I wonder how much time Max has spent at the pound and whether the use of that term as opposed to "animal shelter" indicates that it is a sort of detention center for law-breaking pets.

Last panel! So awesome! This arc is fantastic!

Also... really now, why does Max has a bell?

the mice gave max the bell. Then they discovered it was somehow defective...
Ooo, Max is SO fantastic in the last panel.

Here is a little present for those, who don't know how to use photoshop, or too lazy to make an avatar by themselves...
I'm really interested, which of you - Alex or FerretWithASpork - set Maxwell as your avatar first? I mean, it's not good to use the same avi. (And either of you have almost similar avatar)

and now everyone wants his avatar! <3

I remember blanket blob games when i was young too (Devouring whole rooms with the power of hunger!), but i also remember alot of Booby Trap games. some of my favourite ones were making make-believe guilotines out of a halloween toy axe, wall darts with Ninja Turtle weapons and falling rocks out of rolled up blankets.

mind you, i didn't even watch Indy at the time XD

Funny how most child-hood games are based off of Indiana Jones though =3

this comic brought out some good old memories!

Or is it the other way around? Could Indiana Jones be based entirely off of children's games and imagination!?

This is the best arc yet! Bravo Rick bravo!

Anyway, this arc really shows how awesome Max is! Facial expression for the win!

You know how grimlens turn from cute furballs to slimy little psychotic demons? Max kind of looks like he got stuck somewhere inbetween in the last panel. But it kind of suits him in a way, and he does indeed look awsome.

As has already been said, but deserves repeating...best facial expression, ever!
Jack wrote:i never heard of the game "the floor is lava" when i was a kid. what is it?
Ya know, it's the game, that you play when your a kid, where the floor is lava. Seems pretty self explanatory to me :P
Just kidding, I've never heard of it either. Sound kinda fun though.

EVERYone's played the lava floor game. You just might not have been aware of it at the time. :P
There must have been some point in your life when you weren't allowed to touch certain parts of the floor for whatever reason. It's what makes childhood, childhood!

when i played these type of games when i was young, there never was a name, it was just a simple game of "Monster" as we call it, where one person plays the monster.

I'm guessing this arc will most likely go through something like that, but just incase, i'll give the details in Spoilers:

The goal of the game usually is for the monster to, in a pretend fashion of course, kill all the other players or stop them from grabbing something and escaping. How it works though is that the monster usually has a rule that limits him/her. some common examples include:

- Can't be seen when killed
- Is limited to a certain space, like floors (Lava), rooms (Lairs), or items (Trap!)
- cannot run/can only attack from a Blanket (Classic horror movie fashion as we call it)

creative limiting is the fun idea of being a monster since usually the monster is based off of a famous TV monster, and that's usually where most of the rules come from. =P

I just find it funny back in my childhood days noone wanted to be the monster as much as i did T_T

Yep, we all used to play this game. Children are the same everywhere...
The only thing is that everybody calls this game however they like...

I have to say, this is the first time I've heard the idea of incorporating RPG stats into a child's pretend game. Obviously, Peanut and Grape are smarter than we take them. It might be safe to assume that they're.......evil geniuses.

well we played something similar. we would all go outside to the playground with all those slides and other constructions and the ground around us was sand (like most playgrounds) so we made it so that we can't touch the sand and only the catchers could walk there. it was called "playground catch". if you were cought by one of the catchers while walking on the sand you would go to jail and your team-mates would have to save you. but now that i think about it you can't really win. only the catchers win if they catch us all. also, the catchers could climb the structures too. it was fun as hell, heck, its still fun as hell!

Oh yes, they are very smart. Grape: HP-10, Defense-3. Peanut: Attack-4. Once he attacks her, she has 9 HP left. Very very smart.

But still, they are smarter than children. They just play like children. But the pets can be serious, too.

two things occurred to me:

A) Maxwell - Panel 3. Totally needs Jaws music.

B) Peanut and Maxwell - Friends to the End?

There was an older (than 2000) tom and jerry movie?
Any way, the newer space one and the race one both SUCKED. A mockery of cartoons in general.

Actually, I believe that in the end...Max and Peanut will be more like Rivals, or more like Peanut will think that Max is a rival and Max will not have a clue.

Jeez I loved this. me and my bro have an inside thing where we go 'nomnomnom' and i laughed soooo flippin hard. Then the last panel, Grape's like 'why do you have a bell if it doesn't ring!?!?' and Peanut's like 'twitch' and I nearly wet myself XD
...
reminds me of a time I almost got a bell...
