I don't get it. Pete endured several thousand years locked in the temple and now he can't stand more than five minutes without rage quitting? Seriously? What happened with the whole subjective time perception? :?
valerio wrote:I think they're feigning, so to induce their pawns to come out of their hiding.
I have a hunch that the Nerds are genuinely unaware of their presence, so they'll keep on babbling and bickering till reveal some info incriminating enough that may help the guys to stop the game but it'll be shocking for them at the same time. I'd say it's the whole "interfered with her own followers" thing. And Kingley may be another one of those arranged couples.
However it's just a hunch, and Rick has proved me to be wrong in every single time so I won't get my hopes up. No drama for me. :(

So much for my theory that they were smart enough to follow the blank spot in their perceptions. I guess they ended up here because this was probably the only restaurant within 500 leagues. Or whatever measurement they use in Heaven.

Or else the alt text isn't canon.

I think what Fox said is a joke on the forum discussions, on how we thought seeing Pete and Dragon again would mean big trouble but instead we just get bickering teens. XD

Also, Pete and Dragon need to hook up, they seriously argue like a couple anyways. I do like the theory that even though they are in the diner they still can't see King, Bailey, Tarot, Sabrina and the others because of the lantern, meaning we can see how Pete and Dragon talk when no one important is around.

Oh yeah, they certainly fight like a couple. Ever see the movie The Cutting Edge? It's their form of courtship. All they need is a common threat or challenge to make them realize it.

Find it odd that Pete would blurt out about the café being about the losers hangout when he can't see anyone. He must be extremely mad X3

Never occurred to me that the lantern is still in effect. I wonder if it affects the waiter, too?

Perhaps they HAVE tracked them there and Pete's shout on arrival was in the way of 'Olly olly oxen free?

Possibly. I just think he would look silly being a god and all, but as Fox says - not so imposing these days.

To be specific, it's old American Colloquial. While my grandparents would certainly remember the soda jerks, I'm not certain my parents would have ever referred to such a person by that name. I suppose it would vary from region to region, but yeah, it's definitely an older term. ;)

It's probably the fact that he was so close to victory, but then it suddenly stopped. Like when you get to the last bit of health on a final boss, only for the power to go out.

And now I want to see cat Pete!

I remember looking that up a while ago after seeing a joke about kids misinterpreting the term. Surprised how it was such a high position at one time, and rather sad that it pretty much died out. Seems like fun to watch them mix sodas like that.

They're showing to the world in an human-size anthro form, like showed here... That wouldn't be wise from you two, and you're also keeping clothes, you can't disguise yourself from other pets. The poor so to say waiter have to stand at the squabble of those two too grown up children, it's better sneak away. :P But, most important, Pete quit from playing the game? This can mean that the will of your avatar to end the battle won over you, and it happened all due to King. Yeah, explain that now. :P And you haven't seen nothing, Fox, they're indeed more imposing normally (only in physical size). ;) Continue to do that, Daryl, and least now you're doing something good (I'm not meaning to have stopped to eat, but yeah, it's also for that). :P
Now better stop, you two, and I would like to see an interlude of the interested avatars... Maybe Pete prefers to be called "nerd" over "geek", but anyway, he has always to be called "jerk" (and only he is the jerk, not also the soda servant guy).

Thanks for the elucidations concerning the soda jerk meaning. ;) Very funny vision of Pete as a cat, nice work. :D

I think Pete and Spira have forgotten that King is a legible third-party and that he is therefore able to interfere with their plans. As to them walking in without disguises, exactly how would you all explain this to the media and authorities? Spira looks amazing. :)

I knew you wouldn't be happy about this strip. I have to agree though.
valerio wrote:I think they're feigning, so to induce their pawns to come out of their hiding.
King is right: Pete's pride wouldn't allow him to quit.
I certainly hope so, I don't want this huge story, developed through years, to end with "And then Pete ragquitted. King and Bailey lived happily ever after, had a quatrillion puppies, and snuggled lots and lots.

Alright, I gave what you wanted, now leave alone."

There is a small restaurant near me that still has the soda goosenecks. Plus they still make milkshakes and malts with real milk and real ice cream.
