Aww he just wants to keep wearing his cool eyepatch.
Re: 2020/04/22 - Patch Job
Love his dramatic question, Fox has been getting drama lessons somewhere. I'm guessing the he's going to have scars going forward. Also that fooling people with the patch will end badly for him.

He's got a cool battle scar, why would he want a patch to cover that up?

But eyepatches are so cool, Doc,
you’ve gotta let me have this.
I can see myself in big movies
where the hero’s stared to the abyss.
Kevin’s waiting for me outside,
I need to show him that I’m flash.
He’s seen my great physique before,
but the patch? It cuts quite a dash.
I’ll take it off someday, I swear,
when I need ‘both eyes on the prize’,
but, until then, I might, just might,
want to keep it from all the guys.

Re: 2020/04/22 - Patch Job
Ha! Pretty good. I could see some jokes about him messing up at some things because of lack of depth perception, but then when he needs some super night vision he can just take the patch off.
With the right community, getting into a webcomic at the beginning of a brand new arc can feel just as enjoyable and rewarding as being there from the beginning.
Re: 2020/04/22 - Patch Job
Suuure Fox, you wont look like a Bond villain but you'll gain you depth perception back

With the eye patch, Fox bears a striking resemblance to Rockstar Hawk.
What is with the line branching on the back of Fox's head down below his muzzle? It's not in the reflection and I don't see how it connects back.
Regardless, this strip doesn't fail at invoking a lot of emotion.

After all this time, Fox still wants to be hard. The only thing hard about him is his old habits (and their... dying I guess)

Re: 2020/04/22 - Patch Job
Well, that answers the question about how bad that scratch was. It seemed worse in the moment.
And TIL I prefer Fox without the eyepatch, so I've got that going for me.
Something else that's been bugging me for a bit, and I couldn't quite place it, was that there was always something off about how Rick drew the bottom half of his characters. I think I finally figured out what exactly it was: on the majority of his characters, from the knees down is basically a cylinder with three short, round toes that seems a bit too big proportionally to the rest of the legs/body. Doesn't really apply to this page, but this is the page where I finally figured it out so I guess it's as good a place to put this as any. Still not a fan of drawing these characters with such well-defined muscles, either. Too much in Uncanny Valley for my taste, I guess.

Just give Fox a black tank shirt, some camo pants, and he could pass as a pretty good Snake Plisken! Though I'm curious how much his encounter with Steward actually affected him mentally, other then him wanting the eye patch heh.

I just wonder about Kevin's question:
Is he worried Fox can't see or is he worried Fox doesn't have a reason to wear the eyepatch?
Both would be possible.
Also hey Fox:

Since Delusional Steve is the only other character with an eyepatch, Kevin might be worried that Fox's train is goin' `round the bend. The Pirate look doesn't go much with police work, but maybe our favorite insecure husky thinks it'll impress Spring and Summer (or Winter and Autumn, if they exist).HundKatzeMaus wrote: ↑Wed Apr 22, 2020 8:11 am I just wonder about Kevin's question:

Re: 2020/04/22 - Patch Job
Oh, yeah, Fox's eye after Steward's scratch... Phew, good that his sight is fine, there are only those scars which give him more personality. I prefer him with any damage, though... But, Fox, you like to wear that pirate bandage? And maybe it's just to cover the scars? Come on, better remove it, it's not good to force yourself to see with only one eye... You can cover the scars in another way, maybe with some sort of fur patches. You're also making Kevin worried by not telling him the truth, you evil Fox...
Re: 2020/04/22 - Patch Job
If Fox has been playing up the whole patch thing, then Kevin shouldn't have a reason to doubt that Fox needs it. Problem for Fox is if he can't be a K9 with one eye. Or if he has to go to an official department doctor that reports to his superiors.HundKatzeMaus wrote: ↑Wed Apr 22, 2020 8:11 am I just wonder about Kevin's question:

There's also another dog wearing an eyepatch as seen in King and Bailey's wedding. Wonder if he'll play a role concerning Fox's "dilemma."NHWestoN wrote: ↑Wed Apr 22, 2020 10:20 amSince Delusional Steve is the only other character with an eyepatch, Kevin might be worried that Fox's train is goin' `round the bend. I wonder if the other dog that showed up was what inspired Chaoko to make Bravo in the game that he put together which got discontinued (with no chance of reviving Bravo).

I think Fox would look good with glasses, kind of like a smaller Miles.

Now all he needs is the trench coat (and maybe a pirate hat) to complete the look.
Douglas isn't my real name, but because of a name block put on me by a higher-order being known as Djinni, I can't say my real name.

The title "Patch Job" is referring to Fox acquiring an eye patch, but I realized it can also be taken as the eye patch is a "patch job" for Fox's self worth, since he equates being edgy with being liked.
I'd say Kevin is worried Fox can't see and Fox doesn't want to talk about not having a reason to wear the eyepatch.HundKatzeMaus wrote:I just wonder about Kevin's question:

It's good to see Fox okay...
--
In Fox's life, he's had it rough,
So he wears the patch to seem tough,
But then the doc just calls his bluff,
"Your eye still works, it's fine,
You're not going to be blind,
And I think you're going to find
That you might not even mind
Those scars- they make you look tough.
