”So people on Earth poison themselves for a mild good feeling?” Kolt said, seeming rather confused. ”I mean, we have an herb on Concertia that has similar results, but it’s a very fringe thing. You don’t see ads for it everywhere like I have with beer. I don’t really see how a substance like this could be so popular.”
-
Lewis sighed with annoyance. This wasn’t the first time Corp had made this mistake. ”I’ve told you this before Corp. It’s not anime, it’s Tokusatsu. Anime is animation. Tokusatsu is live action.” He shook his head before looking at the Hivemind drone. ”It seems that the section of my room I stored most of my collection in was one of those that was lost in warp. I was hoping to stop by a toy store to see about replacing at least some of what I lost.”
Play The Hayseed Knight. This isn’t self promotion, I just really like the game.

Chris took the bag from Kol and shouldered it, "I'll get this back to you tomorrow. Have a good night Kol!" He gave her a wave before heading off towards the train station.

Colorado stopped by a store with his love before heading home.

The news program went to commercials. The first add to play was either eerily appropriate for their situation by chance, or evidence that targeted advertising was a little too good at predicting things. It was an advertisement for a Champion run "Empowered Mentorship Program" where different Champions worked with newly empowered people to train them and teach them how to deal with their powers. The advertisement seemed to indicate this was a new program looking for both volunteers as well as people looking for training.
"Ah wonder if'n Ah can summon ye a castle, Sarah." Conall half jokes, watching the ad.

Chris shook his head, "MT, coyotes are nocturnal. Despite how long its been since that mattered, the effects are still there." He set the bag down and sat down on a bench once they reached the station, "Believe it or not I get a lot of good work done at night. I'm actually looking forward to it. Getting back to fixing things or upgrading them is gonna help put the whole 'removed from your universe' thing behind me." He gathered the bag up in his arms as the train arrived and boarded it, "Trust me, I'll be fine."

Tatiana nodded, eating the last of her burger, "Yeah, Trace, really. I seriously can't wait to see whatcha can do on more missions. And Hive's right, when it comes to team seniority it's kinda moot. But..." She said as she stood from her seat, "It's getting late. Let's swap exploits sometime, huh? Night Traci, night Hive." She walked away, towards her room.

Buster wrote:"Um... i dont know? Stuff?"
Welsh Halfwit wrote:"I'd say you can come watch the film if you want but I think mo...Miss Rika is looking for calm down time?" Jaken told June, looking a tiddly bit sorrowful as he did. "See you tomorrow?" He grinned. "Don't bite Mr Hive. I think he's too hard, June." He gave his pizza-crumbed friend a quick hug. "Unless you, y'know, really wanna come?"
"I think it'd be best that June goes home, Jaken. You two can play again tomorrow.. Sorry June." Rika said calmly, making the final decision. "So, if we're all finished we should leave before this pizza place closes. See you tomorrow June! Come on Jaken.." She added, getting up and heading for the exit.

And if you are worried about "inexperience" or "being new" keep in mind that the most experienced members of your team have been working here for three days. You'll pick up on things quickly."
Traci nodded. "R-Right.. I'm still thankful though, for all the compliments." She said with a light blush across her muzzle.

"It also sometimes helps in socialisation," Jenny mentioned. "Those who cannot summon the courage to say something through fear can gind that alcohol shuts down their fear for a little while." She shrugged. "Like most things in life it's OK if not taken to excess. And the excess depends on the person." She checked her watch. "Blimey, time's moved."

”I don’t know, it seems like simply having a friend with you would be much simpler on that front. Giving yourself artificial courage seems like it’s just going to make you take some stupid risks.” Lewis said, Jenny’s explanation doing little to change his opinion on this “beer” thing. His ears stood up when she mentioned how late it was. ”Oh geez, I need to check up on June.” He stood and walked over to the intercom by the doorway. ”Hive, can you bring me a portal to where June is?”
-
”Everything we need for now at least. We can comeback and get the rest of our clothes tomorrow. We’ve got a change for tomorrow in my hammerspace pocket.” Liz said, as Lewis looked through his boxes and triple checked that everything was there. ”You mind taking these back to our house so we can have both hands free while we shop?”

"I'll have to head off too," Jenny said, after having her goodbyes with Garrett in the kitchen. The male Rat stayed behind for a moment so Jenny could say goodnight to Kol properly and she approached him. "Better say goondight here, hmm?" She put her hands on his shoulders, raised herself onto her toes and kissed him.

Rika sighed. "..To be honest, it depends on the circumstances of our next mission. If I think it's going to be too dangerous for you, I won't let you come with me. No discussion. You're a strong kid, Jaken, but you're still young. I would forever regret it if serious harm befell you while you're in my care." She replied flatly. "Gosh, I sound like my mother.." She added, muttering to herself.

After a quick walk and portal door, they returned to Champion tower and up to Rika's room.

After entering, Rika put down her equipment backpack by the door and headed straight for her room. "I'm going to get changed and find out those vid-discs, you can.. Do what you like for a while.." She said before entering her room, shutting the door behind her.

"I am a Celican," Jaken reminded Rika through her door. "I'm supposed to fight not..." He paused. "...Run. And I have powers I can use to protect." That said, he headed into his room, removed his shorts and tossed them beside the bed before heading into the kitchen and getting himself a cold drink before sitting on the sofa and wrapping his tail over his midriff in his one concession to Rika's human side. He waited for her.

”Okay. I’ll be there in a minute or two.” Kolt said, taking his finger off the button. He turned to say goodbye to Jenny and Garret, when the rat suddenly kissed him again, and he handled about as well as all the other times she’d done that, freezing up in the middle of the room.
Kolt? Quint asked, to no response. Kolt? He asked again, sounding more annoyed this time. Still no response. He sighed internally, taking control of Kolt’s body and making it smile as if nothing was wrong. He leaned in next to Jenny’s ear, whispering so Garret wouldn’t hear. ”Do you mind doing the kissing thing a little bit less often? I am not sure how much more of it Kolt can take.”
-
”Um, one more thing before you go. How do we get to the Capital again?” Liz asked, taking advantage of the opening Corp made by stopping the droid. ”We have no idea where the nearest tram station is, and considering this ship is essentially a multi story maze the size of Australia, I’m not too enthusiastic about wondering around blindly looking for it.”

After a while Rika returned from behind her bedroom door, wearing just her sleeping shirt and carrying a relatively small box in one hand and a few vid-discs in the other.

"Right, found them! I've already picked out a few that I think you might like too." She said as she walked over to the sofa and set the box down on the coffee table in front of it. She then stepped over to the TV and turned it on to the disc-player. "So, which one of these do you want to watch? I've got an old sci-fi one called 'Far-scape', all three discs of a really good action trilogy called 'He'll Never Die', and this one is a cheap horror movie that made me laugh more than it scared me called 'Gravedigger'." She asked, holding up said discs as she read them.

Come to think of it, I think that I was with Traci when I did." She said, thinking back to that time.. She shook her head. "Maybe. Anyway, let's start it up.." ”Thank you.” Quint said as he and Jenny walked out the door. By the time the two of them arrived at the kiosk at the corner, Kolt was back in control.
He turned to look at Jenny, a blush somehow apparently through his fur. ”So uh, do you want to come with me to check on June, or do you want to hang out with Garret some more?”

”Really? Huh.” Liz said. ”Well that’s neat.” She turned to look at a closet door right next to her, before opening it, looking inside to see if he really meant EVERY door.

Colorado flopped over onto the bed next to Cherry, "Oh my god this bed is amazing," he said, pushing his face into the pillows. He came up for air and looked over at his love, "I can't wait until we make this place ours." He wrapped an arm around her and pulled her close before quickly letting go and rolling away. "Hold on," with a thump he rolled off the bed and stood up, turning the temperature down to something comfortable. Satisfied he flopped back onto the bed and pulled Cherry close, "Much better."

Legotron123 wrote:”Really? Huh.” Liz said. ”Well that’s neat.” She turned to look at a closet door right next to her, before opening it, looking inside to see if he really meant EVERY door.
Liz would find that, indeed, Hivemind meant EVERY door. The anti-boarding security measure implemented in the last 4 years include every single door being a portal to another door. Even closet doors were portals. In this case, Hivemind was directing the portals to the Capitol District's transportation hub.

(This security measure was what the Celician assassin experienced. BTW, portals are still showing up all over the ship, they just haven't been important to the story)

Hivemind took June with him out of the park, carrying her on his shoulders again as they headed for Champion Tower to wait for Kolt.

"Sure you don't want alone time with June," Jenny asked pleasantly as they walked alongside each other on the way towards the tower. "I'll be back visiting Garrett tomorrow," she added, "so I can head home if you want time with your daughter or I can go along. I'm easy."

”I... I don’t know.” Kolt said, seeming rather conflicted. ”On one hand, I haven’t had a lot of time where it was just me and June. On the other hand, I don’t think you’ve ever actually talked with her.” He thought for a minute before coming to an answer. ”You should go be with your brother. After everything that happened, you two need to spend as much as you can together.”
-
”Geez, you really DID mean every door.” Liz said as she looked through the portal. She reached out to touch, as though she wanted to make sure it was safe. Once she was done, she turned to the Hivemind drone with a faint smile or smirk on her face. ”Well, see you when we’re done.” She said before stepping through the portal, Lewis soon following behind her.

"Uploading the maps now." Hivemind said. The file that was downloaded onto Corp's helmet was an application that showed his location and the location of other important locations in whatever section of the ship he was in. However, the exact locations of the sections relative to the rest of the ship were not shown.

”I don’t actually have any concrete plans other than just talking to her and making sure she’s okay, so I don’t think I’ll need your help.” Kolt said, a playful smile on his face. ”Besides, I think you deserve.. to... He trailed off as he realized something, and looked down at his body to confirm it. ”Ah geez. I just realized I was wearing my suit throughout that whole thing.”
-
”Well, Lewis still has a bit of shopping to do, but I suppose I could head to our new home a little bit early.” Liz said, before turning to look at her son.
”I’m fine doing this by myself.” Lewis said before Liz had a chance to ask. ”You can go ahead without me. I’m probably going to be here awhile anyways.”
Liz gave a small nod and turned back to Corp. ”Well then. I’m ready if you’re ready.”

"Of course, Captain," Corp replied, starting to head out. "I'll even share the Whiskey with you tonight."

"I don't think Garret minded," Jenny said, before looking around to see if they were alone. "Now, are you prepared for a goodnight kiss or just a light embrace?"

After whichever, Jenny headed back to her room, humming to herself.

”Let’s just stick to a light embrace for now. I’m still not ready for a kiss.” He said before giving her a gentle hug. Once that was done, he watched her walk away, as he waited for Hivemind to open the portal so he could see June.
-
Liz gave a quick laugh at that. ”No thanks. I think we both need to get up early tomorrow.” She said, as Lewis walked away to check out some stores and she walked with Corp back to their new home.

Hours later, as the diurnal population of the Beacon slept and the Beacon itself warped through space at top speed, Hivemind remained alert as ever. He had much to think about and process. He reflected upon the day's events and the group of assassins, wondering how many of them were in the same situation as Hannabelle. He thought of their plan in case they couldn't get the trust of their targets. He considered the hundred ways it could go wrong, and planned a thousand ways to recover if it did. Most of all, however, he thought about the strange warning given to him by the even stranger man. If the hobo wizard was correct, as he always was, they would have their hands completely full, and the team would truly be tested. That's why the ship was moving so fast, in fact. He was hoping to head off the danger, get there first so that his Champions would be able to repel the threat, whatever it was.He had to admit to himself how frustrated he was about how little detail there actually was in the warning letter, but he would deal with what he had.

Sure enough, at 5:00 am exactly, Hivemind received a distress signal. Origin: Celicia. He finally knew what he needed to prepare for. Celicia was under attack by a Varanian invasion force, a formidable threat. From the sound of it, they were going to jump right into a warzone. It was too late to change course.

Hivemind wasn't too concerned about the Beacon, though. The ship has jumped into much worse situations than a battlefield and come out fine. He was more concerned for the population of Celicia. As much as their culture focuses on fighting, he knew they simply weren't equipped with the right assets to defend against Varanians.

The moment he received the signal, Hivemind triggered every alarm in every Champion's room to wake them. They would need as much time as they could get to prepare.

"ATTENTION ALL CHAMPIONS. REPORT TO THE FIRST FLOOR AUDITORIUM IMMEDIATELY. THIS IS NOT A DRILL." The alarms blared in the champion rooms throughout the tower. In addition, Hive droids showed up in both Steelhaven Street and in Hannabelle's safe house. Hivemind knocked on the doors of MT's house where he and Chris were as well as Liz and Lewis's house where they along with Corp were staying. Yet another droid showed up in the repair shop where Kobor and Talya were.

--------------------------------

"Chris, MT, you are needed in the Champion Tower Auditorium. Something came up. It's a global threat, and we need all hands." Hivemind said through the garage door.

Hearing this apparently roused MT from his sleep mode. He stepped out of his charging station. "Good morning, Chris." He said before opening his cockpit. "We should hurry. Did you finish that armor?"

--------------------------------

"Liz, Lewis, Corp, We have a situation. I need all champions to report for duty on this. Please come with me to Champion Tower." He said on the comm system after ringing the doorbell to wake them.

--------------------------------

"Hannabelle, we need to talk. Our plans seem to have changed." He said after inviting himself into the safe house and finding Hannabelle awake.

Kolt sat down on his couch, relaxing back into the cushions with a cup of some sort of liquid the replicator in his kitchen had called “coffee.” He had about an hour until his day was supposed to start, so he was going to spend a little bit of time trying to progress through the next Kingdom Hearts game. He started up the game console that he still couldn’t name, and put the cup up to his lips to take a sip. Before he got a chance, an alarm suddenly went off and, startled by the loud noise and acting on instinct, he threw the cup at the source of the noise, a small panel on the wall. It was only once he actually paid attention to what the alarm was saying did he realize what was going on. ”So much for getting more quiet mornings than back home.” He said as he suited up and ran out the door, ignoring the pile of broken glass and spilled coffee on the ground.
-
Roughly 30 seconds after he rang the door bell, Hivemind would find himself staring at a half awake Liz with a toothbrush in her hand looking at him through the doorway. It would seem he interrupted their morning routine. ”It must be pretty bad if you’re calling on us, considering we still have no idea how our powers actually work.” She was silent for a moment, before giving out a resigned sigh. ”Give us two minutes.” She said before gently closing the door. If the drone listened closely, he would be able to hear Liz barking out orders to Corp and Lewis, telling them to get ready for combat.

"It's not technically possible," Hannabelle said, putting down the Blue Kill Ranger next to her unopened book, "for a plan to have FUBARed before it actually starts, Hive. Either you're just that good or something cataclysmic has happened." She stood and strode with purpose. "And you're not THAT good," she added, hitting the door button. "Explain on the way."
------------------------------------------
Corp woke with the slightest of headaches and hoped Hive had come up with something to dull this empathy thing. Even with the help of two single fingers to dull the effect other peoples' feelings had kept him awake half the night but he'd coped with worse over the years. He was halfway up when Liz called and he sped up so as not to deny his Captain. Some sort of panic was on, it seemed, so he got his outfit back on, resolved to buy pyjamas and donned his knife rig before his battle jacket and helmet. Breakfast could wait. He took an anti-hangover pill and stepped out of his room, ready to move.
------------------------------------------
Jenny pulled herself out of the covers after falling to the floor in them and got dressed, leaving her room a few moments later with a breakfast bar in one hand and a coffee in a takeaway cup in the other.
-----------------------------------------
Jaken snapped awake on the sofa, snuggled into a sleeping Rika, and shook her to wake her before vaulting the sofa back and getting his shorts and climbing gloves. He drew on his memories and readied a portal to the Champion Tower. It was a way away but he reckoned he could do it and he opened it when Rika was ready.
-----------------------------------------
Sana scowled at the computer as her link to Celica went down. "Oh," she complained, "I KNEW I should have contacted them last night! Now how do I tell them I'm taking a holiday? And... Why have all the lines to Celica gone down?" After checking to make sure the rest of the web was up, Sana decided to go see a Hive and headed for the Command Centre in the tower.

Tatiana sat straight up from her position on her chair, and headed out as quickly a spossible, gripping her rifle tightly as she glided across the ground, heading towards the auditorium. She idly wondered what would warrant such an announcement, all she knew was she'd probably not like it.

Kol apparently didn't think she had time to dress properly only having what can generously be called a skirt, fortunately for any prudish or children crossing her path, her people are more akin to fluffy reptiles than mamals. She's also dragging a disabled Hive drone with claw marks on it's face, and growling at anything that moves.

Kobor is already there.

-----

The alarm in kolts place just exploded in a shower of sparks, fell of the wall, and spontaneously combusted, and June can be heard whining about her ears hurting from the next room.

He'll also notice that his exit from said apartment is being followed.

Ulrich woke with a bit of a start as the alarm went off. He listened to the announcement before getting up and quickly getting ready for the day. He clipped his gauntlets to his belt and headed out to the command center.

--------

Colorado scooted closer to Seena in his sleep, silently wishing that the hive droids would hurry up and leave.

--------

Chris picked his head up from it's place on the workbench and glanced over at the now, culturally correct armor laying spread out on the bench. He picked up the helmet and twisted it under a light making sure that the symbol he'd engraved on the front shone correctly and that it didn't interfere with the visor. "Morning," he sniffed, setting the helmet down and running a hand through his fur trying to straighten it out, "Yeah. Got it done a few hours ago." He shoved it into the bag Kol had given him and slung it over his shoulder, "You ready for this? Sounds bad."

"No need for a portal, Jaken, it's just down the elevator." Rika said calmly as she came out of her room fully dressed in her usual outfit and headed over to the front door, picking up her backpack she left there beside it."You're worrying too much. It's best to stay calm in situations like this.." She added, opening the door. "Come on."

-----

Traci burst into the auditorium mere minutes after she was woken by the alarm, wearing her combat gear with some parts of it the wrong way around and an energy-drink bottle in her hands. "I'M HERE, I'M HERE!! What's the problem!? Are we being attacked?! Is it those pirates again!?"

Tracy, being far too loud for this early in the morning for Kol (equivalent of 1am for her right now) promptly gets the words "Quiet down!" roared at her by the disgruntled reptilian felinoid.
