In case anybody didn't see it in the main OOC, I'm going away for two weeks starting this coming Sunday. So I had Aldryd get lost so as not to have to pull him out of any main action

We've started the new day. Everyone is sitting around, eating breakfast and chatting. That's it, so far.

I just noticed that I made an error and meant to talk to Peter and respond to him saying
"Peter told Charles as they headed into the hall again. "Some work in the kitchen, some in cloisters and the gardens. Others - good morning, Sister Oakbrush - have other jobs." He gave Brum a small bow before noting Calder with the Mouse and colossal Stoat from last night. "Calder there is a smith in training - which makes him possibly one of the most dangerous people in the abbey." He grinned to Calder."
My mistake on that part.

That's okay. Things happen. Looks like you worked it in anyway and I'm sure Welshie can work with what you've given him. :)

Well it did sound like Peter knows Calder since he talked about him being a black smith. And since I thought he was at the table...

anyway if its alright then good.

Its understandable. And Peter has been at the Abbey all his life.

Yeah. You do pick up things when you've been living there all your life.

Especially other people's names...

As for why he's calling his slingshot a 'Katti', blame me. I've recently found a comic strip called 'Madam and Eve' from South Africa. The Mother of the lady of the house (not that sort of Madam, you dirty minded people(!)) Hates the Meille Ladies (Corn sellers) and fires on them with her Catapult. She calls it a Katti.

Charles' group came from Salamandastron and explored some of the towns. They were coming from a road that branched off into a little town, but were attacked. You'll see signs of struggle there and probably more feathers. But, Charles' grandfather was left off of the main road. Currently, to get to Noonvale from redwall, you'd have to travel through the woods, a watery terrain, a lot of sand, (unknown terrain), through marsh, and finally to Noonvale.

In Luke the Warrior, Martin and Gonff, as well as a lot of other beasts, had to carry the boat across land (creating the first amphibious wagon) to the ocean and then sail to the coast of where he used to live (a little over a mile away from Marshank), then sail off to a giant boat lodged in between the pillars.

But, without help, Martin and Gonff would've had to walk the entire way.

This is all from memory, but my point is that there is no trail to Noonvale. Noonvaler's don't travel south very often.

All we'd really need is a map from Luke the warrior to see how far away it is.

I've just been looking at those maps and they actually don't help because they're so far distant that the coastline and inland geographical features don't match up. We know Luke and Martin were both from up North and so was Marshank though so it's safe to assume that Noonvale is too. Actually, further research shows that Noonvale is in the Northeastern Forest, so there you go. The other thing is that in those days Redwall didn't exist so it's not going to be on those early maps anyway.
But yes, Noonvale is going to be quite a long march away, probably a month at the very least. For reference, it generally takes creatures a week to march from Redwall to Salamandastron, I believe.

So, could you edit that post please, Hotep? Cheers.

Thanks. Now I get it.

Like we said though, they came from Noonvale VIA Salamandastron so they should head that way, not straight towards Noonvale. Salamandastron is West-South-West of the abbey.

Can you edit that please, Hotep, so I can have Brock respond?
Cheers.

Essentially the design is mostly like this - Image but, whereas this has narrower sections at the end of the handles, the narrower sections on Owains are about half way along, then it returns to normal height.

Hlaoroo wrote:"I might." agrees Brum, having guessed the meaning of "ysgol". "Would you like me to teach you as I teach Owain, Sara?"
Brum finds an area of dust that's been disturbed recently. Running her paw across the few titles there she soon finds the book she's looking for.
"Aha! Found it! I knew it was here somewhere!" She carries the hefty tome over to where the others can see. Bound in green cloth, the book has strange characters on the cover. Ornate, yet deceptively simple, this is Loamscript and rare is the creature who can read it these days. Brum happens to be one of those lucky few.

==========
"So it was just birds? No land-dwelling creatures at all? That'll make tracking difficult... I wonder if the hares have found anything..."

==========
"Who goes there? Friend or foebeast?" calls Wayland from the walls.
There is one.

They're designing new carts for the cellars. Owain knows people have their idea in most cases and is wondering if Sara has any ideas. He's also, perhaps, wondering if Sara will remember any cart rides...

The cart is to help carry the heavy barrels of drink and cheeses up to the abbey where they can be served at feasts or used in the kitchen.

And that is the story of Saint Brymbo and Owain's attempt to deflect attention from hurty footpaws.

Brymbo is real and from North Wales in the 8th Century. The story, of course, is only alleged these days.
