Let's just hope that Fox has learned something during that time.

Play The Hayseed Knight. This isn’t self promotion, I just really like the game.

Oh yes, I forgot, the arc began in the sommer, time flies
Cool to see that Fox still has a chance.
So...does this now mean Mungo is still his partner or is it someone else? If it's someone else, I wonder who.

Judgment done and punishment decided;
Foxs’ every effort, in this thing, derided.
Slapped down by the noblest old Sarge.
Foxs’ chances still - just - at large.
Six months down, Fox is looking buff
So many crunches, has he done enough?
This second time, he’s really done quite well
Now who just broke that ol’ doorbell?
What happened in the three months intervening?
It’s a question that might have some meaning.
Given, how, it’s been placed deliberately.
I suppose we’ll just have to wait and see…

It could also be another new character, although Mungo going to visit Mungo Fox, could imply that they're still partners...at least I honestly hope so.Gbr23 wrote:It has to be Fido.

Am I the only one questioning why it took 3.5 months to find him a suitable partner?

And it doesn't have to have anything to do with this plot. It may have just needed placing to seed the next Fox arc. Or the one after that.

Uh, I think that's the 'new' partner. And it's a loop closing joke as it probably means the bell has just been broken by... Mungo. And breaking a door is how he entered the story.FancyHat wrote:Wait a second, did Fox's owner just say "Doggone it not again!" ... Oh boy that doesn't bode well..

Re: 2016/12/23 - Time Skip
For those wondering why this comic just did a 6 month time skip, It's because this arc took six months to get to this point.
We aren't missing anything, this was just to put things back on the right track Also this entire arc has been in a sort of "movie" like format so this fits pretty well with the storytelling going on here. ALSO did you really think Rick was gonna miss Christmas this year?
But this DOES actually intrigue me, this is the first time (or just the first in a long time) that there's been a time skip like this in the comic. For a form of measurement, King's Pups are now at speaking level by this point. This is a pretty hefty span of progress that just happened. I'm genuinely curious to see what's changed, especially after the major fiasco that went on 6 months prior to this.
Also, yes, that's Mungo at the door, considering he just broke it. Either that or Fido (like you guys are guessing) got REAL strong over the last 6 months

...Because he was on two weeks of administrative leave and needed 2 months of training. He didn't have a partner cause he wasn't being a police dog for those 2.5 months. And he has a partner NOW, this isn't his partner meeting him for the first time in those 6 monthsRikunda wrote:Am I the only one questioning why it took 3.5 months to find him a suitable partner?
Re: 2016/12/23 - Time Skip
Rick did the time skip with King and Bailey's pups. :3
This skip though is definitely interesting. 6 months is huge, but after wrapping this arc up, I wonder if Rick will tease us with stories during this time? Or what will be in store for us next year in general? This feels like a big direction has already been pushed now that Keene's mystery was solved... wonder where this goes now?

Re: 2016/12/23 - Time Skip
Oh that's true actually. I don't think it was AS big though.
And yeah I was kinda expecting this to be the comic's next major conflict (like how the U&U game was), I'm a little shocked it ended so abruptly and in a way kind of anti-climactically. Though I gotta say, I did really like the twist of this all just being a really... REALLY elaborate way of pushing Fox's character. If not for the sudden and kind of a slap in the face resolution to the conflict, we wouldn't have gotten such a drastic development from Fox who was (as the comments have recently shown) kind of a Gary Stu in the sense that he was a seemingly perfect character with very few flaws. While it may have seemed like a waste of time to some, this arc actually did turn out to be REALLY important. The message would not have gotten across nearly as well.
But like you said, it leaves a lot open for what's to come next. This is turning out to be a pretty solid ending, not like a end to a typical arc but to a whole storyline. I wasn't kidding when I said this was like a movie, it has that feel of the ending of a movie, it's solid on it's own (unless it foreshadows to another conflict or potential story arc in which case I'll just shut up). Much like when the U&U arc ended, it's not really clear what's gonna happen now. It's not a bad thing, it's actually a really good thing for the arc at least, but it's certainly a weird feeling.

I'm betting Fido is his new partner, though it is also pretty likely to be a new character at this point.
Re: 2016/12/23 - Time Skip
Personally, I'm still waiting for a new over-arching plot to come up. I don't mean any offense, but since the game ended the general plot has seemed kind of ... pointless.
The most likely candidate for the next one seems to be the whole thing about Keene trying to get equality between humans and pets, so I'm hoping for a little more focus on that soon.

I'm echoing the previous comments.. what about the letter??? Did Fox just conveniently ignore it for six months, just like he never seemed to question the two pins on his scarf? The two pins which are unfortunately not visible in the latest comic? >.<

My guess is that Mungo has come for a visit, since he is the one who forgets his own strength. My hope is also that the new partner will be Fido.
Re: 2016/12/23 - Time Skip
I'm pretty sure "retraining" was Sasha's problem.
On a more serious note, this was a bit abrupt, but I'm interested in seeing where this goes!
(Edit: Wow, a lot of people that think it's Fido. I think that's a bit of a conclusion to leap to. Though I admit it's possible, at least.)

Re: 2016/12/23 - Time Skip
My heart really sinks For Fox. Heres a husky who has gone though quite alot of carp since we first met him. I mean he was kidnapped by PETA-mentalists, had everything he thought about Fido broken when it was revealed he was in love with Sabrina, finding out his newer best friend was in fact one of the PETA guys who kidnapped him, enjoying a brief fling with two angel dogs only to have the memory smeared away and thus unable to see the signs they try to send him and now this, trying to prove his worth as a police dog and following his instincts like a good cop should, tho the way he did it broke protocal, and then finding out everything he did was for nothing as the police and crime lab had all the info AND a suspect thus rendering all his hiding Sasha and such and being chased by Mungo, totally null and void. HOW he hasent fallen into a deep depression, or taken to seeking comfort in drink (orange soda), or quit the force in emotional defeat ill never know.
But i can relate to him tho. Hes someone who wants to show how bright his heart is only to have the power cut to it constantly.
As for who his partner is it would be nice if it was Fido, but if its Mungo again i wouldnt mind either.

Re: 2016/12/23 - Time Skip
Hm... Even if it's Mungo at the door, how do we know that he's not there to escort Fox's actual partner there? For all we know, Fox's new partner would have to be a K9, but so far, we haven't seen any females in the K9 taskforce likely due to a lack of interest from them... Doesn't mean Rick won't surprise us somehow.
Still, Ralph still shows he's a fair Commander, looking out for the dogs he commands and his punishments aren't overly harsh. I mean, if he was too lenient, he'd end up getting many K9 Members killed from recklessness on their end, but if he's too harsh, they'd end up fighting.
Anyway, the problem with Timeskips is that sometimes, they glaze over some of the finer details when they skip, so we don't know if Fox and Fido reconciled the issues they have had from Fido keeping a secret from his friend in the three months Fox had after his re-training... Or if Fox ever got to read that pink letter. It's almost like fate keeps trying to make sure we never get to see what's in it.
...Also, when is Fox getting a GF?

Female police dogs have been depicted, particularly at King's wedding.

Alright for those of you who keep going on about the letter expecting it to be more than a joke:
You do realize that if Fox were to get with one of the two huskies, he'd literally have to DIE, right? Like it's a cute thought and I know you're all eager to give Fox a love interest that isn't taken but you realize this particular paring was doomed from the start And I highly doubt they can use the "I have unfinished business on Earth" thing to come back to earth as a ghost or spirit considering how long they've been in Heaven. Also, we don't know how old the huskies are, or WHO they are. They could be dogs OR humans for all we know considering Heaven is a place where you can change your appearance and as far as we know cats are the only ones that can be born with naturally strange fur.

Why is everyone assuming the 6 month skip means the pups can talk now? Characters only age when they do, it took forever for the wolf cubs to grow any.
Anyway, yeah it looks like Mungo is visiting, going by the broken door noises, but that doesn't have to be his partner, they could just be friends now.
Also, Fox is like a stinkin' Arrow now or something, xP

I would roar if Peanut somehow ends up being Fox's partner.
I can just picture it now ~ "No Warrant, No Entry"? 6 month skip? Peanut became a cop. Ralph upon reading Mungo's report? "Perfect capabilities to be part of the K-9 force."

The thing about having long story arcs that skip over months is that you skip over many portions in what is supposed to be a slice of life comic. It's like being at a pie eating festival where, instead of trying small slices of every pie, we get to eat a whole pie - but miss the opportunity to try several others while we're eating it. At least this pie was pretty good, but hopefully there are some left over crumbs from the other pies we missed.
Douglas isn't my real name, but because of a name block put on me by a higher-order being known as Djinni, I can't say my real name.
