Ok... not what I expected. Thomas cant catch a break, can he? So did Lois or Poncho throw that?

Well, this is fairly straight forward. He is super unhappy and miserable and deserves it. He did not have a mental breakdown just a depressive spiral into self-pity and loathing. The coconut thing is weird. I do have a feeling that the Milton's have stopped by to see him previously.

Another problem solved by violence!
Re: 2019/10/11 - A Lovely Bunch
He'd have recognized the voice if it was the ferrets. The speaker is either Marion, Lois or Poncho or some combo. Though as I type this the character tags aren't up so I could be proved wrong pretty fast.fenrirblack wrote:Well, this is fairly straight forward. He is super unhappy and miserable and deserves it. Tags are up for me, but I do believe Fenrir meant the ferrets have been by at some point in the past (which may have influenced his opinion of people who know his real name "dropping by" )

The "real name" quip means the name Thomas isn't common knowledge in the zoo, so does that mean he made up a name for his camel self?
It's Marion Speaking, though I don't think he can throw a coconut like that at his present size.dr_eirik wrote:He'd have recognized the voice if it was the ferrets. Lois throwing the coconut is just precisely what I have come to expect of her thus far and I heartily approve

A coconut right to the melon,
Yeah, that's surely going to sting,
Thomas, zero, coconut one,
Oh, what trouble they do bring.
I see we're finally at the zoo,
They've found the camel they seek,
But his mind's surely turned to goo
From that concussion, now give it a week.
Thomas doesn't look like he's adjusted well,
He don't want to be no camel,
Gee, I wonder who else can tell
He feels he's the wrong kind of mammal.
All nuts aside, both big and small,
They're finally getting help.
Here's hoping Thomas will answer the call
After he lets out a yelp.
I hope they haven't broken him,
That surely would be bad,
For now, well, things don't look quite grim,
Please, Thomas, don't be mad...
Thomas just wants to be left in peace,
Not dragged into a situation hairy,
But calm down, Marion, alright, geez,
No coconuts for this dromedary.

Re: 2019/10/11 - A Lovely Bunch
The angle from where the word bubble and rocks/nuts are coming from makes me think it’s Marion doing both the talking and the throwing; imagining the tiny squirrel hurling a coconut down from a tree right into Thomas’ face is just too perfect.
With the right community, getting into a webcomic at the beginning of a brand new arc can feel just as enjoyable and rewarding as being there from the beginning.

Well there’s a way to wake him up,
tossing pebbles at him and stuff.
Someone must be scritching Poncho
or he would have said ‘enough’.
The question of ‘where from’ is good;
but better is the one of ‘who’?
Marion couldn’t lift THAT up
and is it what Lois would do?
They’ve got his attention for now,
they know the moustache by it’s name.
Will he tell what they want to know
or will he tell of all his shame?
tossing pebbles at him and stuff.

My unfamiliarity with green coconuts strikes again! I thought that was a watermelon until I saw the hidden text.

Who threw that thing? Hey, chum, a lot of baseball teams are looking for pitchers, and the strike zone is bigger than a camel head!

Where did they get an unhusked coconut? That's way too big for either an African or European swallow to carry.

What is the stall speed of an African swallow carrying a 1 pound coconut?

Me three, I'd love for Marion to have some kind of super strength(for a squirrel) is amusing. I do wonder where they found the coconut though.LunarFox wrote:Me too.D-Rock wrote:I will hold to this until proven otherwise.Ash Greytree wrote:The angle from where the word bubble and rocks/nuts are coming from makes me think it’s Marion doing both the talking and the throwing; imagining the tiny squirrel hurling a coconut down from a tree right into Thomas’ face is just too perfect.

Maybe they got it from a local vendor... It's amazing what you can buy from a push-cart these days.

I'll admit that I was sure it was a watermelon at first. I didn't even think of a coconut.

I like how Thomas still has that bushy "mustache."
King looks an awful lot like my own Corgi. That's one reason why he's my favorite, but I also like his attitude.

That little detail has made me wonder about Marions much lighter foot. I've wondered if its just a design flourish or if it's going to come up later.Bill in OK wrote:I like how Thomas still has that bushy "mustache."

I thought that coconut was a watermelon at first. It’s HUGE!
Douglas isn't my real name, but because of a name block put on me by a higher-order being known as Djinni, I can't say my real name.

And there's sleepy Thomas, who looks also bored, maybe because of being an ex-human closed in a zoo... It's afternoon's coconut time, as seems. But, are you crazy throwing it at his face? There should be a palm tree there.

I hope that Lois knew what she was doing when she threw that coconut straight at Thomas's face to get his attention. Coconuts are hard enough to kill so she better made sure it wouldn't do too much damage.
Re: 2019/10/11 - A Lovely Bunch
It'd be funny if the thrower is one of the other camels. That would make a lot of sense since he probably has an unlikable personality and I wouldn't be surprised if they were plotting to kill him, but I'm pretty sure it was Lois that lobbed it at him and she apparently didn't get the memo that a coconut is hard enough to fracture a skull.
Re: 2019/10/11 - A Lovely Bunch
… not really the best way to introduce yourself to someone you hope will do you a favor.
But … perhaps Thomas is gonna think - "If they wanna find a way to turn this little twerp back into a human, maybe that's my ticket outta "Zoo Parade!" - and he might prove helpful.
