Is it possible you forgot a few places? It seems like you were in a lot more places than those.

Well, I am still a local dog - I've been to dozens of places in mid-Michigan, dozens of times in some cases.Amazee Dayzee wrote:Is it possible you forgot a few places? It seems like you were in a lot more places than those.
However its the big trips people seem to remember, and around here, many times I don't even get photographs, especially when I'm lone fursuiting. My kids have all gotten bored with shooting photographs of Tycho Aussie hugging some child... so I don't get as many pictures as I used to
I'm thinking of visiting Australia in 2017 on vacation. I should have enough frequent flier miles to buy myself and my wife round-trip tickets. Then I'll pick up a motorcycle in Melbourne & go on tour.Hlaoroo wrote:You have travelled a bit. That's cool!

NASA asked JPL to think up some ways to make their Hyperboard exhibit more exciting, so they added a fursuiting scientist!

Wait, is she the one in the fursuit or the human in the second picture?
If the former, who's the human?

Considering that both of them seem to have her in it and there only one in both of them is the tiger, I would say she's the tiger and the human was someone who wanted a picture.

I can imagine that that would be normal. Fursuiting can be quite physically demanding.

Re: Fursuits: do you own one?
Not so much sleepy as in pain. My cooling vest weighs at least 10 lbs, but it can extend my suiting time to two hours - which of course causes more pain. Still, WORTH IT!
Also, if you plan on getting a cooling vest, make sure that your fursuit is a little big on you - I was fortunate that I accidentally made my suit's parts an extra half inch bigger on all sides; it fits pretty nicely.

I found this article, although it wasn't applied to fur-suits, I can only imagine that this could help to create better visibility with the eyes. http://www.405th.com/showthread.php?t=16910

Re: Fursuits: do you own one?
Well, most furries don't want metallic eyes, I don't think.
Other than that though, the difficulty with fursuit eyes is not so much caused by the eyes themselves but buy the shape of the head. Fursuit eyes are actually most commonly made from a material that's quite similar to fly-screen - basically a fine mesh that's painted and you can see the paint from a distance outside the head but from within the head because the mesh is close to your eyes you can see straight through it. It's the nose and the shape and position of the eye sockets that limit fursuit vision. For instance, some fursuit heads have the eyes positioned such that the wearer can only see through the tear ducts whereas others have the eyes pretty much right over the wearer's eyes so that the view from the suit is much like what you'd see if you cup your hands around your eyes.
It's an interesting article though! Thanks for the link!

Re: Fursuits: do you own one?
Yeah, but actually that character isn't mine anymore, it belongs to my youngest son. It's something I got in order to let other people who aren't part of the fandom a chance to experience wearing a fursuit partial. After a year, I gave it to my youngest son, since he was using it for things like fun & games, and trick-or-treating, and accompanying me to local events. It's name is Aeolus; A greek wind-spirit and also one of the steeds that pulled the sun chariot of the sun-god Helios.RandomGeekNamedBrent wrote:Tycho sure looks different while not on your head

I'm not exactly a fan of fursuits, but skiing in a fuzzy warm full body fur suit at night sounds like one heckuva plan!Douglas Collier wrote:I went belly sliding in my Douglas suit last night.

Re: Fursuits: do you own one?
Thanks! It isnt always the easiest thing, traveling overseas with a fursuit. You really have to learn how to pack it tight, and the weight restrictions willl get you in a lot of cases. I'm usually at the highest weight when I figure in my instrumentation and work equipment. Sometimes I end up paying overage fees as much as $50.NHWestoN wrote:Not me but, I gotta tell you, these adventures are fascinating as well as all the considerations and complications involved in fursuiting.

Cleaning is usually the biggest problem, because when I'm gone for four to seven weeks, it isn't a garment you want to trust to the cleaning lady. That, and all of our hotels are only equipped with a standup shower, and you can't let it drip-dry anywhere. So I usually resort to buying a liter of vodka and do lots of liberal scrubbing of the insides of the costume with that 40% alcohol solution. It keeps it looking good and smelling... pleasant.
