There's a pretty white UFO floating around here. It's been here a while- I heard it used to be orange at least 50 years ago, then it changed color. I like looking at it.
Nah, that looks pretty typical for running Skype, Steam, Firefox and Photoshop at the same time. Especially Photoshop, that's easily the most demanding of all of those.dtlux1 wrote:Yeah, I need a better computer...

That may not be the reason I need a better computer, but I do need one. Right now I have a laptop with 4GB of RAM as my main computer, and it isn't even portable. I have to have it hooked up to an external monitor and hard drive, as it has around 300GB of space on it. If nothing else, I need more RAM.Mickey the Luxray wrote:Nah, that looks pretty typical for running Skype, Steam, Firefox and Photoshop at the same time. Re: Chat Thread 42: The Answer To Life, The Universe and Eve
RAM is expensive and tricky. If you can't find the EXACT chip you currently have, you can't just buy a different brand or something and expect it to work. If you have more than one chip, they must be the same. If you want 8GB, you may end up spending $70 or $80.dtlux1 wrote:That may not be the reason I need a better computer, but I do need one. You also need to make sure your computer can support more RAM to begin with. I upgraded my laptop to 8GB because I was able to find a matching chip for $30 (used of course) at a local computer repair shop, but that's all mine can support. I have a decent (if somewhat old) laptop, but if I was to try adding more RAM, it just wouldn't use it and it'd be a big waste of money.

My computer is complete carp. Having only about 150 GB of memory, and only having less than 10 GB of free space. It's already more or less 7 years old, and not once have we upgraded or did anything to make it better. Hopefully I can somehow talk my dad to either buying a new one or something.
I live in the Philippines. Can't really say there's anything unique around my area/city, but I do recall a senator approving of an "Anti-Selfie" law or bill kinda thing.JeffCvt wrote:So here's a question I've been wondering about:

The German for Kinder Surprise sounds a surprise by itself. On the box it's well visible the 0-3 age prohibition, it isn't enough to sell it in the US?

What country do yall's live in and what's unique about your particular area/city? As most of you probably know, I live in the United States. What you all may not know is that I live right where the Union/Confederacy (North/South) split was during our civil war on the eastern coast. I technically live in the south, and if you go to the right parts of the county, it shows. But if you go North for 20 or 30 minutes, you pretty much lose a lot of the back roads and small(er) towns and all of the rednecks disappear. Now that I'm older and I notice it, it's really quite interesting to see the transition.

Reading this thread I'm reminded of a youtuber I used to follow who reviewed food. Apparently kinder eggs were the most popular on this channel.
Funnily enough, since I had forgot the username I had to google around for him, I finally found him with 'food reviewing german youtuber'.

Well, considering that in 2011, when the U.S. Customs and Border Protection threatened a Manitoba resident with a $300 (Canadian dollars) fine for carrying one egg across the U.S. border into Minnesota and in June 2012, they held two Seattle men for two and a half hours after discovering six Kinder Surprise eggs in their car upon returning to the U.S. from a trip to Vancouver with the potential fine being US$2,500 per egg, I'd say that they are illegal to send over here.
There was a petition 2 years ago to end the ban on them, but it was declined for not having enough signatures.

Man, I haven't had a Kinder Surprise in forever, I need to go get myself one of those sometime soon~
and neither does every other tiny toy in the nation of America ;P *shot*
I'm sorry to kid, but I still find it so ridiculous how the US would ban Kinder Surprises because the toy is a chocking hazard or something (or at least that's what I've always heard was the reason) cause there are SOOOO many other chocking hazards that are far worse that are allowed. So I can't imagine why they would ban it at all unless it was some single incident that the media lashed out about enough to scare the health board into banning them. o3o
Last I checked, we still have these on our tables at Christmas:
So I dunno, maybe the states just favor one chocking hazard over another. =P

those other choking hazards aren't hidden inside of food marketed to young children.FritzyBeat wrote:I'm sorry to kid, but I still find it so ridiculous how the US would ban Kinder Surprises because the toy is a chocking hazard or something (or at least that's what I've always heard was the reason) cause there are SOOOO many other chocking hazards that are far worse that are allowed. and I think the logic behind banning them despite the marked age range is that parents see chocolate in brightly colored packaging and assume "good for all ages" even if the packaging clearly states otherwise.

That's the parents' fault - they're probably the same people who leave their children in the car in the summertime; should we ban cars too?

My school cancelled all classes after four. that means I got out of class 15 minutes early, hooray useless (to me) closing. hopefully it'll cancel class tomorrow too so I actually get something out of it.

We're supposed to get up to a foot of snow here tonight.
I hope whatever we get isn't too bad because I have someplace to go tomorrow to finish up a little bit of work and if I can't make it there, I don't know when I'll be able to go back.
