Because death is a fact of life. However unfortunate it may be. It is the only unerring fact.

I don't like talking about death. Celebrate life instead! Be positive!
While sadness is a part of life you can't avoid and you can't just run away from or ignore it, you gotta stay positive through most of it.

They're constant reminders to cherish the people close to me. I won't regret as much having not spent enough time with my loved ones.

If only life could be like a soap opera. Then people can come back from the dead and say that they faked it!
Re: Chat Thread 42: The Answer To Life, The Universe and Eve
If life were like a soap opera everyone would have amnesia.

That's just because you have been so mentally scarred over the course of you life that your brain decided to make new memories for you the last time you recovered from your amnesia. You know, to hide all of the amnesia you've always had.Deske wrote:Highly improbable as I can remember various points in life with ease. *removes hat and bubble pipe*Seth wrote:Maybe life is just a soap opera but we all keep having amnesia and forgetting we have amnesia.Punchy wrote:If life were like a soap opera everyone would have amnesia.

Don't forget aliens, they can cause amnesia and make you think you have been living a full life. When in reality last week when they visited to go fishing (hey, we are the only place in the galaxy to go fishing). They had to erase your mind when you found them

My mind certainly has an interesting idea of recreating memories. They could've been more happy and less "Can't wait for this to end"

Re: Chat Thread 42: The Answer To Life, The Universe and Eve
can you remember every single day you've been alive? Amnesia doesn't always make you forget everything, just a certain period. So technically we all do have selective amnesia specific to days that nothing interesting happened that we get after a few weeks or even days.Deske wrote:Highly improbable as I can remember various points in life with ease. *removes hat and bubble pipe*

Isn't amnesia usually from a point back? At least the one most people think, retrograde?RandomGeekNamedBrent wrote:can you remember every single day you've been alive? Yeah but they could be giving us selective amnesia or implanting memories in our heads.

actually no, the idea that it's always the loss of everything before a certain point is a misunderstanding perpetuated mainly by Hollywood.Deske wrote:Isn't amnesia usually from a point back? Wikipedia wrote:Amnesia (from Greek ἀμνησία from ἀ- meaning "without" and μνήμη memory), also known as amnesic syndrome, is a deficit in memory caused by brain damage, disease, or psychological trauma.[1] Amnesia can also be caused temporarily by the use of various sedatives and hypnotic drugs. Essentially, amnesia is loss of memory. The memory can be either wholly or partially lost due to the extent of damage that was caused.[2] There are two main types of amnesia: retrograde amnesia and anterograde amnesia. Retrograde amnesia is the inability to retrieve information that was acquired before a particular date, usually the date of an accident or operation.[3] In some cases the memory loss can extend back decades, while in others the person may lose only a few months of memory.

No matter how tempting it may be, as a DM I can't both present a problem and solve it.
Every time a DMPC or NPC fixes something a payer couldn't i'm diminishing and undermining that player's contribution.

So it's still from a point back. It just stops at another point.

Memory loss can be long-term or short-term. Some people lose the ability to store new memories. Others lose already-stored memories (or at least the ability to recall them).

Well then its a good thing they broke up in 2012.
Though they only had 2 songs in the US. Amnesia was the one that wasn't successful.

I never really followed music until about 2004. All this '90s music from my childhood I can barely even match with artists. XP

That's exactly me. That, and playing the original Guitar Hero. I was reluctant at first but that got me started!
A lot of my early music was just songs I liked from Guitar Hero and songs iTunes recommended based on what I already had. I've since moved to buying whole albums a lot. Single songs kinda make me cringe!

Being motivated to remember things... now that sucks in life. I can't even recall if that's amnesia or not, just a will to not learn or remember anything.

And in the news, I had to take my mother to the hospital. Thankfully not the same ****** hospital that sent her cousin home after falling down the stairs.

Singles can be fun. Though I prefer to buy a full album unless it's a trashy guilty pleasure I hear at parties or on the radio.Sleet wrote:That's exactly me. That, and playing the original Guitar Hero. I was reluctant at first but that got me started!

Or whatever you meant is actually flying high over my head.
I tried Lemonwire when it was still around for music, still it was sketchy as hell and the bit rates were tinyyyy.

My mom used to listen to cassette tapes of a bunch of old, slightly more obscure songs, so I started with things like Talking Heads and other groups of that ilk. plus a few one hit wonders.Sleet wrote:That's exactly me. Styx was what I "inherited" from my mom, in a similar fashion. I still really like them.

Regarding what I said earlier, amnesia and stubbornness come hand in hand with memory. some of the things that I tragically began to learn is that people are just so stubborn that they refuse to remember certain things.
Back to the good topic now, though - My mom listens to a lot of old country music and pop. Michael Jackson especially. my stepdad likes western. Gee, I wonder why? =P

We'lł vote on a name. Since 42 is a significant one, we went with the title we have, but the runner up was "The Good Ol' Forumites' Club" - that's my entry for the next one.
Douglas isn't my real name, but because of a name block put on me by a higher-order being known as Djinni, I can't say my real name.
