Hawk waved bye to the two as he followed the Hivemind to their destination, though he did mumble "The White Circle would've loved them" under his breath.

Tatiana listened idly to Hive as he spoke about where they would be staying. She was a little surprised to be called over specifically over something, but she obliged, walking over with her arms behind her head, in a relaxed position. "What's it ya need, boss?"

Quint gave Jenny a knowing smile before Kolt took back control, his body instantly shifting to a much more relaxed stance. He looked around the town they were in before turning back to Jenny, a confused look on his face. ”Where are we? Last thing I remember we were riding an elevator, then things get fuzzy. Did we take care of that Monta guy? He said, before realizing something and patting his face. ”And when did my helmet come off?”

Liz paused for a moment, processing the new information before continuing. ”How many more “Aspects” are there? What is your relationship to Diligitus? How do you “allow love to fill you?” Hivemind said the Dracolich was an Avatar, the result of someone “fusing with a concept.” How the snick-snack diddly-dack does that work?” She paused again, likely to have more questions depending on the answers she got.
Play The Hayseed Knight. This isn’t self promotion, I just really like the game.

You ever realize that the two longest pieces of literature in existence are both fanfics? Weird right?

"I will explain it in more detail but, for now," Jenny said, "you got stunned, Quint took over, helped save all our lives, we did take Monta, we're staying in this town overnight to make sure things are clear..." She glanced around at people before smiling slightly and not doing what Quint had suggested, "and because someone gave me permission to do something. But I'll wait until we're in private. I almost didn't wait but figured I'd better."
--------------------
Messalca merely waved, slightly demurely, as she was introduced, then looked up to MT. "Yeah," she mentioned, "Provisions've been made for ya. I take it yer the Dragon mech?" She gave a slightly nervy grin. "Not sure what told me that, mind. Cuz has a garage set up. He does vehicle recovery when he's not... I'm babblin'." She handed Gadgeteer a card with the hotel's name on it in Celican script. "'S' called the 'Low Front' motel an' it's about a quarter mile down that way," she added, pointing down the left hand way of the road through town under the streetlamps that, due to the tree cover, were pretty much on 24-7. "On the way to the hunt grounds." She noted Kol and, indeed, Gadgeteer and decided to call ahead so they could get the Equinna class rooms ready.
-------------------
"Ready for a rest, Kol," Jenny asked mischievously, looking over to her old hunter friend, "or are you up to the walk?"
-------------------
"Well," Seena said, strapping herself into a seat, "not like that wasn't embarrassing."
"One of these days," Sana grumbled, sitting down, "he's gonna let his guard down and get shocked by a surprise party!"
"You do realise you just said that in a surveilled area, yeah?"
"Yeah," Sana grinned. "The power of a surprise party isn't not knowing it's going to happen, it's knowing but not knowing when!" She chuckled and rubbed her handpaws together.
-----------------
"Sorry, June," Jaken said, "but I think restaurants need you to take your hat off before sitting down?"
-----------------
"Here we arrive again," Hannabelle commented, not yet wanting to call the place 'home'. "It's a good base, Nathaniel. One of the billion bossbit drones will probably want to check you over and assign you a place to stay."
----------------
Keeva looked to Dan, wondering what he wanted to do with their car. Part of her appreciated the idea of having it at home but there was another part that still liked the idea of being connected to the HAVEN.
---------------
Generally, Corp thought, I don't have trouble communicating with my emotions. "Just don't usually show them much," he said quietly, unaware he'd said anything. "Problem is I've seen positive emotions used for dark purpose, wars starting over love and one of the leading ********* in the quadrant undone because he was betrayed by someone who secretly loathed him. A figure of evil who became a powerful ally against something worse. If the only thing that marks good from evil is who gains... The situation is more complex than just black and white. Then again, you did mention a spectrum so I take it there are some that would almost be dark grey, light grey or other colours?" He glanced up at Lewis as his HUD finalised the list of the STEELHAVEN crew into 'Dead, living, 'other' and unknown. "Why does that sound like a Graphic Novel?"

"Attention everyone! Welcome to Rakintha Provence. This is Sheriff Messalca. Her cousin is the owner of the motel you'll be spending the night at." Hivemind turned to her. "I am sorry to impose, but I don't suppose you would mind pointing my team in the right direction to the motel? I don't fully know where it is." He turned back to the group. "I will have food down here shortly, and I will bring it to the motel as soon as it arrives. You have the rest of the night off to enjoy the sites, meet the locals, or whatever you want so long as you don't wear out our welcome."
After listening to Hive and giving a quick salute in response, Traci stepped away from the group and took in the sights around her.
CyberDragon wrote:Meanwhile, Recon simply followed Traci until she figured they were out of earshot of Archangel and Gadgeteer. Though she was less sure about Archangel... "So what do you think of Archangel and Gadgeteer?" she asked.
Traci thought about Recon's question for a moment. "Hmm.. I don't know." She replied simply, looking Recon over. "Why?"

Rika replied. "You said you have Phagophobia, a fear of swallowing.. Or to be more specific for you, being swallowed, right?" She asked rhetorically before continuing. "I can tell your phobia is actually quite serious though, you froze up much like I did with snakes just a few years ago. I don't think I could personally help you, but I can give you some tips and information if you want."

"Ah, yeah actually, I do. How come we never see you out and about and I don't mean robot you, I mean you you. All of the other high ranking Champions seem to at least get out and let the public know they exist outside of just doing hero work. Leads me to think that you don't ever actually stop working." "I'm sure they would." Hivemind said, leading Hawk back into the Champion Tower and towards the elevator. "The Lycan is a stealth and psychological tactics specialist. Eira is much more direct like her approach. Her fur color makes it hard to hide in shadows anyway, so she'll tend to take things head on. You'll meet more of the lead champions at some point."

Hawkfang42 wrote:"I understand, Captain Hive." Brad said, "What now?"
"Now is everyone's favorite part." Hivemind said, the sarcasm apparent in his tone. "Paperwork and applications." At that moment, a number of forms appeared on the table's screen. "It's a basic touch screen form. Just tap a field to fill out and the keyboard will show up."

Neon Icy Wings wrote:Tatiana listened idly to Hive as he spoke about where they would be staying. She was a little surprised to be called over specifically over something, but she obliged, walking over with her arms behind her head, in a relaxed position. "What's it ya need, boss?"
Once Hivemind was confident they weren't going to be interrupted, he asked his question. "Tatiana, what do you know about the aspect, Diligitis? I'm trying to figure out why he inhabited your armor. Does it have sentimental value in any way?"

---------------------------------------
Legotron123 wrote:Liz paused for a moment, processing the new information before continuing. ”How many more “Aspects” are there? What is your relationship to Diligitus? "Oh, there are too many aspects to count." The Hobomancer said with a slight wave of the hand. "There's an aspect for nearly every metaphysical concept. It's just most aren't particularly powerful, don't interact with most people, and are generally unobtrusive. After all, it's not like you'll see the Aspect of Artistic Sensibility get in a battle with the Demon of Slothfulness over the fate of the universe. Hah!" he chuckled merrily. "For your next question, I'm just an old man who loves love. Diligitis considers me a friend, but he considers everyone a friend. I suppose you could say I'm something of a helper of his, having devoted my life to helping others learn to love, and just helping others in general."

"By 'allow love to fill you' I mean you simply think about someone or something you truly, dearly love. Think about how that person makes you feel, and your desire to make sure they are happy and safe. Then, you concentrate on that feeling, and speak to it as if... saying a prayer, I suppose. That is how you contact Diligitis. Avatars are something else entirely. An avatar is a person who has been completely and totally consumed by the aspect, so to speak. Their entire lives are dedicated to the aspect's subject, and in a way, they become synonymous with that subject. The Dragon Knight for example. Diligitis's avatar was a frail young man who dedicated nearly all hours of his life to contemplating the nature of love and hate, and meditated and focused for far more of his life than what could be considered healthy by normal people getting rid of all hatred for anyone. He dedicated every minute to purging the hatred and fostering a desire to see all people redeemed, no matter how vile they were." He smiled and shook his head. "He lost his life in college pushing a man who despised him out of the way of a speeding car. The car hit him instead. That was what caused Diligitis to notice, and to raise him again as the Dragon Knight."
Welsh Halfwit wrote:Generally, Corp thought, I don't have trouble communicating with my emotions. "Just don't usually show them much," he said quietly, unaware he'd said anything. He glanced up at Lewis as his HUD finalised the list of the STEELHAVEN crew into 'Dead, living, 'other' and unknown. "Why does that sound like a Graphic Novel?"
The old man nodded. "That's why I referred to Odium in such terms as a perversion of Diligitis. Love can quickly turn to hatred if it is not pure. If love that is not steeled against such things in an unconditional nature meets betrayal and lies, it can turn to hatred. If love is threatened by one who isn't protected by it, it can turn to hatred. Love and Hatred are very similar despite being opposites. If you were to see the manifested forms of the aspects together, you would see the resemblance." He gave another chuckle. "Of course things are more complex than black and white. Entities that fall between the aspects in various ways are called people." he said, smiling. "As for the morality... well... The aspects are neither moral nor immoral. They have no ability to choose what they are. Not even the demons. As for the difference between good and evil, I can't say. That is something philosophers have debated for thousands of years, and I've been talking too much already."

"It's not that unconventional. All I need is a place to plug in. And of course we can talk, but I don't have to be settled to do that." the mech said, realizing how absolutely absurd he must look as a random dragon-shaped war droid running down the right lane of the street. Technically he was a large vehicle, so it was safer to stick to traffic laws when moving in an urban peacetime environment.

Hivemind hesitated for a moment. This was not a subject he enjoyed speaking about. That said, most people were fairly understanding, and he did already talk about this with the captain of the Steelhaven. "You mean besides the obvious reason any hive mind entity makes sure nothing can get to it's hive queen, or king in my case? I started building these robot bodies in the first place because they provide a buffer of sorts between my real body and the people I'm interacting with. My real body doesn't react well to anything. Light, sound, crowds, even speaking, is all either physically painful or physically stressful. Interacting through these droids creates a sort of buffer, if you get what I mean?"

"Cool. So, I've been thinking on it for a bit and I've come up with an idea. It's a chip, it works in much the same way as the pilots helmet does but it's not wired in and it allows for more distant communication and a shorter 'suit up' time." Chris paused for a second, enjoying the sight of the not-so-destroyed neighborhood. "I also thought on your 'trying to be more like an organic' idea too and I think I've figured out a way to maybe help with that if you're willing. In much the same way that I get most of your thoughts and inputs when I'm in the hot seat, it'd kinda be the same way. Maybe without the control because I'm not sure how I'd take a backseat in my own mind, but it'd at least let you do some of the things you might not be able to. Like eating, for example. It's more of a side addition than the main focus that it's supposed to provide an easier method of piloting, but I figured I'd at least find out whether you cared about that sort of thing or not..."
------
Romeo smiled, "I get it. I assume that you use these bodies to enjoy more leisurely activities as well? A sort of time off without having to actually take time off."

Tatiana tilted her head at the first questions. "Uh, not much I guess? I think he's like the opposite of Odium, Hobo guy works for him, he values love and life I suppose." Her demeanor shifted slightly at Hivemind's second question, her arms returning to her side. "Well... I guess this shell means something to me. It was the first thing I saw when I woke up on that asteroid. Like it was made for me, by who ever wasn't there. Sure, it's been blasted to pieces, broken beyond recognition once or twice, but I always got it repaired. I suppose you could say it's my most prized possession in a way. After seeing it where it wasn't meant to be I just never wanted to let it out of my sight again." She stopped for a moment and shifted, leaning against her second shell as a thought crossed her mind, "This talk reminds me of something though. Why did Diligitis stop the greed guy from messing with me? I'm a merc. From the Rim. Ain't much love or peace there compared to more 'civilized' places. Especially with some of the things I did for Laz." She shrugged her shoulders, somewhat in defeat. "I can't tell ya, Hive. No idea why the aspect of love would take an interest in me. Nor the greed guy come to think of it. I don't think I'm too greedy, but I'm not anymore loving than I am greedy neither."

"Well," Messalca said, craning to look Gadgeteer in the eye, "One've the first things to go down was the Vid and Net systems so precious few here will have seen a Vananian and less'll know it was them that hit us but, if'n you want, you can join the ones spending the night in the station? Coz I can't, y'know, guarantee the signal's not gonna come back."

"Sorry to disturb," Jenny said, cutting into Traci and Recon's conversation, "but, when you get a chance, Traci, could you zip on ahead to see this motel and make sure we don't all get lost in the woods? Gadgeteer's got the card with the place's name on it."
------------
"Can you call Denver," Sana asked politely, "and tell him I'll be by in half an hour? Gotta change a bit first."
"I am SO getting him a commline for this universe tomorrow," Seena mock grumbled before 'connecting'. "Seena to Denver," she said, "a little, lost, puppy..."
"Hey!"
"... will be stopping by your door in thirty. Are you ready to receive, over?"

I think that out of those two, you've only really got one good option. Both of them aren't really my type, plus i'm not looking for anything anyway, but if you're going for who I think you're going for I'd say if you can get his mind out of whatever 'work mode' he's in for a moment then he'll come around with a bit of honesty. Of course I must say it's not guaranteed to work straight away, or even at all, but there is no harm in trying."

Dan simply nodded. "That's a yes then. I guess you already have some of 'yourselves' heading over there right now, huh?" He asked Hivemind.

Kolt was confused as to what Jenny would want to do that would require privacy, but ultimately decided it was better to wait and be surprised. He quietly followed Jenny around, waiting until she seemed done with making sure everything was ready for the team tonight before speaking up again. ”So, if you need some privacy for whatever it is you want to, I could alway just take us up to one of the nearby rooftops.”

”I mean, I got the name from an old Scooby Doo cartoon.”
Liz thought for a moment, putting her gun as she turned over a few different ideas in her head. ”I have several questions.” She said, refocusing her attention onto the old man. ”How a being like Diligitus could consider what is almost it’s food source as friends, whether you saying entities between the aspects are people is just a cute joke or if it’s meant to imply something more, what metaphysical concepts don’t have a corresponding Aspect if they’re as common as you say, but only one of them is really important; why us? Why are the three of us so important that you take the time out of your busy day of whatever it is your god has you do to come here and correct our assumptions about the way this completely nonsensical universe works?”

Seena would hear a spot of laughter on the other end before actual words came through, "A lost puppy. Cute. I'm out buying clothes so that I don't look like a bum, but I'll be ready in 30." He pulled a shirt off a rack and held it up to himself, receiving an approving nod from Colorado in return. "She's not going to wear some sort of formal wear is she? Cause right now I've got a t-shirt and shorts..."

"Well," Jenny commented playfully, "I suppose we could, yeah?" She put an arm around the back of his waist to hold on. "We have a couple of minutes."

Sana impulsively looked down at herself, as though judging what she was currently wearing as inadequate, which it was. "You can tell him I'm going to be in a simple dress. No, hang on, don't tell him simple. It's a nice dress. Uh, outfit. Tell him that."
"Why bother," Seena replied casually. "You just did. I'm merely the 'on' button for the comm."
"Is it too late to change my story on the outfit to 'wildly expensive, Denver," Sana asked.

Hivemind continued to lead Hawk down into the Champions Only area of the tower. They exited the elevator and headed down the hallway. There were a number of rooms down here, each one with a label. Forge, armory, gym, obstacle course, illusory training room, and more. "This is where Champions tend to do their non-field training. We've got every facility you can think of down here, and probably some you would have no reason to think of." Hivemind said.

"That does sound interesting. You do not mind me being in your head even when you are not piloting me? I realize privacy may be a concern..." MT said as he continued to walk. They were getting in range of the motel and the garage that MT would be staying at. "Would you like to check out the garage with me, or would you like me to drop you off at the Hotel?"

I have droids everywhere, and that includes at every theme park, movie theater, arcade, and entertainment facility on the ship. I consume hundreds of lifetimes worth of entertainment media every day. Trust me, I get to enjoy plenty of leisurely activities."

Her demeanor shifted slightly at Hivemind's second question, her arms returning to her side.
Hivemind shook his head. "I can't say for sure why Diligitis specifically stopped Cupiditas from trying to corrupt you. I don't know why he possessed your shell, or why he decided to repair it and make it an artifact in the first place. You would have to ask him all of that yourself." He said. "Which... come to think of it, if he's in your shell, or rather in your sentimental feelings about the shell, you should be able to do that rather easily. Cupiditas, on the other hand..." Hivemind paused. It looked like he was trying to figure out the best way to say what he was thinking. "Typically, mercenaries fall under Cupiditas's domain by default. The job involves risking one's life, taking others' lives, and not asking questions about morality in exchange for financial gain. Whether a mercenary considers it personal or professional, Cupiditas appreciates placing payment or personal gain over moral questions."

Hivemind paused for a bit longer. "On the other hand, you are a Champion. That might be why Diligitis took a liking to you. I didn't say how much Champions were paid on the job promotion in order to attract people willing to risk their lives to help or save others not because of how much it paid, but because it's the right thing to do. May I ask, what made you decide to switch from Mercenary to Champion?"

Predator opened it's jaws once more, and the portal device came alive. The complex machinery and electronics whirred and glowed and sparked, and in a flash of light everyone who was on the "bridge" was outside and standing in the middle of a hanger with the exception of Kobor and Talya. A hive droid was approaching.

"Welcome back, everybody. Nat, if you would please follow me. Everyone else, you know your way around. Predator, please upload the scientists and guards into the Server for now. "Mr. Jay, please come with me and we'll figure out what we should do."

Predator nodded at Hivemind and walked off through a vehicle-sized portal door and entered the droid room he first woke up in. Once again, he could not describe why everything looked different, but this was the first time he was seeing it while fully sentient.

"Hannabelle, ah'll be with ya shortly. Just have to talk with the doc for a minute." He waved to Hannabelle, then walked off with Rika. Once he was sure they weren't being listened to, he asked. "What was it ya were gonna say back in the drone? Ya cut yerself off."

Why are the three of us so important that you take the time out of your busy day of whatever it is your god has you do to come here and correct our assumptions about the way this completely nonsensical universe works?”
"Well, important or not, I'll try to answer all of them." The old man said, smiling. "First, food source isn't exactly an accurate parallel. When I say consumed by an aspect, it's really rather metaphorical. For Diligitis, he gets stronger the more people love, as the more people love the more of him there is. If someone is "consumed" by love, and completely filled with it, it lets Diligitis interact much more directly with the world through them. However, as Diligitis's nature is that of love, his motivation is not for his own happiness, but the happiness of mortals. He wants us to be happy and healthy. He just happens to get the side benefit of growing stronger the more love is spread."

"When I said people were between the aspects, I meant literally mortals. Aspects are kind of like pieces of our minds and souls. Mortals have a little of each aspect in them, but some are stronger in them than others. Whichever one is strongest in them is generally the one who claims the mortal as part of their domain. So that grey area on the spectrum in between the aspects consists of the mortals who have a bit of both sides inside of them. Does that make sense?"

"I can't think of any metaphysical concept that doesn't have an aspect, but again most of them are rather innocuous, and don't interact or manifest fully in the physical world."

Finally, the old man came to the final question, and his face grew serious. "Because you are Champions. You are going to face enemies and grave threats. Some of them, very soon. Some of them will try to tear you away from the protection of Diligitis. You can't afford to be distracted by these questions, like whether death has meaning. It does have meaning. A lot of meaning. Not everyone can go to Diligitis's realm when they die, and no other aspect allows these kinds of visits. Technically, they are against a number of rules, but..." He laughed. "Diligitis doesn't follow rules if breaking them helps mortals. He's more than happy to take flak from the other aspects if it means easing a mortal's pain."

Tatiana shrugged lightly, "Eh, it was a combination of things. Ten years of being a merc on the Rim can be a bit draining. I enjoyed it well enough, the dynamic between the other mercs was nice, a sort of mutual understanding that we'd fight to the death if we had to but were otherwise friendly enough. Being a merc on the Rim meant freedom, growing stronger, getting to choose every step. It was surprisingly professional all things considered. But in the end you only have yourself out there. Even as I ran up the ranks, took jobs directly from the head guys like Lazarus and Sheath, and they paid quite well, I was alone. It wasn't until I got captured in a bad way and was forced to escape on my own that I started to long for someplace better I guess." She stopped leaning against her second shell, "All of the Rim knows the unwritten rules. I just grew tired, felt more unsafe than I ever did. So, one reason I guess was more security. Maybe less freedom overall compared, but safer, a chance to grow stronger. Also kinda nice to work for a super power that isn't as terrifying. Oh, you are absolutely monsterous. But in a shiny way."

"I don't regret my time in the Rim. But so far being a champion has been... nicer. Overall, becoming a champion just, sorta made sense as the next step of my life I guess." Tatiana fell silent for a moment before continuing, "... I think I'll try talking with Diligitis through my shell sometime." She faced Hive fully, head tilted again, "Was I making sense at all? I'm not sure if I was making sense."

Sana and Seena split up after landing to get to their rooms. The little Fennekin agent, having mostly just what she'd packed for the holiday/mission to find Jaken, was thankful she'd thought to pack the Green dress her Mother had recommended a few years back as 'the one most likely to catch the eye of a prospective mate' and, although Sana didn't like to acknowledge that last bit of the adulation, she didn't mind the first bit and she made up her mind to get that quick-pressed whilst the servo driods stocked her fridge full of drinks.

Seena, on the other hand, only went wrong twice on her way back to her own door and, finding she'd beaten Colorado back, put on a long robe so she could surprise him with the new outfit by taking it off. She sat to see what was on TV and if the replication food systems could do Ham and Banana pizza.
-----------
"Of course, Gear," Hannabelle said, letting him go before calling in on Jenevive and the cubs via a Commlink and assuring them she was back, in one piece and taking Gear out to the cinema. She gently rebuked someone for their reaction and was happy to hear the other two back her up.
-----------
"Better let you get on, then," Messalca told Gadgeteer. "Leastways, if'n yer with this lot you should be OK," she added with a wry grin.
----------
Jaken waited on his Chicken and fought down the urge to 'pounce' on it when it arrived.
----------
Sarah bowed her head slightly in respect. "M'lord," she said, "M'lady, M'sir," She glanced at Aggie and, recalling the things Cailean had said about her, gave a slight grin before dropping into a faux 'karate' pose. "Miyaggie," hoping the girl would get the 'Karate Kid' gag. "Moggie," she added to Dabry.
Dabry rolled his eyes theatrically. "Is it 'pick on the Cat' hour?" he said before Sarah hugged him. "Ack! missed you too, Geordie!"

As soon as he was sure Jenny had a tight grip, Kolt flew off, heading for a flat rooftop roughly a block away. Once he landed down, he made himself comfortable on an air conditioning unit, sitting down and flashing a warm smile at his partner. ”So, what exactly was it you wanted to do, and uh, who exactly “gave you permission” to do it?”

”Yes, I know your use of the word consume was as a metaphor, I was referring to the fact that since he’s a being compromised of, as you put it, “the collective love of all living things,” we are essentially what sustains his existence. That’s why I thought it would be appropriate to describe us as his food source.” Liz said, a little annoyed that the Hobomancer misinterpreted what she said. ”Also, could you tell us what that “grave threat” coming soon is? Maybe give us some tips on how to beat it?”
Lewis meanwhile was trying very hard not to show how much he regretted taking up Corp’s offer of a sip of whiskey, silently nodding with whatever he was saying. He understood had rare it was for the mouse to share something from his private stash, so he tried to keep how disgusting he found the taste of it internal in order to avoid potentially offending him. Of course, Corp’s new empath abilities made that whole endeavor pointless, but it was a little hard to remember that while he had the taste of burnt rubber in his mouth.

Jenny sat down right beside Kolt and looked him in the eye. "Oh," she grinned, "you'll probably work out 'who' the second I do it. Which is this." With that she brought the crooked fingers of one hand up under Kolt's muzzle where Quint had intimated and gently rubbed as he'd told her to do.

"It's supposed to be Brandy for this sort of thing," Corp sort of grumped. "We'll have to get some tomorrow. Least it means I can leave the bottle out, hm? And it'll be along the lines of 'stand with your team, rely on your strengths and accept useful offers of help, Captain. Advice from higher beings often is, I understand."

"Aaand… done, that really seemed like an entrance test." Brad said. and looking down at Ken, he says "Don't tell me you're trying to beat the Zevian world record of Tetris again." and pulls out Tetris from the Gameboy Color, which makes Ken turn back to normal and start barking at him. "Come on, Ken, this is for you too."

"Good. I know it's probably not our place but we do still worry about you." Romeo paused. "Well, maybe not so much anymore," he added with a chuckle.
------
Chris shook his head, "Considering that being your own person generally entitles you to a certain amount of privacy, I did plan on adding in a sort of privacy mode, two way of course. I figured it'd have a sort of call system though, like how you can turn off all the notifications on your phone but you'll still get one of those national messages that pops up if someone gets kidnapped or if there's a natural disaster in the area. It's a pretty simple system but it's probably the most effective one." He stopped as they neared the their destination, "Hm, garage. Better place to draw up plans for it."

Meanwhile the two dogs had finally finished up their shopping about as fast as they could before heading to where they would be meeting their dates.

Jenny would find herself suddenly supporting a lot of Kolt’s weight, most of her boyfriends body going limp as he leaned into hers. His tail was wagging harder than it had ever wagged before, his eyes were glazed and half closed, and what could best be described as a happy gurgling noise was coming out of his throat. He seemed to be trying to say something, but, currently lacking to ability to properly use his tongue, it came out sounding like ”uhlulvoosohlmah.”

"I und'rstand," Sarah nodded, letting Dabry go and stagger back slightly, "ah nev'r use m' title eith'r. Them's for those bett'r 'n me. NOT," she added, pointing to Dabry, who was just about to say something, "includin' th' Hold rats!"
I wasn't going to say that," Dabry countered before taking a sip of his drink. I was going to say I was surprised you were admitting there were any better than you." His eyes looked shiftily from side to side.
-----------------------
Jenny had to laugh, even though warmly, as Kolt leaned into her. She kept her arm around him for a few moments, enjoying the feel of him next to her as she kept rubbing before finally relenting, putting her face close to his. "Guess you'll have to get him back," she asked lightly, before gently kissing him for a second or two.
---------------------
Seena rose as their door opened, allowing Colorado in. She walked around the Coffee table and to the wall system so she could get him his favourite drink and hand it to him as the door closed. "You look bushed, Love," she said.
-------------------
Sana checked out the dress in the mirror and patted it down. She figured it fitted her tail well and she just remembered something else before heading for the fridge to get some of the Canine drink from the fridge. She remembered she had to put shoes on and went for the green pair.
-------------------
Saffy swallowed as her brain raced to catch up with events here as she got the linen back. "Th...thanks," she managed. "S... uh, Speeder, yeah," she asked, knees still knocking together slightly. "I, um, thought the, uh, Champions only had, um, her," she finished, nodding towards Recon by one of the rooms.

SeanWolf wrote:"Well, you gotta be prepared for anything, right? No matter what it is." Hawk responded, his eyes taking in the sights while also taking note of the rooms themselves, with one leading him to ask "Think you can show me the armory sometime? I'm curious to see what non-taser weapons this place as, along with maybe replacing two of my own personal weapons."
"Of course." Hivemind said, stepping over to the door to the armory. "We have plenty of non-taser weapons of all types. Local security forces, aka me, carry primarily taser weapons on the Beacon because that is normally all we need to stop civilian crime. Taser weapons are all civilians are allowed to possess because allowing anything lethal runs the risk of the weapon being stolen, used offensively, or misfiring in a tragic accident." Hivemind said. "Champions who are trained to use them responsibly are allowed to carry heavier weapons, but generally not openly in civilian areas of the Beacon. Enough powers cause lethal ammunition to be little more than an inconvenience, and nonlethal ammunition to be useless."

Hivemind opened the door to show the inside of the armory. The room was massive, with shelves packed with weapons of all kinds towering above the both of them. The weapons were organized into super-groups, categories, and subcategories. There were ranged weapons, throwing weapons, melee weapons, energy weapons, solid state weapons, explosives, grenades, and specialty equipment. Aside from the entrance, there were two doors. One led to a room labeled "Armor and Defense" and the other led to the illusory training room. "The weapons here are loaded with illusory ammunition that won't work outside of the training grounds. Anything from this room has security systems in place. Aim a Champion weapon at a marked civilian, the weapon won't fire."

Neon Icy Wings wrote:Tatiana shrugged lightly, "Eh, it was a combination of things.

"Cupiditas loves the phrase 'It's not personal, it's professional.'" Hivemind cautioned. "In fact, the fact that the fight to the death is professional and not personal is why it falls under him and not Odium." He shook his head and continued. "You're making sense. However, I recommend you attempt to contact Diligitis as soon as possible. We hadn't had a demon attack in nearly five years, and then we had three in the past four days. If things keep going like this, we will definitely need as much angel help as we can get."

Worst case scenario, we can just follow the crowd of people taking pictures of the giant robot dragon walking down your streets. Guess I'll be off then." the Varanian champion gave a slight bow and walked off.

"So you're the LEGION, eh," Messalca queried wryly, as she assessed the multi-personality bot she was looking at. "OK, let's go set you up with whatever else you need at the Station, yeah?" She clapped a reassuring hand on Legion's shoulder and winced as she remembered he was metal hard. "Actually... I moment. Deputy Falco," she said, calling over her youngest, sprightliest, deputy before heading to Gadgeteer. "Sorry," she said, "couldn't help earwigging what you said. I've seen threats destabilised by the guy or whatever they're frightened of doing something silly and an idea sprung to mind. Reckon my deputy could fit on your shoulder?" She glowered down the protest from her deputy. "Silly and Police Escort might make them feel doubly safe."

"Yeah," Hannabelle replied, "and I think Jenevive's softening. Usually she says 'you're not dead, then'? Today it was 'glad you're not dead'. I'm winning her over!"

"I, um, I..." Saffy swallowed to compose herself as she realised she was embarrassing herself in front of one of the Lycan's team-mates. "I'm Sarafina. Or Saffy. I prefer Saffy. Dad's in Apartment Four and..." Her brain caught up with what Recon had said and demanded the answer to one question. "Champions make their own beds?"

Hawk's eyes lit up as they entered the armory as he never seen this many weapons in a long time. While some he didn't recognize, most of which he did, with some bringing a smile to his face, "Well, I for one would love to see someone try to take my guns as...well, as I showed you earlier with my other side. I gotta say, this is a excellent armory...I don't believe this..." Hawk's attention was quickly brought to that of one shotgun in particular. Walking over to it, he places his paw on it and quips "Man, I haven't seen one of these since the Centurion VI Miner Rebellion." Picking up the gun, he kept he aimed away from the Hivebot and instead aimed it at the ceiling, admiring the sights and reacquainting himself with the gun, "I tell you one thing, you load this puppy up and point it at a crowd of idiots...the only one walking out of that will be the one with this gun," he tells the Hivebot as he puts it back, "Although I love this gun, I prefer the guns I have on my ship, like my double barrel and revolvers...apologies, I just got a bit distracted by the weapons here" he chuckles.

I wasn't going to say that," Dabry countered before taking a sip of his drink. I was going to say I was surprised you were admitting there were any better than you." His eyes looked shiftily from side to side.
"Tha's one o' th' things Ah love aboot Sarah. She's so humble!" Cailean wags, licking Sarah's muzzle.

"Aye, Sarah. Tha', an' when yer up here, titles just aren't important any more." Aileas adds.

"S... uh, Speeder, yeah," she asked, knees still knocking together slightly. "I, um, thought the, uh, Champions only had, um, her," she finished, nodding towards Recon by one of the rooms.
Recon poked her head out of the room to see what the commotion was, though she had a pretty good idea. "Traci! There you are! What took you so long?" Recon joked. "Come on! Let's help set things up! I bet Miss... um... I bet she would appreciate the help." Recon said, pointing to Saffy. "Sorry. I don't know your name..."

Dad's in Apartment Four and..." Her brain caught up with what Recon had said and demanded the answer to one question. "Champions make their own beds?"
"Of course we do! We're still just people, y'know?" Traci said in reply to Saffy's question. "Aaanyway.. I am, as you heard from Recon, Traci. Traci Shwarte, a newer speedster Champion. Pleasure to meet you Saffy! Now let us help you get these rooms ready for the others, eh?" She finished, gesturing for Saffy to lead on.

CyberDragon wrote:"Predator needs to be socialized in a non-combat environment anyway. Once he's done dropping some people off, he'll be free to speak with you. If we take the train back, he should be done by the time we get there. Let's head on then!" He said, leading them back to the train station.
Dan followed Hive to the station, keeping Keeva close with his arm around her waist.

CyberDragon wrote:"Ah... Yeah." Gear said, his shoulders sagging a little. "Yeah, they're extensive, but not by choice. There was therapy, an' an implant to control the pain. Didn't get rid of all my problems though... Anyway, I should get goin'. I'd appreciate a list of psychologists if ya can provide one. An' I suppose if ya really wanted to know, I could talk about what happened later. See ya around, doc." With that, Gear waved at Rika and walked off towards Hannabelle.
"Only if you're okay with telling me, Gear. Goodbye for now!" Rika replied before he headed off.
CyberDragon wrote:Right after that, a hive droid walked up to Rika. "Hello, Rika. Jaken is just about to get dinner. If you'll follow me, I'll take you to him."
Rika nodded to the Hive bot. "Ah, Alright. Thank you by the way, Hive, for keeping an eye on him for me.. With all these missions I don't think I could've kept up with him." She said thankfully as she followed the droid, looking down at her feet at the last part.

CyberDragon wrote:Gadgeteer started walking past Kol, not seeming surprised at all by her being there. "If I must. I know how things go. It's happened before, nearly every time we stop a Varanian invasion. We save the world, everything's all kumbaya and good feelings and hero worship. Then they see me, and the adoring public quickly turns into a mob that we can't fight. The team has to stand between me and them. Then they get accused of being Varanian sympathizers all along because they won't let the mob try to kill me. After that, we get kicked out of wherever we're staying, be it the hotel, the town, or the planet. That is why I hide, because I don't want hostile feelings towards my species to make things hard for my team."
"We have helmets. just keep the faceplate closed when we're outside. no need to hide." Kol deadpanned, pointing out the orbit-drop gear much of the team are still wearing, despite a quarter of said suits being in various states of disrepair at this point.

CyberDragon wrote:Once Predator was done uploading the witnesses into the Server, he started on his way to a different location. He stepped through a vehicle-sized portal door and exited out into the streets of the Capitol District. "Hivemind needs to speak with you in the Genemod lab. I can't fit inside the building, so I will need to send you in disarmed versions of the HK droids."
"got it." talya chimed in calling up the materialization routine and remote-pilot protocols.

"being a quadroped is still disorienting." kobor complained as the two walked inside.
Most important thing I've learned from D&D?
No matter how tempting it may be, as a DM I can't both present a problem and solve it.
Every time a DMPC or NPC fixes something a payer couldn't i'm diminishing and undermining that player's contribution.

"I want to stay here on the Beacon, but I would like to visit Lara Jay on Zevian, her husband, Htetakar Jay, was the only kind scientist on the ZSSC, Zevian Science Space Center, before it blew up, and I treated him like a father." Nat said, "By the way, how many millions of dollars are houses here?"

"Got it, Captain Hivemind." Brad replied, and followed him.
