The grandson tells his grandfather (who is reading the story) that a certain character would never do what Grandpa was reading. And then when, later in the story, it turns out she wasn't he says "See? I told you!" And the grandfather says "Yes, you're very smart, now hush" :D

Yep. If I were infinitely powerful, I'd give my speeches explosive visuals too!

Love how Kitsune remains nonchalant in the face of an angry Pete.

Well...in hindssight that's not surprise, that Kitsune does that...I mean...
Look here:
https://www.housepetscomic.com/2010/07/ ... details-2/

He does state, that he doesn't want anyone to be hurt and since dragon and Pete let them fight to the end...well he had to do it.
Also it's good that he is the GM and not one of the players...how do you want to win against HIM?

The arc is getting better and better

Who's the devilishly handsome fox that completely owned Pete? Kitsune's the devlishly handsome fox that completely owned Pete. All hail the Great Kitsune! We are all but puppets dancing to his benevolent strings.

That's a life teaching you're doing, Great Kitsune, always in your awesome way. :D Totally deserved to those two. ;) Keep humiliating them, especially Pete, you can being the game master. Let's see what else has to say the book (and the fox, too). ;) The other Daryl is only caring to drink milkshakes, obviously, but looks like he's being pretty interested watching the scene. :P Cool expression in the third panel. :)

But if you enjoy watching other characters suffering doesn't that mean you are as jerk as Pete or worse? I guess you just overreacted. Otherwise, Kitsune's joke is on you.

Kit's torturing of Pete's probably going to be over in a short period of time. I think Pete's been trying to 'torture' Kitsune with his stubbornness and hot air for at least three thousand years...

You didn't get what I said it seems. It's not like I'm worried that he's being tortured but that doesn't mean I have to be happy for that.
Kitch wrote:If they can't lord over mortals whenever, then they're not truly infinitely powerful, are they?
Well, I guess that's why they're just "lesser" gods. Otherwise, they'd be called supreme/higher gods.
I'd like to know of those "higher" gods.

Sorry. The thing about using an internet cafe is you can get distracted from what you really mean/think. I knew your point. What I was trying to explain was WHY Kitsune was taking such a pleasure. No harm, Gren?

Nah, we are good. :P
But I don't think Pete was trying to "torture" kitsune, he merely wanted to put him out of the picture and then make his move because Kitsune always messes with players' tactics. That's why Pete stole the piece of soul from heaven so he couldn't use that book of fate but the plan backfired.

What's everyone's thoughts on this?

Kitsune starts to use the BOF and the lamp, but Pete questions who gave it to Tarot. Kitsune admits, "I did, so what?" Then Pete claims that Kitsune interfered in the game, saying something like, "it was supposed to be a duel between me and Dragon with no outside interventions." Kitsune objects, but Pete points out that neither avatar would have quit if King hadn't intervened, and King wouldn't've intervened (or been able to) if he hadn't had the lamp.
Pete then calls for Bahamut to decide what to do. (since he wouldn't recognize Cerb's authority, and since Pete is becoming really desperate at this point)

Bahamut shows up, and Pete makes his case. (Also pointing out that Kitsune's BOF isn't the standard-issue one shown in the trial in heaven arc) Upon seeing all this, Bahamut decides the best thing to do is change ALL the cosmic nerds into mortals for a full lifetime. He figures, "maybe somebody will learn a lesson from all of this."

So all the cosmic nerds get put back in time...

Kitsune becomes Karishad
Dragon becomes Tarot...so she can date Peanut
And Pete becomes Peanut...maybe. (just because Pete and Dragon "fight like a married couple"...it also would explain Peanut's explanation in the elevator. He wasn't phased because he already...partially... knew what was going on. And the trip to Gallifrax? Still genuine because Pete is a troll. :-p )

That does sound interesting (I totally see some elements of Karishad in Kitsune). My only problem is that I don't see Pete becoming Peanut. I don't know, maybe it cause of the attitude and how he behaves, but if the arc did end like that, I see Pete maybe becoming Bino.

Also liking how GK is handling this.

I kinda imagine the set up to the game being:
Pete: GK, Dragon is being a jerkface...
Dragon: You're the jerkface!
Pete: ... and we need to settle this.
GK: How about we play a game? You pick the universe, and general time, and I make sure you play fair and don't alter it. Should you overstep your bounds, I WILL call it off and you will BOTH be Jerkfaces.

So I see GK as realizing that on their own the mortals made their decision, the 'lamp' was to ensure they at least had a choice/voice in the game, and before more damage is done GK is calling a time-out to get it under control.

Neat stuff and totally looking forward to the rest of this arc. :)

Interesting....sounds like one of the things that used to give Janeway headaches on "Voyager".

Would King's final reward promised to him at the end of the game by GK be him being given the opportunity to become a Cosmic Nerd?
