I am guessing, based on current knowledge, that he died in his sleep. Being transported so many times has left him not wondering when he wakes up in another spot, so dying in his sleep would make the most sense.

Finally the penny's dropped
about whose clogs have gone and popped;
Keene's gone into forever station;
if he weren't dead he'd be killed by the revelation.
The Chimera, the Jabberwock, the Gryphon and the Ferret;
most have reached eternal bliss on Merit
but, as Keene's hardly a known Samaritan,
he's probably here as part of a plan.
Offering God a deal on earthly things?
Holidays and gifts, possessions and rings?
Will the little guy help the heavenly host
reconnect with those they miss most?
Will he find out what he's doing here,
this week? This month? This... year?

You think you would easily remember the most terrifying moment of your life: Your death. I wonder how he missed that or if he is not really dead but the other ferrets don't know why he's there.

I hope that Chimera is a key player in this story line and not just a background character.

Umm... My mind may still be in denial, but I have a hard time believing this is the case.
1. We don't know how he died, so how do we know he's just here as some ethics thing with The Game?
2. If he died in his sleep, presumably age, wouldn't that mean his siblings would be there since they'd be of the same age?

Telling him he's dead could very well simply be an assumption on Breel & Co.'s part. Doesn't mean that's how he got here. (King and Fox came up here, too, and they didn't need to die.)

But I'm sure it'll be confirmed eventually, one way or the other. I'm sure Keene will ask how he died, since he obviously forgot (if he did).

I still have my money on Steward smothering him with a pillow.

I don't think steward would do that. And, this kind of is confirmation, I mean, he walked into an official building that probably has all of the paperwork and stuff so they would know when they told him, wouldn't they?

Changing forms is fairly easy for anyone in Heaven. Dragon and Bahamut also changed forms. Even Fox was able to make himself look more buff.

Wait, are you referring to Pete? He was able to shape shift before and after getting a ban. I think they change depending on what works. Quadrapedal/feral for serious things, bipedal for casual. At least, that's how Kitsune, Dragon, and Pete seemed to work it. Cerberus has not been shown with a quadrapedal look and Bahamut seemed to do it differently.

No, I'm referring to the chimera at the bottom left, if he's from the fan comic tsMKG mentioned earlier then he was banned from heaven and most of his power was taken away from him.
