If King Edward could get special wide ties made so he didn't have to tie a Windsor knot, then Jata can afford extra-long ones.

OK, I think he's now officially a jerk. Anyone agree?

This reminds me a little of that scene in Beauty and the Beat where Gaston snaps a belt from around his throat just by flexing his neck muscles.

I agree, but then I've been thinking he's a certain jerk that we all know all along. I think between Monday's and Wednesday's strips Fido told Sabrina that what the K-9s found out was that Jata is still in Africa.

No, he's just having fun and can't see no-one else is.

(Although Grape might be having some fun dreams right now...)

Brilliant comparison. I really, really, REALLY don't like Jata. he's being completely ignorant and inconsiderate of Sabrina's feelings. Isn't lobe about knowing when to let someone go so they can be happy? He obviously doesn't love her enough to spot that...I would have given him SOME credit and the possibility of not being (IMHO) sexist, but this strip just makes him ignorant of her feelings. She clearly doesn't want to go, and Concord(Grape) asks what if Sabrina herself just doesn't want to go, and he just ignores that possibility, or just doesn't care about her feelings. He also clearly thinks she's stupid because he's under the impression she wouldn't know she'd gain more respect in his home country.

Really though its a good thing that this comic isn't supposed to be taken too serious, or this would suggest Rick is racist and discriminates towards other cultures, because of the fact he's the prince of an African micro-nation, those those points only hold out if Jata at no point learns to respect Sabrina's choice. So I feel safe in the assumption of this having nothing to do with Pete, unless that turn around happens. Which Ricks done in the past...and now I'm panicking about what might happen. I mean the only way I can see him learning to respect her choice is if he learns that she's romantically involved with Fido, and respects the obvious affection the two have for one another even with the gap between their species, since in comparison any affection Sabrina would display would be fake...hence why there's no kissing scene between Sabrina and "Concord"...unless Ricks planning to do one...flower power, RICK! I thought putting all my thoughts down would calm me down, but it make things worse!!!! ARGHE!!!!

I feel as frustrated as Charlie Brown when he's trying to kick that "football", which I didn't think was possible.

There's very little that's intentionally 'racist' about laws. They're based on the cultures and histories of the countries they're established in and, although people may not like them, they're there for everyone. If the laws of his country state that such a 'contract' was lawful then Sabrina has, essentially, the same rights as I would if I holidayed in France. Break their laws whilst I'm there and they can pursue me back home and issue whatever warrants they like to get me back to France. I can't use "but I'm British!" as a defence as that doesn't wash. Here or there.

However, if I were to invoke international laws, things could be different. Especially if, as in the Sabrina/Jata case, there is no set precedent. An international body could over-rule any judgement.

I do believe, though, that Jata is still in love with Sabrina and it's partially because he feels bound by this contract and he can't see why it should be different for Sabrina as HE was brought up in the country with that law and HE was surrounded by it and HE sees it as right and just for the simple fact it still exists there. He wasn't brought up in a country where the understanding is that it's wrong.

You know, Spo would be a good attorney. I support Spo to be Sabrina's attorney!
Was wondering the exact thing what had to be going through Fido's mind at that moment, being torn between his love for Sabrina wanting to challenge Jata himself, to his pride in not wanting anyone to find out about his romance & love with Sabrina.

Or that Jata already has a fiancee or fiancees and that the only reason he wants to marry Sabrina is so he can get out of marring them because he'd rather be married to someone he loves.

I get the feeling that Fido will step up and fight him and probably get beaten, then Sabrina (or somone else) steps in and forces them to stop. Then again we still don't know what Fido was going to tell Sabrina.

Well I had more or less the same thought, but I think then somethings happens, we will see for the first time muscle-maxwell.
He stops Jata's punch, see Grape laying on the ground and assumes that Jata punched her and then....poor Jata :ugeek:

Ahah, Grape couldn't absolutely resist. Max would have reacted in the same way for sure, and so Jata's thoughts fitted. :P
What can his country have more than US? Political respect!? For Sabrina should also be hurting leave the place where she's living most of her life, her friends and Fido... also if is for love reasons, according to Jata.
I think that at the end, Jata won't have the victory in make his purposed.

I would not wonder if Jata knows that Concord isn't male since the beginning. And that he's just playing Sabrina's game to pull her leg.
He may be married already and is just here on a visit to meet his childhood love during his trip through the country.
