but there are no open slots for those who want to play.
And you know how boss Hlaoroo is as a roleplayer.
Besides, Haven seems to have crashed, unless someone is going to pick it up.

Geist) Neophyte is just a term for someone who is new at something

Hlaoroo) Well, RA used to be the place for newbies, but we're a little bit full... Maybe a training thread or something?????

Neon) If Haven has crashed, I'd look into whether or not the current GM is still actually around, and if he is, does he still want to be the GM.

Also: Night all~

Perhaps it would be better to let some of the old ones that aren't working anymore go to make room for new ones with people who actually want to play rather than just taking up slots. Radiant Gardens is another one which seems to have ground to a halt - they're only doing one or two posts per month.
Apparently Richmond Acres now has a bit of a waiting list. So I think it would be a good idea to create another one. I'll put it to the mods as soon as I come up with a scenario and once Diss has finished his stocktake of the current RPs.
What would we do in a training thread? We'd have to have ways for people to get in and out and there are those IC chat threads somewhere whihc could be used like that too...
Also, thanks for the compliment and vote of confidence about my RP-ing, Neon. ;)

The heater that the Porters are offering Sixtoes is an older style version of this type of thing.

^A training thread doesn't necessarily be used for roleplaying in its self per say, but could be more like a guide for newbie RP-ers with some of the basic terms like IC and OOC, etc and a general of idea of setting posts out and other stuff.

Also sorry I haven't gotten back onto anything yet. Being overloaded with school work is rather frustrating, and I haven't had much time to get around to getting a post up. I have been keeping up though!

Maybe giving a template of how to type IC; perhaps explaining whether or not to use quotation marks when speaking, the use of italics, or do you use colors when thinking? What to write in a backstory? A forum kinda like the "Ask a Mod" thread? The possibilities are endless!

I was debating whether or not to have Joan or John ask why Hutch doesn't just get a collar but I decided they'd have more tact than that. ;)

But I don't, however. Why doesn't Hutch get/wear a collar?

He left his collar with his dad, and there it remains.

Is his dad or his mum coming?
But why not buy a new collar from the pet store in RA?

Its sort of a symbol. Most dogs where they're collars as a badge of honor, to show how loyal they are to their owner. Hutch failed to protect his owner, so he doesn't wear a collar as a sign of failure or regret.

So, the reason Hutch doesn't like being with his owner is because she is a very old lady.
Death is soon to come to her, and he can't handle another death. :'(
You put your characters through heck, you know that?
I learned from Steven Moffat.

As author , it is our responsibility , to create the best characters , and do the most horrible things to them
so yeah , you can't really blame him Hutch

speaking of which as I would really appreciate if anyone know what the original of that phrase came from

Colors are used anytime the character says or whispers out loud.

The point is, Keeshah, that the neophytes don't know that. ;)

At long last, here's the plan of the Porter's house. I was thinking Koa might like one of the big rooms on the first floor on the right end with the 2 windows which overlook the forest behind the house.
I know some of the lines might not look quite right or might not be in quite the right place but I made this on Microsoft Publisher so bear with me, OK? ;)
And I just realised I forgot to label something in the key. The dotted line on the first floor is the railing on the side of the landing. As you climb the stairs to the first floor you start next to the kitchen door and head away from the road. From the railing to the window above the front door is empty space which forms a sort of grand-looking entryway.

I would have eliminated the hall between the kitchen and dining room, and made that all kitchen, with a serving entrance from the kitchen to the dining room. Also extend the dining room to include that small room next to it so there's an entrance to the dining room directly off the entranceway. Perhaps make that small room a storage/laundry/workroom next to the garage entered from the kitchen, swapping it with the dining room.

OK, thanks, those are good ideas, Argent.

What should I do with the other laundry if I turn that other room into a laundry when I move it?

Expand the bathroom, or make it a walk-in hall closet. You might also make the bathroom smaller, and put the main bathroom upstairs... which is more usual... and move the porch exit and make Flynn's room (original library, I guess) larger.

Re: PF:Richmond Acres OOC

by Hlaoroo
Flynn's room was a drawing room rather than a library. The library is upstairs. There is a cupboard under the stairs already and I'm expanding it to fill in that little gap left when I expanded the kitchen. I'll shrink one of the upstairs bedrooms and put a bathroom there instead so there'll be one less bedroom. I don't think I'll touch Flynn's room but I might expand that bathroom and get rid of the other little room and turn that section into a billiards room rather than a bathroom. I can put an entrance from there to the dining room too. I was going to have a pool table somewhere but I wasn't sure where. Now I know. ;)

OK, here's the new map. What do you think now?

Yes! RA has a little festival thing in the beginning of Autumn, sometimes people from out of town come for it
