That's the idea. Do all the roles for an arc as they appear. Sorry it wasn't made clearer. And don't worry about being a little pushy. It's enthusiastic people like you that'll keep this project moving. ^^Retto-the-Otter wrote:I'm guessing that roles will be cast as needed, then (e.g. Bino will be cast before "A Mournful Situation").

I drew something!
Yes, it's relevant.

Out of curiosity, is there a theme song for the episodes?

Re: Housepets! Animated! Central Development Thread
A theme song has been considered, but nothing yet.
Got a question; I finally decided to get on to recording, so I'll get on that sometime in the coming week, and there's something I wanted to ask about one of Joey's lines. Specifically, his line in the third panel here used as an example on the Casting Call page.
The casting page says that this should be said in a "seductive" manner, but Joey looks more confused about what he's reading.

Two more questions:
Are all of the lines lifted directly from the comic?
What are the deadlines?

Re: Housepets! Animated! Central Development Thread
The first I can answer; yes, they're all lifted from the strips. From what I've seen of the script to the first arc, the final animation will have some new dialogue to help it flow better.
For the second, no clue. Usually a poll being put up is a sign of the deadline.

Re: Housepets! Animated! Central Development Thread
So I should record my lines as soon as I have time, then? I don't want to be that guy that slows everything down because I don't have my stuff when it's needed. Also—and I probably should have asked this first—are we recording on our own time or will we have live recording sessions with a director? The other project with which I'm involved is using the latter strategy and I just want to make sure I understand everything.
On a semi-related note, I've been reading through the "Tails of Babylon" thread (I'm still on page twenty-three of one hundred three, so I still have a lot to read). Is the idea of voice-acting the game still on the table?

Re: Housepets! Animated! Central Development Thread
Oh, carp, I hadn't considered that! If it's the latter, it may be an issue for me, especially since my internet connection can barely handle livestreams, and it's not unlimited.Retto-the-Otter wrote:So I should record my lines as soon as I have time, then? Well, the possibility of voice acting has not been outright rejected yet. However, it will probably be the last thing we work on. We'll get the game out, polish it up, make sure we're happy with the product, and then a decision will be made for voice acting, if it wasn't rejected at an earlier point in time. We got tips on shrinking down file sizes for the music, that might make it feasible, as I once played a one hour demo, almost two gigs, because all of the voice acting was in uncompressed WAV files. Also, wow, reading up on the thread is quite the endeavor now. Kudos, man.Retto-the-Otter wrote:On a semi-related note, I've been reading through the "Tails of Babylon" thread (I'm still on page twenty-three of one hundred three, so I still have a lot to read). Re: Housepets! Animated! Central Development Thread
The fact it's still on the back burner is understandable; it's not necessary in the least but would make the game that much better.
I just saw Chaoko's bear (from back in June). It looks awesome, though I'm not sure about the closed fists. Punching something would drive its claws into its paw. I didn't want to say anything until I had read everything and it's really just a small nitpick, but I thought it was worth noting.

Re: Housepets! Animated! Central Development Thread
Claws seen on Bruno seems small enough to get away with it. Also, it'd be best to bring up further talk on Tails of Babylon on the thread itself, so as to not derail this one.
...though reading through the rest of the thread is almost a requirement so as to not get lost in bringing up details that might have already changed.

Sorry about the rapid-fire questions, but will we include "All the King's Men"?

Re: Housepets! Animated! Central Development Thread
I actually had an idea to include All The Kings Men as a full episode when I was making a list of them. I'd have to actually draw a storyboard for it though since there's no visuals, so it'd take a bit more time. But yeah, considering that there was no visuals for it I'd be more than happy to make that episode
Also on the whole recording sessions thing, I suggested to Kitsune to have the voice actors record with either him or me so we could make sure everyone was doing the voices in the right way for the right situations. However, I can see that being a problem considering we're all on different time zones and such. One thing I will suggest though: if you're going to do the lines, look at the comic as you are doing them. It's pretty much the storyboard so the expressions and gestures will be very similar to how I draw them. I can always alter how a scene goes depending on how the voice actor chooses to pull off the line (what I'll be doing for Peanut in the first episode), but it makes it easier if you attempt to do it as the characters appear to be speaking in the comic.

I work most of the week, day shifts.
Anyway, really jumping the gun here, but how will "The Arc Specifically About Being Naked" be done in this format? It's a pretty meta one.
Maybe an error screen or something where the arc died, then back to normal, sort of like how Team Four Star did things? The ending credits segment could also include the voice actors.

Not rude at all, I really should be finishing it. It's like, a few hundred frames from being done so I just need to focus on it. Though you know why I've been pre-ocupied art wiseSuperStar wrote:Well, seems things are going nicely. Hey Chaoko, I hate to sound rude, but how's the teaser animation?

Re: Housepets! Animated! Central Development Thread
We were considering a Hyperdimensional Neptunia- style voicing, but that matter has been tabled as the game is nowhere near ready, nor have most of the voices for the webshow have been cast.Retto-the-Otter wrote:So I should record my lines as soon as I have time, then? The other project with which I'm involved is using the latter strategy and I just want to make sure I understand everything. Own time for now, at least until we can establish a better system. I'm considering developing a small workshare domain to accomplish this, but I have very little free time these days between this project, the game, my music remix contests, my YouTube channel, my job, and a host of other projects and prior responsibilities.

You can ask any other questions about the game to the game's thread or PM them to me as I am leading the sound development team.

It's been a while since I've checked out this thread. But from the looks of it, a Bino has been cast, which is great!
Is there anything new that I should be aware about in terms of the Voicing and whatnot, because from the looks of it there are still a ton of parts open.

Nope. Everything that's open on CastingCall has yet to be cast or vote upon, so new auditions will still be accepted for the time being.

It may be a bit early to wonder this, but has anyone actually identified the song stuck in Grape's head in "Ba Da Da Daaaaah!"? It just seems a kind of important thing to know if that scene is going to be voiced.

Re: Housepets! Animated! Central Development Thread
I've listened to a few different songs, but none of them quite matched up.
Also, are we doing any of the guest strips?
Also-also, would it help anything if there were a list of the characters in order of appearance?
Also-also-also, I seem to like using the word "also".
Edit: Oh! Please tell me someone's going to ask Karishad to voice himself. It would be fitting, since he's the only character who actually exists, and it would be oh-so meta.

Re: Housepets! Animated! Central Development Thread
Pretty sure that was about the song.
On the note of guest strips, I personally don't think we should.
It might help if there where a list of characters, but then again we're going to have to read through the entire arc anyway each time we get to a new one so really we'd know who we need to cast.
As stated before, Karishad's voice is up to Karishad. We're of course gonna ask if he wants to voice himself, but if he doesn't he'll be the one to choose who voices him.

Re: Housepets! Animated! Central Development Thread
Forgive me for putting it so bluntly, but I don't see a reason for doing guest strips. They were always a sort of "filler" whenever Rick didn't make a comic, right?

To confirm, we will not be doing guest strips for multiple reasons, the main being some strips would require an additional cast part for a single panel.
