Yes, they were updated as the new engine supported larger sprites, which made it easier to make them look more in line with the comic.

And thanks! I had a bit of fun with the dialogue.

Dang, I missed a chest before the castle and had to reload before the woods, There goes 40 minutes.

Since I'm redoing it anyway, is there any actual advantage to giving a Leather Collar to anyone other than Peanut? I looked at the stats and it doesn't really look like a net upgrade for the others, but you can get 4 of them.

I haven't played many JRPGs so I don't really have a feel for what the stats do or what the numbers actually mean other than "Bigger is Better"

Nevermind, I finished it. I like the ending.

(Edit: also, Grape has Magic listed twice on her options during combat, and Item descriptions tend to run off of the screen area. I know you said this is something you put together for the Holiday, but I also know that you're on the team for the other game too, so I thought I'd let you know)

I used an older build as a base. When we learned how to match the font with the comic, it was selected, but it had the problem of being larger than the default font, so existing descriptions were all affected. And I'm sure Grapes double magic was a simple enough fix, I simply didn't feel like searching through the files to find it. This was meant to be a simple deal, but when exporting from RPG Maker VX Ace, maybe like 90% of the animation links and assets were broken, so most of the month was digging during playtesting to see what needed fixing. I was incredibly frustrated and exhausted by the end of it.

Much of this was also just me. I didn't ask the rest of the team for help.

There's actually slightly different dialogue depending if you won or lost to the final boss.

I was saving this for a guest week, but given today's strip, I guess I should post it before it gets totally contradicted! (click for full)

HECK, this one is basically the same dang joke as mine XD I might have to write a new one for the next guest week.

Did some Breel fanart with markers. The colors aren't quite right because markers are really expensive and I only have a few - if I had a lighter, less saturated brown I would have used that. Also, I'm trying to figure out how to be less blotchy and uneven with markers.

I found a few photos of animals on the internet so I figured that I should redraw them as HP characters. For this I'm gonna it take the redraw and put it beside the reference image for accuracy.

First one is Lester lining up for a photo shoot.

Alec: "'David's Secret Chord'? What a weird name."
Blanc: "Looks pretty old, too. Any famous David's that were composers other than you?"
Clayton: "Not sure why you're asking him, he's never written a piece of music in his life."
David: "Well, true. Still, looks like it would sound nice. Let's give it a try."
Bahamut: "Love this one!"
Image
...yes, this is a joke based on the first line of the break-up song, "Hallelujah." Apparently written by Leonard Cohen, but I was listening to the cover by John Cale.

And now seeing the scene where I first heard this song, and I feel sad.
Anyway, we have Alec the dog, Blanc the cat, Clayton the rooster, and David the donkey for Tails of Babylon, the Musicians of Bremen. Also, side note, Blanc was supposed to be wearing sunglasses as she's full-on albino, but didn't feel like adding them in.

What was the scene that you first heard the song from? The scene that I first heard the song from was during the Fiona getting ready for her wedding scene in the first Shrek. Granted, that was Rufus Wainwright, but its where I heard the song and fell in love with it from.

Ah, right. Whoops. Well, the place where I heard it that made me sad was from an episode of Scrubs. The three interns were told not to get attached to newly admitted patients, as one in three would end up dying at the hospital, yet all three ended up getting attached anyway.

All three patients died. Reiterated by the main character; "one in three patients die here, but sometimes the odds are worse." With that song playing, it was a bit of a tearjerker.

Wow, Lester meets his live-action self (how would he react?). Awesome work Tappy Too.
I miss Scrubs. Seeing Bahamut in that picture makes me think he would be like Dr. Cox when training new celestials. Nice going D-Rock.
I had abandoned this concept a while ago, but seeing Peanut in his current state makes me wonder how he would draw Spot now. Maybe something like this? If I decide to ever finish this, should I replace Stripe with the Krunlk?

I sometimes wish I could just focus on my art, but I probably would have never been good enough to make a living off of it. However, it will always be a fun little side hobby that keeps me stable from time to time.

Can said side hobby also include writing? I can wait a really long time. Evidence by the fact that I waited for 2 years to be allowed back into the forums.

Sorry, but no. I'd rather my hobbies not involve being by a computer in that my job requires extensive data analysis and writing the results (hence one of the reasons I very rarely do digital art).
It's best not to spend too much time by a computer. Otherwise, you'll end up a crazy person like this.

Anyway, these last two are great! And I can understand not wanting to be involved with things that are shared between home and work life.

King: "We're not playthings for you to control!"
Mirage: "What are you talking about?! That was never my intention!"
Image
A scene that was planned back when Fightpets was a thing. There was supposed to be a story fight between these two.

The idea was the Mirage and Macabre set up a tournament for the fun of it, but the newly-sealed antagonist of Tails of Babylon would have manipulated the tournament to allow himself to escape, and the other characters were essentially dragged in. King here thought that Mirage was a willful minion of the antagonist, while Mirage is trying to figure out what was going wrong.

Had to reference King when he first took a shovel to Duchess for the post, completely eyeballed Mirage's pose. Macabre had his own "destined battle," not sure when I'll get to it.

After all he's been through, Fox could use a hug ... and Kitsune's not materializing. Besides, its not the first "theraputic hug" we've ever seen him get from Mungo. All part of his counseling, of course. ;)

Ah, King's signature move, but with an epic-looking sword that probably doesn't make a "KWANG" sound upon impact. Poor confused Mirage.
Awesome drawing jonas! Fox has got Mungo to keep him warm.

Yeah, King isn't playing around here. Don't worry, Mirage knows how to use her spikes for deflection.

...probably could've added an impact effect to show that.

Douglas isn't my real name, but because of a name block put on me by a higher-order being known as Djinni, I can't say my real name.
