This year's Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON for short) was held in Côte d'Ivoire. The host nation finished 3rd in their group with only one win and two losses, so they sacked their manager, thinking they were out of the competition. But at the end of the group stages, two 3rd-place teams performed even worse than Côte d'Ivoire which meant they were qualified for the Round of 16 (24 teams participate in the tournament in 6 groups, beside the best two teams, four 3rd-placed teams can also reach the next round based on their performances). Côte d'Ivoire then beat Senegal, Mali and Congo DR in the knockout stages with a caretaker manager at the helm, then defeated Nigeria in the finals, thus winning the AFCON despite finishing 3rd in their group and sacking their manager in the middle of the tournament

There's a town in Hungary called 'Pápa'. The Pope is also called 'Pápa' in Hungarian. 'Pápá' is a synonym for 'Goodbye' mainly used by or around small children. The sentence 'The Pope waves goodbye in Pápa' sounds fairly normal in English, but if you translate it to Hungarian, you can get this nightmare: 'A pápa Pápán pápát integet'

Because of the 3 official languages, the national railway company in Switzerland has a different acronym for each language and they are all displayed on the side of the trains. These three acronyms are SBB (Schweizerische Bundesbahnen, German), CFF (Chemins de fer fédéraux suisses, French) and FFS (Ferrovie Federale Svizzere, Italian)
