Re: Another awkward moment
I just found out today that my grandmother was a teenaged mother after I went on and on about how bad it is for some woman who get pregnant that young. She had my aunt when she was 16, my other aunt when she was 17, my mother when she was 18 and my uncle when she was 28. She also told me she got married when she was 19 and my now late grandfather was 23. Meaning he was 20 and she was 16 when they first had children.
That means that not only was my grandmother a teenaged parent, but both my two aunts were illegitimate. I was basically telling my mother that her mother was bad for getting pregnant young. >_________<

That awkward moment when you realize that none of your friends know it's your birthday because your Facebook settings weren't set up to display it.
Douglas isn't my real name, but because of a name block put on me by a higher-order being known as Djinni, I can't say my real name.

Sorry to hear that Doug...
That awkward moment when a 5th asks for help on his math involving division homework at the library, and you can't help him out. When his 7th grader brother already couldn't help him, and me and another high school'er had to work together to help this poor kid out...

Re: Another awkward moment
I was in Video Game Design one day and we had a free day where someone brought a PS2 and we were playing it. My class has three Andrews in it (I am one of them) so my friends call me Dust. One of my newer friends didn't realize this so he called me Waluigi. (I love Waluigi) And one of my other friends said most everyone calls me Dust. Nick (the newer friend) said he didn't want to call me that cause it sounded like a furry name. I stayed silent for a moment and told him I was a furry. It was very awkward.

I think he only associates the name with furries because of that one indie game.hypernovatic wrote:I was in Video Game Design one day and we had a free day where someone brought a PS2 and we were playing it. Well I like just survived a near death experience. Was walking up the stairs at school and my shoe got stuck under a step and almost broke my face. So that was great.

That awkward moment when you're sitting in the common room and you can see fire brigade tape at the building just outside the room and you can hear radios and a fire engine and you're worried it's a bomb threat or a chemical leak since there's no smoke.
Fortunately I caught one of the fire brigade people and it turns out it's just a training exercise so I'm safe!

That awkward moment when you and your family goes fishing, only for TWO game wardens to mistake a 13 year old family member for a 16 year old and doesn't believe anyone who tries and tell them otherwise..
2 hours..2 HOURS of talking to those guys until finally one of us had enough of it and pulled up the dang birth certificate on a phone... Only for them to fine ANOTHER person for not having their fishing license WITH them..Not the fact that it was invalid(Which it wasn't -_-), but because they didn't have it on their person...

If you're legally obligated to carry the license, then that's what you have to do and there are repercussions if you don't.

Re: Another awkward moment
Here you just need to own a license to be honest. You don't need to have it on you, as most game wardens ask your name and they look up the license.

Re: Another awkward moment
You want an awkward moment? I'll give you an awkward moment.
MY ENTIRE LIFE.
Just kidding. In seriousness, as 4-H member that sold chickens, I usually have to do a demonstration for the rest of the club to see so that I can actually sell the chickens at the fair. So, since one of my favorite foods are burritos, my mom has the brilliant idea to have me make tortillas. We get an easy recipe, she buys a tortilla press so that they can actually be flat, and we even get a few made to hand out at the meeting. We think it's all gonna go great and that everyone would think it was really awesome. So, when we get to the meeting, everything was going well. Other kids were doing their demonstrations and all of theirs were going fine. Then it's my turn to start, and it goes well. Until my brain seems to glitch out and, rather than stir the batter-y stuff with the fork like I was supposed to, I just skip several steps and shove my hands into the container. My mom says that it still could've worked out, that I could still made the tortillas, but apparently what I did was the second mistake. The first mistake was made by my mom. Now, the water that was in the container was supposed to be a little warm, but she accidentally made it so that it was a lot warmer, making it so that the batter-y substance was way too gooey to be made into tortillas. So, for what I think was about a minute or two, I was just standing up there trying to make commentary on the situation and trying to communicate to my mom that I needed help. Lucky for me, she finally took the hint and grabbed the pre-made tortillas and started handing them out. It seemed they all forgot about my screw up then, cause when they got their hands on those tortillas, that's all they were asking about. So, I was embarrassed as all heck, but they had it count as a legitimate demonstration, so it all worked out in the end.

Re: Another awkward moment
I've got a couple sports ones. One funny, one scary.
Funny: I was in a swimming class and we were on little kayaks in the pool. I was doing fairly well, and I had a decent control. That is until I leaned back slightly and capsized the boat. Not in a normal way either where it rolls to the side, I somehow managed to get the boat to tilt vertically with the front in the air before it slid into the water like a cartoon boat sinking.
Scary: I was on an easy level mountain biking trail with my dad and sister. The trail went by a ledge that dropped into a river. At one point, the trail got REALLY narrow, and dad recommended we walk our bikes through it. I didn't listen, and sure enough I hit a rock with my tire and tumbled down the ledge, hitting my back on the rocks below. I was stiff and cut up, but otherwise fine. What was scary was that I looked at my helmet and there was a big gash in it as if I hit it on a rock or stump. Always wear your helmet, people!

Re: Another awkward moment
That's good. ^^
Here's another awkward moment of mine. I live in a flat attached to the main house of the property I'm on. I was about to get into the shower when I heard a knock on my door. I wrapped my towel around me and opened the door expecting to see the landlord with some mail since I see that most days. But this time it was the real estate agent with a family of people wanting to look through the flat since the landlord is selling the property. I'd had no warning that the real estate agent was coming that day. Was slightly awkward for everyone.

That awkward moment when you think you ordered 6 bars of soap for the shelf at your shop but you didn't realise that they come in double packs which are sold in cartons of 12 so you end up with 144 bars of soap instead of 6.
