Most important thing I've learned from D&D?
No matter how tempting it may be, as a DM I can't both present a problem and solve it.
Every time a DMPC or NPC fixes something a payer couldn't i'm diminishing and undermining that player's contribution.

Upon arriving at the courthouse, you will find that i am the judge and all other officials present are kangaroos! Yes it's that kind of court.

I declare the prosecution (ie: you) guilty of all charges, plus a few i just made up for the fun of it, and sentenced to run 50 laps around the sun in a tutu.
