I can't say I completely agree with the album, but this song in particular is pretty awesome.

I think it might have been even more epic if it ended a minute and a half before it actually did. That would have been a pretty epic ending right there.

I love you.

I've mentioned Sheseveral times in this thread. How about some Machinae Supremacy?

Ave Maria

I love how the Classic and Techno mixes to make a great song <3

The non-classical vocals ruined that for me. It really could have done without.

I promise it's nothing like you expect.

That's well-made, but the song just doesn't have enough substance without the guitar solos to keep it from being a bit boring. :P

P.S. Weird music I like! Them drums. ^.^

is my favorite. I plan on making a stepchart with this for StepMania and Dance With Intensity sometime soon.

I hate that it has to be less than 2:30 to be considered short enough. ffff

I love how the line "I fear the monkey in your soul" actually sounds menacing at the same time that it perfectly describes somebody's warped personality. Hang in till the 55 second mark for an awesome chorus.

I really like Steely Dan. I love artists that use more than the traditional few rock instruments. I guess it's easy when you're just like two people and everyone else is a session musician.

The techno misnomer is a horrible pet peeve of mine so I'm so happy with you right now for not necessarily using it wrong, but it was funny: it's like banya decided to try out some symphonic trance and failed miserably so he just made a techno beat instead, and mashed it all together with annoying opera vocals

Sunburst: Aw shoot, how on earth could I have forgotten about She! Okay, well, definitely on my list. I would be enjoying that Machinae Supremacy but it could honestly do without the metal. It could work, but it doesn't to me. Yuck. Still, thank you for the She reminder, I am totally disappointed in myself for forgetting.

I have a mini-rant on techno, so this isn't directed at you in the least – this is a general rant because it annoys me to no freaking end when people say that these monstrosities are techno (yes I did nothing but a search for techno on youtube to find that link), and by asking me that it pretty much gives me an excuse to rant.

House is funky and disco (note: yes, daft punk is house music) and has that lovely four on the floor beat full of claps and hats (note the beat is the big part that makes this house, not trance). Electro house and hard electro house is generally the staple food of Ministry of Sound annuals nowadays.
Trance is synthey and emotional (mind, there's a massive range of emotion: compare EBM to symphonic trance) and uses the beat more as a part of the mood than a driving force. See, in that last link, it might be confusing considering how pervasive the beat is, but it is used as a part of the mood of the track rather than being an important aspect on its own – the main attraction is the keyboards and the vocals.
Techno is cold, impersonal, mechanical and all about that tinny 808 beat. Or at least all the old stuff was about it, I doubt they really use it anymore at all ever. Anyway ultimately, the more I think about it, it's basically the opposite of trance. This is techno, and this is exactly why I hate it whenever someone says they like it when they don't know what the word means. Which is basically the exact same reason that I love it whenever someone uses it right, even if I don't like techno myself. Mostly. Okay, I admit it, techno can be completely bangin if done right, like my last link there. A DJ would have to mix it so that it didn't get boring, but that's what a DJ's for dangit and the acid on that track is screaming.

I can't believe how many DJs forget they're not meant to just play other people's tracks and only mix when changing songs on their pre-programmed list, and I can't believe how many people are willing to say they like techno. If you think popular electronic tracks are techno, the truth is, you don't like techno.

Anyway following that, I hope you can see how part of that BanYa song was actually kiiinda techno, cause I would hope I'm not the only one who's seeing it cause then I would just feel stupid.

Senator_Sunburst wrote:Lies lies lies! The metal is awesome!
It would be a lie to say metal can't be awesome, but it would be the truth to say that on the whole it's not a genre I enjoy. I have my picks and I could never have the conscience to brush off the entire genre, but the overarching sound is not one I get into. It just doesn't work for me. *giggles*

I never say I like techno, because like I said, I didn't know what it was. :P

I am well enough versed in electronic music to know what House and Trance are though, and their subgenres.

As I said, it wasn't directed at you so much as it was "Yay ranting opportunity! . . . oh wait he'll think i think he doesn't know this stuff already *adds disclaimer*"

I use shuffle all the time. Right now I'm in the process of shuffling through my entire library by albums. I've only managed to go through once before because I keep accidentally hitting "stop" on my remote instead of "play/pause," because it's right next to it.

I've been giving a good listen to Little Richard recently. And holy...well. This guy is great. I mean, I knew he was good, but after listening to him for a much longer time than I ever did before, with a larger group of his songs, he's like, incredible. How did I miss this!? Now I understand why my uncle is named after him.

Psykeout - Alexisonfire is a post-hardcore band. They're okay. Not terrible I don't think. Not anything special either, I think.
