The gallery is never updated and apparently there aren't any threads about this, so let's make one!
Basically post anything Housepets! related by Rick that he's shared in other places like twitter, deviantart etc.

Same. Rick is a very good artist. Though at this point I'm just stating the obvious.

You can find other Rick's Housepets! art in his Tumblr account called Rick's Sketchbook, that I can't link here because it contains also NSFW art.

Here's the new one he drew, it's amazing see this couple with his anthro style! :D King is always cute, but Bailey is so stunning now... :P

You should probably host this in imgur, photobucket has become quite awful.

As much as I actually like Rick's normal style, it should stay out of the normal comic. Non-cannon things like these are fine, but it wouldn't be good for the comic to be done in this style. For one thing, it would take a LOT longer to draw the entire comic with this much detail. Second, while I don't think it really is "inappropriate" and it's sfw, it isn't something I can really show to friends, family, or other people I know without things getting awkward. I like that I can show this comic to people without being judged. As such, I'm going with NaF on this and saying this would not be a good style for Housepets!

Please no. XP The pictures are neat, but I like Housepets being cartoony, not sultry.

I'm fair confident these models are just Rick feeling frisky, not a prelude to a radical physiological overhaul of the strip, let alone a massive shift in story tone and topics that such characters would invite. I admit, I think they're remarkable depictions. I wouldn't mind seeing some of the other couples similarly configured - Fido and Sabrina, say, or Fox and Sasha - for example, but as artistic explorations or caricatures of the characters. I'd no more want to see Housepets gang "mature" than see Charlie Brown and the Peanut's kids turned into realistic adolescents.

Besides, CyberDragon, you're entirely right about how much more work it would demand from Rick to use these models. Regards.

Sinder, stop trying to get Rick to launch nukes. =3

They are cool, but it's uncanny. It's like Housepets meets Archie comics or Saved by the Bell. Still cool, though.

while well drawn, the styles clash. the faces look too simplified on bodies like that. i would expect some hint of where the less obvious facial details are.

You just wanna see Joey and his nerdy friends in this form.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't curious on everyone else, too. I sometimes like seeing alternate styles, and it's cool that it's coming from the original author. Tarot was sort of unexpected, though.

Agreed. With a cast of over sixty, that would be herculean.

wait, so a major character like Grape gets her face drawn in a way that clashes with the level of detail, but someone as minor as Sabrina gets done right? WHAT?

Grape and Peanut look always cool. :) The two ferrets are so cute. :D The two girls look great and charming. ;) Tarot's belly is nice, and Sabrina looks younger than she seemed. :P Fox and Mungo are perfectly buff. :)
It's very nice see them with this style. :D Now I'd like to see also at least Maxwell and Res. :P

Actually, Sabrina's expression looks a bit vacant (missing Fido, right?) and I've never been keen (That's with only two letters "e" !) on buffering up Fox in the comic but ...hey, all in fun, eh?

Regards.

Well, Grape was just the second set, maybe Rick was getting better over time? Also, Sabrina is older than Grape, so additional details like wrinkles are not unexpected.

This ^, Fox and Mungo are masculine unlike King, Keene or Peanut. He's perfecting it real fast

King, Keene, and Peanut aren't meant to be particularly masculine. They're not big, buff guys who're into sports and stuff.

He's right, King, Peanut, and Keene are normal pets, not expected to do heavy work. Fox and Mungo, being part of a police force, are expected to be physically fit at minimum.
