Joy: I have a few days off so I don't have to go back to work until Thursday!

Sorrow: The first day it has been downpouring and just utterly ugly out.

That does sound like fun. My son and youngest daughter will be coming in tomorrow. ("Youngest" is a kinda relative term - she's forty. ;) )

Mixed: We finally had the "Celebration of Life" for my brother, Richard. About forty people showed up and we told stories about his life. T`was kinda funny since I remembered a number of the guys there - except mostly as younger kids (Richard, after all, was eight years younger than me). They remembered our Dad and me from Boy Scouts and back when I was in the Army.

So,last night, we managed to get our son and his missus off to the airport. Delta had cancelled their flight two days earlier (US Airlines are still suffering from the impact of Covid, strikes, pilot retirements, deranged passengers, and generic incompetence - "Oh, you had luggage?"). ;)

... and life goes. On.

Sorrow: I needed them because I found out my grandmother who is my LAST living grandparent has dementia.

Joy: Last day I have to work for today before I am off for the next two days!

Sorrow: I woke up feeling really groggy and out of it for some reason and still am feeling it despite getting 8 hours of sleep last night.

Sadly, another classmate from High School days went her way yesterday. The darker side of geezerdom, I'm afraid. :(

Sorry for your loss Weston. It must really suck even if they lived a long and happy life to lose classmates.

Joy: Just managed to make it through my 3rd day of work! Two more to go!

Sorrow: It is really hot and humid and I try not to run my air conditioner as soon as I get home because the more I run it, the more the tank fills up and I have to drain it which is a PAIN.

Thanks, kind folks. We all go through these losses. When you get up in years, though, it becomes a kind of passage experience. Such is life, eh?

Joy: I have a day off tomorrow!

Yes I know I probably replied with the same thing several times now but I honestly enjoy them and feel like all I do is work.

I’m really sorry to hear about that Weston. I can’t imagine what you are going through, it doesn’t sound easy at all.

On a happier note, days off are a special treat, Dayzee. I have one as well tomorrow :).

Sorrow: My paycheck bounced, my boss blamed me because I “put it in too early “. Now, did he tell us not to deposit our paychecks right away? No, he didn’t, and he said he was too busy getting things for his daughter’s birthday party to deposit money into the payroll account. Oh, and he also took food from the store for his daughter’s party, thus leaving us with less food for customers. God, I am so glad I am leaving this job soon.

I'm not a lawyer, trek, but passing a "bad check" as a wage payment is legally questionable. Best wishes on your departure!

Everlasting sorrow: Been going through a very long bankruptcy with my family and it's still going on to this day. Can't even afford gifts for said family as we're constantly on a knife's edge of being bled dry.

On the plus side, I'm enjoying a microcomputer known as the "Raspberry Pi 400" and it will be what I'll use for everything I can.

The Pi can even run Doom, and a lot of other games too!

Sorry for yuour difficulties, Hiro ... I've had friends who went through bankruptcy procedures and they are interminable ordeals.
But ... they eventually do END!! Persevere.

Joy: today is September 13th, National Roald Dahl Day. I've seen "TheCatattheCandyFactory" trending and it sparked a writing idea where it's more than a Imaginate of "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory." I'll have to figure it out as I go but it will spawn a Fan Character.
