called. "Just great, about twenty-five minutes in, already havin' second thoughts about this.." He thought to himself. "Uh, those raptors regardless of what they are haven't 'scaped before 'ave they?" He said, his nerves subverted his attempts to stop his accent.

Duke frowned at the collected rabble of animals. "Honestly, do you all think you could shut it for long enough that I can explain?" He breathed heavily, and tapped the table in the conference room once they were all their. He had a slight cockney accent. "You are currently standing in a state of the art amusement facility with hundreds of options and workings. This is to, eventually, be the only human-free planet on this good earth where pets like you can live relatively unmolested in your free time." He smiled, having practiced this speech more than enough times. "You were all selected because you come from places likely to allow pets to have enough rights to be called free citizens, as this is the primal market I am trying to set up to make us money. A spa weekend for the over-exhausted pets of rich and loving fools, but this is not the main mission. If you chose to help us, or rather me, advertise and make back the fortune I spent building this place you can help me with the other two branches of the project."

"The second, still relatively normal, project that I am creating under this umbrella organisation is a nation of free animals, creatures that can stay away from humans that might kill them or hurt them. We are going to protect and take in orphans and pound cases, who can't get a home anywhere else, first and then move on to try and base ourselves as being the best place for hurt animals." He smiled with pride as the holographic display above the table shifted, to show the island in full detail rather than out, highlighting other parts of it which were then labeled as being for the citizen project rather then the several resort-style towns designated as the resort project. Their was, however, a large section in the middle of the map with a large mountain and many other features on it that remained un-highlighted. "As you can understand, this is a rather noble goal and I'm sure many human governments will be more than willing to send us the dregs that they have no want or need to tend for. These people who will live, finally in a perfect utopia without the humans who once hurt them."

"Finally, however, is project Phanerozoic." The middle of the island, far larger than even project citizen put together, became highlighted. "This would be the main 'attraction' of the island that my staff has so generously scared you of." He glared at the direwolf. "The final project of the island triad is a rather long and arduous one. However, at this point, you have no need to worry about it as you shall be able to examine the results as soon as you sign a contract. The general gist of it is that you must only speak of this with permission of the company. It also deputises you as a partial consultant for the company, referring us to your friends and helping to find candidates for project citizen. You will of course, have the night to experiance the full project resort experiance before you sign, at which point those who do will be alowed to enter the center of the island to observe project Phanerozoic." He paused for a second before thinking remembering the final thing. "Oh, and if you join up you get free lifetime entry to project resort at any time, as well as a place in project citizen if you ever need it... You never know with humans."

(oh and, could you all stop with the second color for non talking text... it's hard to read. Thanks)

Seiko was just about to introduce himself, having waited for everyone else to go first, when Duke finally spoke up. He listened and listened as the rehearsed speech was spoken to the group. To Seiko, Duke's sense of narcissism was almost tangible, "Right. So before we go I have a question of my own. Where does your bias against humans stem from? Animals kill other animals leaving their young parentless and with little hope for survival. How do you intend to control this in, let's say, any predatory species?"

As Duke began to speak, Shepherd managed to pull her attention away from Grant to listen to the wolfhound's word.
As for his goals and intentions? The 'human-free planet' part seems awfully xenophobic. Being in the private security sector, she had met his fair share of human terrorists and robbers, but it was not to say that there weren't pets who tried this as well. Much less though, although it was still preemptive to make such an harsh assumption.
And living free of human intervention? Seems like what feralist would say.
She waited until Seiko finished his question, before speaking up, albeit a little bit softly.
"Uh... In addition to the previous question, how do you ensure that this won't increase the friction between humans and animals? As you said, there are places which does not allow the rights of pets. The Project might prompt pets escaping from their owners, and it might even overflow the quota you made for the Project. It would be like refugee situations from civil wars again."
She paused, then took a deep breath to calm herself. She had not spoken so much in public that much before, and a careful observer would see that her paws are shaking a little bit.
"And the idea of an animal-run nation might even aggravate some countries or groups resentment towards animals as well. Also, if there are pets who wants to live with their owners here? Would they be allowed on the Project as well?"

"Their are more then enough places on this earth where the humans have all the rights, and their are other places where a pet can live equal to their... Owner." HE spat the final word at them. "What does it matter if we aggravate human socioty against us? We can defend ourselves on our island, besides... All it will be is a last resort to remove abused and half dead animals from the systems that are willing to kill them!" He seems to be seething with this as he looks down at the others. "Look, all you have to do is become a partner of project resort. You won't have to deal with Project refugee whatsoever, I hope you understand that."

"There is also the problem that some of us may enjoy staying with our owners." Iris said as she started working on the small clock hands.
"That...is a good point," Ra said as he started to lean on the table, "Considering how you have been talking about humans, I have a good feeling that my dad couldn't live here permanently, and I prefer having him around, so...maybe, soften up a bit to them? Randall made a small growl hearing the word "Owner". "You say that as if we were like slaves." He said in disdain. He calmed himself down before continuing. "Look, We don't even know how good this park is, nor how safe it is, so why should we blindly agree into something? He asked, a small smirk on his face."You brought us here to see this park didn't ya, well not to be rude, but how about let's do that before someone says something that may make other's lose control of themselves." Whoops. Guess I opened up a can of worms... Shepherd thought as her ears flopped down. *sigh* I need to calm this down before it gets out of hand. Would be disastrous if that wolfhound there lost his temper and boot us out. No more vacation then... Guess that means more public speaking for me...
She then stood up and cleared her throat, hoping that the others would quiet down at least a little, while struggling to maintain a neutral but firm composure.(Which she failed on the 'firm' part.)
"Umm... Mr. Duke, is it?" She said. "We don't mean to be negative about the Park. In fact, I myself was actually looking pretty forward to seeing it." She then looked at the other guests, then back at Duke. "How about this? We would sign a non-disclosure pact about the Park and its facilities, but we would decide whether we sign the documents regarding being your company's 'partial consultant', as well as being the Project's permanent citizens, after we finish the tour of the Park. How does that sounds? We would need some time to decide on such a large matter anyway, and even if we don't intend to be 'partial consultants', we would still invite our friends if your Park is indeed as good as advertised."

Duke rolled his eyes at them. "Yes, Exactly." He paused for a second at the misunderstanding. "I don't expect you to leave your... companions. The reason I picked you is because I figured that people in your situations would have human partners who would be the most available to project refugie. If You like your Human then why would you want to live on an island with the explicit purpose of helping those traumatised by abuse?"

Seiko let a small grin cross his muzzle, "I don't know if you've noticed, but humans are very capable of destruction. Anger the rest of the world and who's going to ally with us if someone decides to invade?" He stepped his way to the front of the crowd, "Personally I don't think you have a real reason to hate humans so much, but I don't think anyone really wants to read that chapter. I concur, we should get on with the tour, I'm sure there's lots to do."

"Yes, I think I agree," Iris said, now testing the new pocket watch which, of course, was functioning properly despite all the parts coming from different watches, ".We should start the tour before someone picks a fight they can't win." She directed her eyes at the dog that had suggested giving out their names, blatantly implying the obvious.
"Don't you start, or I'll send you back to that ship." Ra warned.

"their isn't a tour tonight!" Duke slammed his paw down. "It's tomorrow... Tonight your going to be spending the weekend at the resort. Your humans are being treated just as well as you are, and are in fact living it up at the moment. Tomorrow a real tour, but tonight you will each be treated as the ritchest kings by our all animal staff. Dinner will happen here in a good six hours, until then enjoy yourselves. If you can bring yourselves to it without your Humans." He spat the final word again. Still bitter at Tue species ad a whole.

Grant chuckled"well, from the looks of it mister duke they want to see some of whats to come. Although not my place everyone i do have to check on a few habitats. Should you like to see them you may join me and stay within the viewing areas. Behave and ill get you inside" Grant said smiling as he stood from his seat and stretched. The large wolf didnt want to hear anymore and went to the door. He knew this wouldnt end up so well but with time the group may see how nice it is here. Sure the day was getting late but as a security dog he had to do his daily rounds.

Once at the door he turned to the group."anyone interested?"

Randall would calmly stand up, reaching down to pick his book back up. One he had, he turned walking towards the door. "Ya got me." He said happily. He then went back to reading in the book. "Beats staying in here risking witnessing a fight go down." He said, not looking up from his book. He was happy to be able to leave the room before tensions rose again, or he lost his temper despite how rare that was for him to do. In all honesty he wanted to see what kind of creatures they had cooked up to make sure if it was really worth his father and his time to come to the island in the first place.

"I'll come, I need some fresh air anyways." The fox huffed, his paws clinched as he tries to hold back his growing anger so as not do something stupid, walking to the door being held open by the wolf, the intimidation & shyness foregone due to anger

He raised his paw lightly hoping to get a answer questioned that is making him a bit curiousness an eyebrow raising at the the obvious disdain of humans "So I have to ask. What makes this any different then what peta is trying to accomplish? It is also a multi-billion dollar company with the same animosity towards owners. While I understand what your trying to do you have understand that pets are capable of the same if not more destruction. Don't get me wrong, I'm signing either way I don't want to stay living with my roommates."
