I've now heard about eight or more people talking about this series. o.O
Yeah, there's a few.

Symphonia was released for the PS2 only in Japan. :(

According to Wikipedia, Tales of Destiny 2, Tales of Rebirth, Tales of Legendia and Tales of the Abyss were all on the PS2. I haven't heard anything about them, however.

You should just buy a cheap used Gamecube. :3

This might come as a surprise, but I really enjoy Tales of Symphonia.

I need to look at a summary of the gameplay and plot and all that before I would make the choice of renting/borrowing it from a friend though.... I'm very picky about video games.

Don't worry about looking up something for me, guys. I'll get to it eventually.

@Sleet- Hehe, while buying a GameCube sounds nice, I don't have a job, and my parents have a rule of: "You have an allowance to buy your own stuff for school and pay for your certain bills and buy whatever else you may need. Be independent with your money."

And plus I'm not a hardcore gamer. It wouldn't be worth the money to me.

Gamecubes are cheap if you get a used one. If you don't trust eBay and stuff like that, even the stores sometimes sell them for like 30 bucks. And Tales of Symphonia is also a pretty old game that's sold over a million so it has a decreased price. You can probably get a copy and a used Gamecube for less than the 50-60 dollars it takes to buy a new game. Of course, an old PS2 Tales game would be even cheaper. But Symphonia is really good. :P

If you happen to have a Wii, they can play Gamecube games too.

ONLY 30 dollars? Hmm, maybe if I saved up for four-six+ months or so. XD

Like my parents would ever let me order off eBay. They barely trust Amazon.

I'd just want to get a Wii. Two system in one. It' logical, although more expensive. Although it'll never happen. Unles I found one that was totally busted. I could fix it if I had enough willpower to try. ;)

Why not? You kill a bunch of stuff, you level up, you angst, then you save the world. And also there are crystals and chocobos.

How is that not Final Fantasy?

Just the gameplay, and honestly, the BGM was not FF caliber.

The gameplay changes like every game.

And I really liked the background music. Nobuo Uematsu could have done better, but that doesn't mean anything. For almost every game ever, Nobuo Uematsu could have done better.

Still, it doesn't feel like a Final Fantasy game, also, I felt there was an extreme lack of strategy.

There's a lot more strategy later on when things get harder.

At least the battles don't fight themselves like in XII.

When the game gets harder, manipulating paradigms is the challenging part, and that involves all three party members. Just stringing together "attack" is not the involved part.

Which saddens me, I ESPECIALLY liked how FFX changed the battle system, I thought it was amazing.

Then you'd hate FFXII's battle system. The boring characters would just make it worse.

Despite its neat story, gorgeous graphics, wonderful music and open-ended world. *sigh*

I never played VIII, and for some reason I stopped playing X after a while. I don't know why, because it was good.

VI is my favorite. Tactics Advance too, if you count spinoffs. Crystal Chronicles was also a lot of fun in multiplayer, but it was a pain to get all the required stuff together.

I would recommend Tales of the Abyss. The fighting system, plot, characters, and music are all extremely awesome.

You see, if I told you that you'd be expecting it and it wouldn't be scary.

Besides, if you bought the game you might as well finish it.
