Oh how weird the world would seem if we believed everything on TV.
Quite honestly, I would be willing to try bee larvae.

It only gets weird when people start licking them. At least, that's what I'm always told. X3

I've tried eyeballs, Fish eyeballs, THey'r not the worst thing in the world... just salty... and a bit gummy/chewy.

I've also seen some odd Japanese game shows... like Silent Library... and a few others I won't mention (*ahem*)
(although if anyone here has ever heard of "hole in the wall" on Cartoon network, They copied that completely from a Japanese game show that was the same, but better)

But yeah some ppl are weird about things that are the norm in different countries and cultures, it depends on who you are as well and if you are willing to go to some "extremes" to try new things; with me, it depends on what those extremes are...

I would guess there would be some specialty shops that would sell what he needs.

The policy I like to have with 'weird' foods is that if it's normal for some culture, it's probably worth a try.

I actually really like the taste of cephalopod. Not had the eyeballs alone though.

I like watching some game shows, though not many. I am surprised some obscure manga was not referenced though!!

I agree! There's a shop here where I buy just for those occasions where I want to have something a bit 'off menu'.

On their defense, they were Jews and therefore couldn't eat squid, because that's not part of the kosher diet.
Also, they were allergic to bees.

This really reminds me of the short book "How to be an alien", written by a Hungarian after living abroad in England for some years. He later expressed dissapointment over most british readers of said book finding it amusing, with only one throwing it into a fireplace.

Only had flavored crickets, and that was from a museum. I can only guess that it would be hard to find.

Yeah, same here. Calamari and squid I've found can be really good.

I'm not a fan of Sushi, but I know it is a great dish for people who like raw stuff, think of it like British tea (Sterotypicly obvious right?) Some may love it, others may hate it, bit like Marmite.

Also Takeshi's castle is a brilliant old Japanese gameshow.

It's good to see Itsuki again. Pity it's just a one-off.

I would probably have taken him at face value too, but more on the basis that he's a raccoon Tanuki.
I've no clue what raccoons eat even less idea what a 'Tanuki' would eat.
Even for a raccoon Tanuki I'd figure it was a special subset of tastes, but when I go to foreign countries I often miss the good Norwegian cheese - that doesn't mean I live on a cheese-focused diet, just that I'd like some cheese now and then and 'processed' cheese just isn't the same.

Some other characters I'd like to see again (and the number of strips that character has appeared in to date):
Snow (4 strips)
Natalie (4 strips)
Jessica (10 strips, all of them in Arc 73)
Custom Ink (5 strips, all of them in Arc 73)

In the case of Snow, I'd like to see her feature prominently in at least one arc. I just think that that might be interesting to see.

He does have a point, just because it's foreign doesn't mean that it's weird/funny on accident. They just know how to make you remember it and keep watching better.
Plus, squid eye and bee larvae sushi, I might actually try that.

Anyway, while I personally would not try squid eyes or bee larvae, I wouldn't knock people for eating them. Heck, I eat muffin wrappers. (Only when they're on a muffin or cupcake, of course. What else am I supposed to do, waste the flavor?)

Lolz. I cant relate to this problem, cause where I live, Japan is the norm.

They find Japanese game shows so weird because Western reality TV is all they got - take it as a compliment =P
