Scratch that - I myself bought the collar that Douglas wears. :P But still, not going to wear it. (unless maybe I'm completely alone with a lot of spare time)
Just be a furry in a good way! You don't have to be weird with it... But man Doug, you've eaten far more dog food than I have ;P

I haven't. They smell bad, and I doubt they taste any better.

Dog treats aren't that bad but I will probably not suggest eating them for health reasons. xD

Meh, the stuff we give our dog is sort of bland, and the flavor it does have isn't all that good.
I'm sure if I was a dog it would be more palatable. Then again, my dog doesn't like it all that much either.
Needless to say, I don't think I'm going to try it again. Twice is enough. :P

It's actually law that all Dog/Cat food must be edible by humans. Or it's held to some minimum standard that just happens to be above what humans can eat. Something like that.

Doesn't mean it's going to taste good, but if your 4 year old decides to eat from the dog/cat dish when you aren't looking, it isn't going to hurt them.

I've always had issues with my stomach, though it was more of it coming out the other end and massive pains then vomiting.

This video on furry fandom seems very nice

And it doesn't seem to focus on the bad sides of the fandom too much.

You're right, Foxyfluff. I like how that video portrays us. Really, the furry fandom is no different to any other fandom. Sure, there's the less-than-savoury side but the bulk of it is great. Most furries are just friendly, normal people and the fandom functions in basically an identical manner to other fandoms. It wasn't until I realised this that I actually decided to identify as furry and since I have started identifying as furry I've never looked back. I've made so many great new friends, both on HP! and elsewhere online and I've discovered so many great artists and musicians and writers and just average, ordinary people like me who are happy just being part of something where they can share their interests.

So yeah, I'm definitely furry and growing more so every day. :P

my assumption is: people thought it was weird, they saw evidence that supported that and chose to focus on that and ignore anything that proved that they're just normal people. that evidence happened to prove them weird in bad ways.
same thing that happened to bronies, Homestucks, and probably a bunch of other fandoms. Confirmation bias.

Because people find specific parts of it really wrong and repulsive. Parts that can't be discussed on this forum. It's the same reason that the MLP fandom can get such a bad rep for similar things, even if 90% of it isn't involved in them.

Think of the fandom like a restaurant. Say that 90% of all of the food on the menu is normal. Maybe some of it tastes AMAZING, maybe some of it is just okay, but it's nothing out of the ordinary to the causal person walking by.

... THEN you get to the last 10%. This is food that's only served behind closed doors in the back because of what it's made from, but anyone can walk into the back and request it. There is technically nothing wrong with the food, but it's all made from weird ingredients that don't look appetizing, don't taste normal, and leave some people feeling sick.

When people talk about that restaurant, what are they going to talk about? The "gross" food. Not the good stuff. Eventually, people who have never been there only have only heard that this place has bad food. Until they're told otherwise by someone who knows about the good food and the fact that it does indeed stay separated, they aren't even going to give it a chance. And they tell of of their friends that too. And it goes on, and on, and on.

(Sorry Brent, you ninja'd me but I'm posting anyway. :P)

I strongly doubt there'd be much of a market for that. :P

Or many ways to actually execute it that doesn't violate health code. All that faux fur around food... *shivers*

I used to call myself a furry, had a fursona and anything, but that was a few years back and I guess I just grew out of it.
I'll fill this in later. Probably with pictures of cats. This is the internet after all.
