Ha, I would love to see it as a rap on youtube, I could guarantee it could be popular. Anyway, yeah, I'm aware my poem is a little strange and "chatoic" but that's how I like it. I would love to show my poem to an english teacher and see what they say. But, I'm someone who likes be strange and write things that people won't get.

Reality

Every day I ponder,
in the quiet of the night,
why reality seems too real
and life seems utterly fake.

It is no great wonder
why I would ask such questions
when fiction brings moving emotion
through unobtainable dreams.

To read is to escape,
escape from reality
and it's deathly coils of logic,
smothered in its cold reason.

In the inky darkness,
I lie, finding comfort in
dreams of an unreachable world
but one which will never end.

I sometimes get hung up after I read books that draw me so fully into the fantasy that I wish that I lived in a different reality. This one seems too real and dull almost all the time. At least there are still my books...

Sorry for the mass of poems I've been doing, but without anything better to do... well let's just say its been fun writing them.

Digital Dreams

Digital dreams crossing over the sea,
welcome to the deadlock of reality.

You are trapped in a dream,
confined to a static farce of reality.
You scream in silent anguish,
imprisoned in the truth.

Digital dreams crossing over the sea,
welcome to the deadlock of reality.

Attempts to escape fail,
your sanity begins to fade,
drowned in unquestionable logic,
icy reason assaults your brain.

Digital dreams crossing over the sea,
welcome to the deadlock of reality.

Your final hour upon you,
you flee the final blow,
fearing the loss of your inner self,
you seek comfort in sleep, and dream.

Digital dreams crossing over the sea,
escaping from the deadlock of reality.

Seems to me I really enjoy the idea of escaping real life, well its true. Sometimes looking to the future, life seems so bland.

Sorry for double post, I passed up on the last poem I did because I didn't want to do that, but... I'm really proud of how this one turned out. Inspiration is DJ Shadow's Midnight in a Perfect World. Enjoy.

Midnight Hour

Sleepless by choice,
Enshrined in darkness,
awake to welcome
the Midnight Hour.

Thoughts disjointed,
swim lazily through,
tired brain, in
the Midnight Hour.

Reflections of,
the days past,
a myriad of emotions,
and forgotten devotions,
thrown to the wind.

Insights revealed,
within mellow tune,
it answers the question,
forgetting to mention,
the facade of truth.

Steady rhythm,
soothing muse,
speaking through
the Midnight Hour.

Reaffirming
my purpose, off beat,
Now approaching,
the Midnight Hour.

In 1 world we have a boy,
with dreams as big as the world.
In the next we have numbers,
that work only to carry on.

The differance is just small,
both live and both try hard,
both dream the same dreams,
both understand nothing at all.

Both have a start,
both have an end,
both have a life,
both are just small.

They differ in looks alone,
they are the same in all else,
as there is a higher number,
there is a better man...

1 is never the best.
1 is never the worst.
1 is just like every 1 else.
Is 1 you? Is 1 me?

Are we both 1?

First posted on my DA here. I have stuff on there that I don't post here (mostly because I would flood this if I posted all my stuff).

Lecture in Monotone

Meaningless words
high pitched droning
drowning in
Lecture in Monotone.

Students asking
inane questions
lengthening
Lecture in Monotone.

Sanity fades
stark raving mad
stuck within
Lecture in Monotone.

Had a really bad lecture today, three people kept asking stupid questions or inane observations. I don't pay craptons of money for them to talk, I do it for the professor who is accredited in the field of discussion to talk. Some profs need to know when to tell people to shut the <coarse word> up.

There once was a guy named joel.
Being with PETA, he hadn't a soul.
But along came pete
And the time they did meet.
Now he's a corgi, Who's named king and not joel

The sun fades low the horizon,
leaving the sky burnt crimson.
On the chilled air a voice,
A piercing cry of swallows my soul,
and haunts me to the core.
Beyond civilization,
past the preened yards and paved driveways of suberbia,
nature still thrives.
We are but unwanted visitors on the land,
Always watched,
by those who 'fore us roamed...

Watch out, horrible poetry incoming!
This is my very first poem I write in english, so I tried keeping it in simple rhymes.

I´m lacking the creation
I miss the ideas, mental aviation
No words to join the poetry thread
To fail at this, it makes me sad.

For I CAN do that, I surely know
But it is all in german though.
Let´s try to keep this short and nice
And leave you with a small advice:

Do not compose too late at night
There wont be something smart in sight!

This one I wrote in psych class. I was just staring at my blank page trying to think of something to do, then thought about what most people must feel when trying to produce something, or at least that's how I feel a lot of the time.

Blank Paper

Blank paper, empty, white,
taunting, daring you
to mar its cleanliness
with dark strokes and deep thoughts.

Your pencil stops, pauses
are the thoughts within
worth more than the clean slate
that you will place them on?

Will someone, yet unknown
take the time to view
the effort, toil spent
and find value inside.

Many will surrender
never to commit
and place their thoughts for all
to see, never to fill
Blank Paper.

That means a lot to me. I really love thinking bout those difficult thoughts and in reality I'm not really trying to solve them, just explain them and how they feel to me. Everyone feels like creating at some point in their life and at some point in adolescence they start worrying what people will think of their work. I know I could've done a lot of things if I hadn't worried bout what someone else would think so I kinda wanted to encourage people to run with their ideas, and hey if it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out, but at least you tried.

Claustrophobic Walls, closing in on her
and a baby is born.
The doctor needs congratulations,
for his special skill.
So he asks her to kiss the baby.
She kisses the baby with it's liberty spiked hair,
and the doctor asks for one too.
She goes to kiss the doctor on his cheek,
and he turns around and gets kissed on the lips.
The Headless Horseman is there and I stand.
I start to lose my sight, having trouble seeing.
I start to get dizzy, I'm spinning, I can't stop moving.

Since this is the Poetry Corner... who else likes Robert Frost, Langston Hughes and William Shakespeare?

@Zeek-
Digital Dreams & Blank Paper & Reality are AMAZING. 'Nuff said.

~~~~~~~ One of my own:
The City At Dusk (written when I was 12... don't hate me ._. )
The tall buildings standing watch over their people.
Birds soaring over the glassy stares of the giants.
A radiant sunset falling over the lake.
This is the city at dusk.
Let me tell you about Homestuck.
Look what happens when Medli has a low mood phase^^
Do a phone call, yes.
From time to time you´ll need it.
Talk to someone you love,
But don´t tell them!
You don´t know if they have the same feelings.
Also they might laugh at you.
And don´t forget to show them your inner self!
What you REALLY want, what you REALLY are.
You think you´re doing that all the time? Ha!
I thought the same.
You are wearing a mask, just as I do and just EVERYONE out there!
Do a phone call.
Call your conscience.
Ask it. It will tell you the same.
You lied to them, again and again.
Still don´t believe me?
Let me ask you:
Do you want to come with me?
Imagine a loved face.
Someone you´d give an arm for.
Now tell me.
Would you?
Do a phone call.
Call me. Ask me.
I wont judge you.
I will understand you.
I KNOW you.
Yes, I know what you feel.
I know how you work.
I have studied you and your kind for years!
Common people, you and me, but still not us.
Because, inside we´re different.
Insert Fitting Words
Insert fitting words
For the void that is devouring me
The void that my mind sometimes distorts
To give me a slightly feel of safety.
Insert fitting words
For the million shards of broken hearts
Broken by a stomping herd
Of fools and idiots who just betrayed me
Ignored, beaten, offended and hurt
But there is no wound that I haven´t taken!
There will be their day of court
And I know no thing is yet forsaken!
I´ll just go on like I don´t care
And sometimes all the wounds go deep
But I gotta be strong, I may not dare
´Cause otherwise I cannot guard my "sheep"
Those people always ask for my help
Depending on my advice
And I´m no more than just a welp
The kid behind these dark brown eyes
For my friends I would do all
They just don´t see
For them I would let go and fall
Into the pits of eternity
I´ll get my share, no matter what
And what I have downwritten here...
All I wanna say is that
I´m living in a constant fear.
Just read through this thread and figured I'd give this peotry thing a shot:
Her love saved my life
My life saved the world
I don't want to be the chosen one
and have my pointless life unfurled
Cannons scream my name
Spears pierce the sky
Why am I the chosen one,
for the tyrants, I must die?
The world needs a savior
To me, why did they call?
Hoisting me was the greatest challenge of all
My love won't let me fall
Above the battle
I hang by a thread
Was my name interpreted,
in a prophecy, they read?
She wants me to live
To save the world
Peace above, chaos below
My love won't let me go.
EDIT: I think I'm getting the hang of this. So that first one was about wanting to be the same, heres one about wanting to be different:
Bells of independence ring through the air
Charmed individuals, individual and free
Aspire to be nothing like me
Nothing like you
Nothing like me
Their rings sing to be free
Bells of independence ring through the air
Cursed beings clang with the choir
Continue to be just like me
Just like you
Just like me
Just like we?
Their rings won't be free
Bells of independence ring through the air
But my destiny is not expressed
Do I want to be safe?
Be free?
Be you?
Be me?
For now I ring with the rest.
EDIT EDIT: This one is kinda lame, but posting it for the world is better than letting the effort go in the trash, right? RIGHT?
My mind is lost
I've lost my mind
Insanity!
Sanity:
I'll never find
Out
Shout!
Who did this to me
I'll find who lost my mind
Is lost
I've lost my mine
It won't be yours
Sanity?
Insanity!
I have to find
Out
Shout!
Who'd do this to me?
I'm afraid I've lost my mind
Short one but meh.
The heart which I rely on to live and love
A tool I use to keep myself up and going
The most precious part of my body
Has been ripped out and ripped to shreds
However been through that I've been able to patch it back together.
But to what use? Only to be ripped out and stomped on once more.
I sit there, all alone and crying, feeling empty and lonely.
One last try, I pick it up and stitch it together.
And there you all are, my friends helping me pull through.
Everyone making me smile in one way or another.
Forever, I will be thankful for this.
Forever, I will be thankful for such awesome friends.
*Ahem*
Oh, lady love
Lady night
I'll hold you close
Hold you tight
Enchanting Dance
I'll get the chance
To come and take you
Far Far away, Misirlou
Compared to thee
me lady
The queen she has
No beauty
I'll kill the king
just to hear you sing
I'll come and free you
Far Far away, misirlou
I'll sneek you across the Gaurds!
...Across the yards!
Just to come!
...and get you!
Misirlou!
Ah ya habibi,
Ah ya ha leh-leli, ah!
I'll come to marry you
Ooh, me lady misirlou
*Thunderous applause*
Thank you, Thank you ladies and geltleman! :D
(note: for those curious, this Poem is based off of the greek song: Μισιρλού [Misirlou. roughly translates into, "My Egyptian Girl"]. This song is better know in the states as the theme from Pulp Fiction)
The heart which I rely on to live and love
A tool I use to keep myself up and going
The most precious part of my body
Has been ripped out and ripped to shreds
However been through that I've been able to patch it back together.
But to what use? Only to be ripped out and stomped on once more.
I sit there, all alone and crying, feeling empty and lonely.
One last try, I pick it up and stitch it together.
And there you all are, my friends helping me pull through.
Everyone making me smile in one way or another.
Forever, I will be thankful for this.
Forever, I will be thankful for such awesome friends.
That's a great poem Tobee. You really gave an accurate and relate-able description of heartbreak.
If that was written out of personal experience, I'm so sorry you had to go through that. *Hugs* At the very least, we can always turn such great pain into beautiful works of art.
I approve, dude.
Oh, and that's perfectly acceptable to post here, in case folks don't wanna click through to FA (which some people avoid like something worth avoiding). Up to you, though.
I like it a lot. I wish I was good at poetry like you guys. I just don't really have the attention span to sit down and write... I'd rather be skateboarding or yoyoing. Speaking of mine, does anyone like my attempts at poetry? *hides*
Ten thousand needles are stuck in my head
It´s like my freaking inspiration was dead
Although there is this idea I´ve had
I already put it away and to bed
Ten thousand needles, right in my face!
They give me a feeling of glory and grace
And at the same time I feel like a god
I know that is exactly what I really am not.
Ten thousand needles, piercing my back
I bet these are the ones who are causing the lack
This endless void inside my mind
Like I was the only one of my kind.
Ten thousand needles, are you feeling them too?
Like there was something out bugging you?
They don´t cause any pain at all
Though they give me the feel I might fall.
A Christmas Just For Me - Text
Post by Anthroguy101 »
People, if you're clicking on a poem on FA you're not going to see anything bad or unsavory. It's just a poem, and I'm pretty sure mature ads are turned off by default (if you don't have an account, that is). Anyway, here it is:
It's that time of year again
Where people give and get
A time so full of spirit
And blissful feelings yet
I'm all alone inside this room
And don't know what to do
I feel I have no place to go
Since the end of me and you
The spirit that was left is lost
The damage has been done
I fell just like what you would want
And it is you that's won
I could be with my family
But scattered as they are
I don't know where we all could meet
So scattered and so far
As isolated as I feel
I feel it has to be
A time that I must spend alone
A Christmas just for me
Excellent poem.
Thanks 8D
Here is one I wrote for christmas and to Kai as a present :3
Kaido Saves Christmas
by ~Berenegeladurush
The winter was cold and snow was in the air,
But it was Christmas, so love was everywhere!
´Tis the tale of Kaido, a little cat boy
Who was filled with all but joy!
He had a family, loving and warm,
Wasn´t missing leg or arm
He had a meal, ´twas warm and nice,
And tasty too, had lots of spice!
He also had lots of toy
All were made to bring him joy!
But he felt uncomfy in his pelt
For joy was just the least he felt!
See, Kaido was a loving cat
Who always shared whatever he had!
His sadness came because he knew
Of the many poor people outside, who
Didn´t have it nice as he did.
And found that for Christmas it didn´t fit
That people weren´t as happy as him
So Kaido said, decided and grim:
"I´ll just send a letter to Santa the Clause!
Yes, I´ll send it, right from my house!
They shall be happy, a gift for each one,
In order to do this, the list must be long!"
So he went to the little town´s store
For extravagantly long papers and more!
He bought a sheet paper, in XXL
And an extra long pen for writing as well!
He went to write a long long list
Not a single of the people should be missed!
He checked every single phone book ever
And it seemed like he´d finish his tasking never.
But after writing for a long long night,
He finished the list and rolled it tight
And wrapped it up in colorful paper,
And finished with tacks from a colorful stapler!
Locked up tight and protected from rain,
He sent it with the Choo-Choo-Train!
The Choo-Choo-Train was quick and soon
The letter got to Santa at noon!
When Santa read the long, long list
He noticed the one that Kaido had missed:
When writing for all the people in need,
Kaido forgot himself indeed!
When Santa saw this, he laughed and said:
"This little boy is loving I´d bet!
He loves so much, he´s forgetting himself!
This is a thing he should not regret,
The biggest of presents this one should get!"
It was so then that on Christmas´s eve
That Santa came down, you would not believe!
He visited Kaido, right at his house,
And instead of gifting and leave like a mouse
Santa kneeled down to not speak from above
And said: "You are Kaido, the boy full of love!
You sent me a list, full of them names,
Written for everyone, even for James!
You forgot to add YOUR name and a wish,
So I decided, along with some fish,
To repay you for your loving deed,
So tell me boy, what is it you need?"
Kaido was thinking, it hurted his head!
But there was nothing he wanted so bad.
All he wished for was everyone to be
Happy and frolic all times in glee!
So he replied:
"Santa, all I wish I have got!
Please, bring gifts to those who have not!"
Santa smiled: "That´s a good choice",
So he climbed up the chimney, making no noise
When Kaido ran outside to wave him goodbyes,
He saw and did not trust his eyes:
Outside there were the people in need,
All of who had their gifts just recieved!
And Santa was sitting high up in his sleigh,
Laughing cheerfully since Kai saved their day!
He rode it all across the night sky,
And on the streets, the neighbours peeked shy
Then came out to celebrate,
The party was big, I tell you mate!
And they were more than full of joy,
Because of Kaido, the loving cat boy!
Happy end, no? ^_^
