What is your preferred cheese-to-sauce ratio on pizza?
I’m running a poll to prove a point to my family, what is your preferred ratio on sauce and cheese when it comes to pizza? Do you like them gushing with sauce? Do you like doubling the layers of cheese? Or do you like a balance between the two?
Me? I love saucy pizzas. I want the sauce to burst out when I take a bite.

I have to say just thinking about it that while I like sauce, I need double the cheese and pepperoni on my pizza since I'm not a fan of just plain pizza and I have pepperoni and cheese as my favorite toppings to have.

About half and half for me.

Oooh I love it when the crust is a little bit burned underneath. Just please don't make it taste like charcoal.

This forum has actual poll features. You could try applying for that.
I'm the opposite. My personal benchmark for there being too much sauce is if the sauce bursts out when I bite into a slice.JageshemashFTW wrote:Me? I love saucy pizzas. I want the sauce to burst out when I take a bite.

I love sauce but I love cheese more. Plenty of both is how I roll. I'm happy as long as stuff isn't falling off.

Same for me honestly which is why when I have tacos I leave them open because if I fold them up it comes apart and everything just falls out.

Re: What is your preferred cheese-to-sauce ratio on pizza?
For me it depends on the sauce itself. Some sauces I like a lot of, some I prefer less of. I almost always want my pizza to me smothered in cheese though.
Play The Hayseed Knight. This isn’t self promotion, I just really like the game.

Thinking about it now, I'm pretty sure I would have mine balanced also.
Re: What is your preferred cheese-to-sauce ratio on pizza?
About half ratio of cheese (only fior di latte mozzarella) and half of mashed tomatoes is the proper one for me. I like both juicy and floppy, and dry and crunchy pizzas. Simple Margherita, and mushrooms and ham are my favorite toppings. But, properly leavened dough and high oven temperature are what do the difference.
Practically you'll love the real Neapolitan pizza, then, made also in a smaller size to be eaten folded in four (a portafoglio).JageshemashFTW wrote:Me? I love saucy pizzas. I want the sauce to burst out when I take a bite.

Re: What is your preferred cheese-to-sauce ratio on pizza?
Depends on the sauce. Some kinds are over-seasoned or just a bit gross...
...but when I find one I really like I'll demand as much of it as they can possibly let me have.
And basically I love fresh tomatoes, so if they use a really flavourful sort of tomato like San Marzanos, and don't season it much, I love their sauce and want to marry it.
Oooh, and the chunkier the better!
If I have a favourite topping combo it's probably something involving ground beef and green olives... but I don't really know because the best part about pizza is trying something new every time.

While i do like tomato sauce and think that it tastes delicious, I'm not sure I would be a big fan of chunky left over tomatoes. I'm weird like that. I like ketchup, marinara and tomato soup but I HATE whole or near whole so that its chunky tomatoes.

Re: What is your preferred cheese-to-sauce ratio on pizza?
I don't have a preference on the ratio unless you overcook the pizza enough to where the crust tastes burnt. If you do that, however, I would want a ratio where you can ignore the crust.
I have ideas and I occasionally put them down.
Re: What is your preferred cheese-to-sauce ratio on pizza?
Actually, I'm the same way - probably a texture or mouth-feel thing.Amazee Dayzee wrote:While i do like tomato sauce and think that it tastes delicious, I'm not sure I would be a big fan of chunky left over tomatoes. Re: What is your preferred cheese-to-sauce ratio on pizza?
I haven't had the misfortune of chunky pizza sauce.
On a semi-related note, my preferred sauce is a cheese sauce. I have had two different cheese sauces, a ranch sauce, several different tomato sauces, barbecue sauce, and hot sauce as sauces on pizza.
How do you tell the ratio with dessert pizza?

If I ever had a dessert pizza, I would like more toppings but just a bit more than the sauce.

Oddly enough I hate ketchup. With the added sugar it tastes... not unlike tomatoes, but like some zombies Franken-tomato.
I could understand why someone who doesn't like fresh tomatoes would find it nice, though.

Me, neither. Except on Hot Dogs with yellow French's mustard, but that was a taste I acquired at the age of five.

For the longest time I thought I didn't like mustard... then I visited central Europe.
I still don't much like north american mustard. Even when I've found self-proclaimed Czech or Czech style mustard on my side of the atlantic they haven't tasted the same.

One thing that my pizza CAN'T be when I get it is DROWNING in grease. I get pizza to eat pizza, not to get a mouth full of nasty grease. Unfortunately when my father gets pizza he get's it from a local pizza shop "Pawtucket House of Pizza" who just loves to douse the dough in excess grease. For some weird reason, my father like it!

I don't think I have actually had greasy pizza. Where is the easiest and most accessible place to try greasy pizza?
I find it funny how the topic shifted to just pizza.

I don't know. Over here the pizza is from a local place (Pawtucket is where I live) and it was always covered in so much grease. I prefer Domino's or even Uncle Tony's.

The place next to where I work is like that. (I’m in Southern New Jersey) I don’t like it either. It’s a shame, really they had different management before and the pizza was much better.Amazee Dayzee wrote:One thing that my pizza CAN'T be when I get it is DROWNING in grease. I can't remember a time when Pawtucket House of Pizza was ever any really good though. When I was younger I remember my mother complaining that it was greasy then and telling my father she hated it. At that time, I wasn't at bothered as much by grease as I am now probably because I had no clue what it was.

Re: What is your preferred cheese-to-sauce ratio on pizza?
I know what grease is and I get bothered when my soup is greasy. I have still yet to have greasy pizza though.
Also, when there is a slice of ham and feta pizza, I don't want too much feta. It is a heavy topping, and it is easy to overpower the pizza with it.

I can stand a little grease if everything else is good. But if I can have it without then that's even better.
There's a small chain around town here called Za Pizza Bistro which does a really good job making good pizza without much grease.

My favorite two places to get pizza are Cici's pizza and Larry's Pizza. Larry's has decent pizza where I am, and Cici's has a constant buffet and noodles.

Re: What is your preferred cheese-to-sauce ratio on pizza?
I tend to steer clear of the franchise places.
Re: What is your preferred cheese-to-sauce ratio on pizza?
I'm a big fan of a more cheesier pizza, but I can't really have such due to my intolerance.
I usually these days prefer a balanced mix with a decent selection of different types of toppings. Nothing overall meaty or vegetarian, not too much sauce, has to be "chunky" and no thin crust.
I've never really been a fan of Domino's, but I will admit some of their creations are intriguing and thus I tolerate them (as my nieces and nephews really only like their pizzas)

I'm sorry that you can't have that much cheese on your pizza because of your intolerance. It must make the days that you can partake in them that much more better.
