While you're saying that, why not say "Just like a lot of electronic music"? It's all in individual taste. What most people don't realize is that the "lyrics" in Daft Punk's music are part of the beat.

Also, Sunburst, if the repetition is what bothers you, I'd recommend listening to some of their live stuff. They mix their tracks so it's not always the same thing.

Because I wouldn't like to make a claim as if I've listened to tons of electronic music and thus would know about "a lot of" electronic music.

Understandable. And I hope you don't take what I'm saying personally. I'm just a raving fanboy sticking up for his favorite band. I really do think you should give their live music a chance, though. Even I prefer it over their studio recordings.

Yeah, he's listed as their second lead singer, and actually sings most of their chorus'.

Personally I am a great fan of music, though I generally dislike the genre of Rap viewing it as nothing more than words being spoken quickly with no true rhythm and feel for the musical instruments playing in the background. Though I love instrumental (or classical music as it is more commonly referred to) pieces very dearly.

My favourite composer is Frédéric François Chopin, whose works I find full of great presence and emotion. When the game Eternal Sonata was released I was overjoyed by the use of his character and his pieces throughout the story of the game. I feel I should inform everyone that Mr Chopin suffered greatly throughout his life and his works show his feeling beautifully, through those hardships he faced. Here is a link to one of my more preferred pieces should anyone take interest: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ZUw78FXpG4

Eeeee! I love Chopin too! Recognize my signature?

I also really liked Eternal Sonata, though they kind of dropped the ball with the Chopin theme like a quarter of the way through the game until picking it back up for the very end.

Also, that's one of my favorite pieces too, and so far the only Chopin piece I can play decently. Are you familiar with the band Muse? They incorporate it into United States of Eurasia on their most recent album.

EDIT: I'm not a big fan of the rubato interpretation of the coda in that video.

No I am not familiar with that band but after listening to the link you sent, I've gained an ineterst. I can't say I'm quite a fan because of how they suddenly changed their pace when I was expecting it to flow in the same manner as Nocturn, but I guess thats the price to be paid.

Well the first part is faster and is mostly its own song entirely that references the chord progression, but the second part is taken almost exactly from the original, just with light accompaniment and slight variations in the right hand. That part flows like the original.

(S)he did say "generally."

Though when you say "words being spoken quickly with no true rhythm and feel for the musical instruments playing in the background," you're really only describing bad rap. Rhythm is critical to the genre and these rappers who just add racial slurs to the end of unrelated sentences so they all rhyme with each other are doing it completely wrong. And often there aren't even any musical instruments in the background. Just a drum machine and a looped sample. The sad thing is that's what's popular. Hence why so many people dislike rap; they aren't familiar with the good stuff because they only hear the bad and then don't feel the desire to discover anything else.

This is coming from someone who isn't exactly a rap fan.

I believe you might be overeacting a little there. I'm sure we'll be fine, its just one difference of opinion, I may not like Rap but I don't condemn anyone who listens to it. One of my reasons for not liking it is actually because of the people that listen to it. I understand they like it but at 09:30pm I find that I'd rather sit on a bus in silence. The amazing part is they weren't even drunk, at least then it would have made then seem as though they had very little to no control over some of their actions.

From my experiences, if you dislike a genre just because of the kinds of people who listen to it, you've got nothing left to like but classical music. Then again, pompous elitists... So, basically every genre has its own type of unpleasant fans; the trick is to ignore them and avoid being like them when you enjoy a genre. I love metal but that doesn't mean I'm not the nonviolent prude I am. Hate the fans, not the music.

Little Weapon by Lupe Fiasco is a fantastic rap song, but I won't link it due to language (only two words, though). It made me think, "why am I loving this? I don't even like rap!"

Depending on what those words are and context, it's probably PG13. PG13 is schizo like that.

One of them is pretty bad, so I'm going to lean on the side of caution here.

But it's not at all a dirty song aside from those two words, so I recommend YouTube.

EDIT: fine. Here it is. You have been properly warned.
