Re: Forum Rules
The above examples are not exhaustive and are intended to provide a general feeling of what would not be acceptable. If in doubt, ask a moderator for clarification on whether something is 'creepy.'

Re: Forum Rules
I am quite sure that idea would be frowned upon my the moderators. Most here feel they are just great friends. You can make a friendship bar though.

Re: Forum Rules
You wouldn't get kicked off, but you would be politely asked to change your banner.
It's really awesome that you came here and asked first, though. I like you. :3

Re: Forum Rules
Rules updated.
Changing around the wording because going in one direction it was confusing and unhelpful, and we ended up ignoring a lot of it anyway. I'm still hanging onto the rule that you shouldn't designate couples with a / or an x though; partly because it's the sort of thing that makes people assume un-PG-13 things, and partly because I think it's dumb.[*] Shipping IS allowed with the following caveat: No threads specifically about shipping, as they can quickly degenerate into arguing and creepiness. Do not make threads discussing your favorite pairing. It is acceptable to discuss romantic couplings in the current comic thread and the role playing and fan fiction sections in the context of comic discussion, a role playing adventure, fan art, or fan fiction.

I agree that it's dumb and I don't use those anyway, nor will I break the rules by doing so here, but I am still in the dark about how it makes people assume un-PG-13 things.rickgriffin wrote:I'm still hanging onto the rule that you shouldn't designate couples with a / or an x though; partly because it's the sort of thing that makes people assume un-PG-13 things, and partly because I think it's dumb.
If "I want your puppies" doesn't, how do arbitrary symbols?

Re: Forum Rules
It's just that when one hears that term, because it is used so often as such, they assume it means an un-PG-13 fiction.
besides, I much prefer the name combination and such that we use here. much more clever.

Re: Forum Rules
Apparently the "Do not go native" sig bar image has a counter part with a certain someone as a replacement on it. Would that be questionable as well? (Actually I don't want to really use it but it's just too funny not to mention especially King's whited eyed shock at the mental image)FlintTheSquirrel wrote:I am quite sure that idea would be frowned upon my the moderators. Re: Forum Rules
one question:
in my ficcie, I used the word ar-se-nal (sorry for the spelling, it would have been censored again otherwise). Why was it ****ed? I mean, it doesn't sound like a cuss or some other 'bad' word.
Thank you.

Re: Forum Rules
It's because a part of that word is not allowed, but I can see how that it's not a word needing to be censored.

Re: Forum Rules
to be more clear, the first syllable is synonymous with a certain pronunciation of a word that is synonymous with another word for butt.
Re: Forum Rules
What ends up happening is that the word filter is kinda stupid. Unless given specific instructions, a swear in a part of a word can get the whole word censored, even if that word is perfectly fine to use. Generally, if something like that happens, just tell one of the mods to talk to Rick about it, or talk to Rick. Rick's pretty much the only one with control over the filter.

Re: Forum Rules
Ok
I thought that, by signaling it here, someone among the mods would take care of the matter.

Re: Forum Rules
Regarding the filter:- Must the censored word consist of only asterisks? As in, could one post something like, "Holy SH@#%&!!" and, "oh F@#$%&!!" Or would that be considered avoidence, becos' the first letter(s) are still shown....?

Re: Forum Rules
I'd consider it avoidance. We really prefer you completely obliterate the word with asterisks.

Re: Forum Rules
You're welcome to use other symbols but you should obliterate the whole word. "&$@%" is an acceptable alternative to ****. "L#&@" is not.
