Interesting, i did the same question to a friend and he said Avenged Sevenfold too, but he said "Afterlife"

Avenged Sevenfold are an amazing band that have some really awesome music. Something about a lot of their songs make them really memorable as well. Gotta love them.

The first exposure I had to them was from a Machinima video for Black Ops. It was Welcome
to the Family, and I liked it, so I got the whole album. I don't regret that.

The closest thing I had to that was probably These Walls.

I agree with this. Avenged Sevenfold are really amazing. Especially their first albums!

I've had the entire soundtrack to The Book of Mormon on repeat for practically the last week and a half straight. It's just so good. o__O

I haven't heard it, but I'm sure Avenue Q is just as good if not better.

That's actually really funny because the guy who created Avenue Q teamed up with Trey Parker and Matt Stone (South Park creators) to make The Book of Mormon. XD I'm not entirely sure what part he played in it, because it was Trey and Matt who wrote it in their spare time between South Park episodes for the last seven years or so, but he's got rights in their somewhere.

I've heard a few of the numbers from Avenue Q, though I only semi-recently found out that they came from a Broadway musical. I'd just heard them from various videos around Youtube.

I will say that if you like Avenue Q, you'd probably enjoy this as well. :]

I knew that the Avenue Q guy was involved. which is why I brought it up.

I just shared a few links to songs by They Might Be Giants on Facebook and felt like posting a few here.

I must be some form of loser because i can repeat "still alive" and "i want you gone" (from portal and portal 2) perfectly with no mistakes!

well still alive is easy to do.

No matter how I try, I keep finding myself coming back to this song.
Really, in my opinion one of the greatest songs ever written; it's a shame that people are so quick to dismiss ideas of peace as hippie ramblings.

It's not ideas of peace so much as the approach to peace being taken. The song is basically suggesting a worldwide Stalinist regime, and that fighting should be stopped by removing the things people care about enough to fight for. Have nothing to kill or die for... by having nothing to live for.

It's a good song, musically. But the lyrics make me not surprised he was shot.

It's a bit of an unrealistic dream, certainly, but that's due moreso to human nature than the actual deeds he describes.

And honestly, I will argue with every fiber of my being that having nothing to kill or die for does NOT in any way, shape, or form also eliminate what we have to live for. That kind of thinking is just horrifying to me. If you live purely for your religion, or the "pride" of living in a different country than someone else, or for the possessions that you think you can obtain in a lifetime, in my opinion, you really must be closing your eyes to the possibilities that this world has to offer.

Live life for life itself, not for the things you think you can make of yourself. The very fact I live and breathe is more than enough reason for me to go on living.

And some people believe that living in and of itself is something to kill or die for. they defend nature and the beauty of the world. so the only true way to take away everything to kill or die for is to kill everybody. but this whole discussion seems to be leading to religious discussion, so enjoy Nyan cat to change the topic back to just music.

I actually really enjoy the cover of this song by A Perfect Circle

I've listened to is many, many times. Phenomenal. (I love me some Tool and Maynard James Keenan)

Edited in side note: The music video is actually very odd. hah

Considering all those claiming to want to "defend" beauty and nature by killing people have shown no intention of killing themselves is proof enough that such a claim is ridiculous. But I digress...

Have some Dr. Horrible.

I would go into all of the reasons I enjoy the song I posted previously, and the implications it raises, but I don't want to end up with a big debate. In the end, it is just a song I happen to enjoy. :)

But, on another note...
VIOLIN ROCK!!!! :D

Violins are probably my favorite instrument of all time. Just saying.

They're just so versatile! You can put them to great use pretty much no matter what genre of music you decide to toss them into. :D

Oh man, Vanessa Mae. I loved listening to her mad skills on the violin when I was little. Almost forgot about her, though.

She's just awesome!

Sure.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjAZyqn1uQQ - This is some heavy metal
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZhdkcuTTFQ - And here's a nice rock ballad
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTRn7MxNiQY - And another ballad

Well... there's much more, but I'm not a big fan of my country's music, and I don't know what to link anymore. If you're still interested though, you can search for "Ex-Yu rock" or you can contact me via IRC or MSN.
