Sabrina seems to have ways to influence the facts
in ways that soon end up with a hurt Max.
In this case though, the Grape love did flow,
to wrest the phone and so his hand cracks.
It's not like he was begging too much
from the magic girl who once chucked
his feelings in the bin. He needs tribute
(more than a boot) and thought he'd lucked
in here. He had the chance to meet a prince
but has it been taken by his purple lady?
Will he have to 'force' himself to be hers
or will Grape get up to something shady?
Will Jata note something fishy whilst sniffing?
Will we ever get a straight plot from Mr. Griffin?

In this, Sabrina is showing honest protectiveness toward Fido: She *could* tell Jata that the doggie is her BF, but that could cause problems to Fido if it slipped out (especially considering Jata got K9U security with sharp ears). Plus, she surely couldn't tell Jata that she was engaged, before, because his father would intercept any form of communication between the two.
(Or Jata may have taboo issues himself, so better just to lie outright and tell him she went for city cats now)

I'm betting right now this ends one of two ways; Sabrina is going to have to admit that Grape and her are not dating, and that she did it because her real boyfriend can't come forward because of various reasons. Which will lead to Ralph (or someone else on the force) suspecting shes dating Fido (maybe due to the whole thing last strip or other things the comic just didn't show), and they might confront him and he will deny it. Or Fido will come forward after said admission and reveal it to everyone.

However, if this strips end was just for gag effect, and Grape isn't actually going to pretend to be a boy and date Sabrina, and its Max who does it; I could also see it being pulled off, but maybe rekindle old feelings for either Sabrina or Max. Though it could still go either of the above two ways with Max as well.

Wait, Grape is gonna pretend to be Sabrina's boyfriend. If I wasn't on the edge of my seat about this arc before, I certainly am now.

It's nice to see Maxwell has his own (albeit oddly shaped) cel phone. One of my favorite moments from the 'Down on the Farm' arc was Grape on the phone talking to Max's Dad saying "No, I'd like to speak to your cat, please."
