Title Text: is the cookie also a metaphor?
YES IT IS METAPHORICALLY DELICIOUS, AS WELL AS ACTUALLY DELICIOUS
God required the best for sacrifices. But brown butter cookies are apparently a more than adequate substitute.

I'm not sure I'd want the pressure of pleasing God in a baking contest.

When in Heaven, unleash all hell;
give Grape something to fight about.
Even if she can only shout,
it’s better to have it out than in.
Has Max been trying a Goatee?
There’s extra fuzz there on his chin.
Is it taking time to grow in?
Perhaps he should visit Breel’s shop?
After all, it is still up there,
Ermanned by all his loyal friends.
Would they let a Cat in? Depends.
He’d have to let them lay on paws.

At the end the winner is Max, because he’s better now at getting baked- wait no

Cookies do have wonderful metaphoric possibilities. Divinities know this stuff.

Never heard of brown butter cookies before. Also, Bahamut is so big he's basically eating a crumb.

Too bad we can’t get Maxwell’s recipe, apparently they’re more than good enough for a demigod. Oh, and I love how Max and Grape are rocking those aprons.SeanWolf wrote: ↑Fri Apr 30, 2021 4:41 amNever heard of them either, but now I hunger for them.PaintedSkye wrote: ↑Fri Apr 30, 2021 1:10 am Never heard of brown butter cookies before. Even that crumb is a really big cookie given his clawtips are the size of Max's head.PaintedSkye wrote: ↑Fri Apr 30, 2021 1:10 am Never heard of brown butter cookies before. Also, Bahamut is so big he's basically eating a crumb.
Re: 2021/04/30 - Ambrosia
I believe it is established that while there is a demon on the planet, demi-gods are time-locked to that planet's perspective of time. So ignoring the less interesting answer that just doesn't apply to Bahamut, that means either Bahamat immediately dumped all of the work on Kitsune after saying they would help, or Bahamut decided to use his currently finite time during a demon invasion to do this.

I think it's fantastic that Max is showing an interest in cooking. When will he cook catnip cookies? :3

Not only that, he appears to be skilled. Maybe he took, Rufus’s advice on easing up on catnip and now bakes to feel better. Breel did say it’s what our black and grey tomcat did when he was alone, maybe it’s therapeutic for him.

Speaking of ambrosia, my mother just loves the stuff for some reason and could possibly live off of just that alone. Though she only makes it during Christmas for some reason. Guess because its a pain to make regularly?
For anybody who doesn't know, ambrosia is actually a fruit salad that consists of pineapples, oranges, miniature marshmallows, coconuts, walnuts and maraschino cherries that are folded into whipped cream.

It also appears in Greek myth as the food of the gods. While a background element, ambrosia in the HP universe looks like a hot dog. https://www.housepetscomic.com/comic/20 ... and-earth/

In Britain, it's a top brand of custard.
Re: 2021/04/30 - Ambrosia
Oh, the mighty Bahamut is the supreme judge of the cooking contest, as seems. That's a cool comparing, and I bet that, Maxwell. Eh no, there's more, Grape, he also wanted to enjoy some cookies. They're too small for him, though.

If I ever see a candy bar out when I'm doing errands that has brown butter in it, I will definitely try it.

I guess the original Heaven arc would have gone differently had Joel decided to appear as the Pillsbury Dough Boy while in Heaven. I can just imagine Bahamut habitually reaching down to poke him in the belly to hear him giggle.(If anyone cares to draw that for guest week, be my guest,as it were.)

Though I'm not sure why Joel would want to make himself appear as that as he was still getting over being unwillingly transformed and abused by Pete so when he got to Heaven he was still himself and not King until the mid-point if I remember correctly.

He changed back into a corgi pretty much as soon as they arrived in heaven.Amazee Dayzee wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 2:43 pm Though I'm not sure why Joel would want to make himself appear as that as he was still getting over being unwillingly transformed and abused by Pete so when he got to Heaven he was still himself and not King until the mid-point if I remember correctly.

My interpretation of that has always been that he liked being a dog, but just wasn't ready to admit that to himself.CunningFox wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 7:35 pmHe changed back into a corgi pretty much as soon as they arrived in heaven.Amazee Dayzee wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 2:43 pm Though I'm not sure why Joel would want to make himself appear as that as he was still getting over being unwillingly transformed and abused by Pete so when he got to Heaven he was still himself and not King until the mid-point if I remember correctly.
Especially since it would imply that Pete was right.

All of this is true but I'm not actually sure where the heck him wanting to be the Pillsbury Doughboy if he could be anything he wants in Heaven came from. That was kind of out of nowhere and has no bearing to anything.
Re: 2021/04/30 - Ambrosia
It's just a funny thought, nothing that deep. If you really want to dig for meaning though, then I guess I can't stop you.Amazee Dayzee wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 11:04 pm All of this is true but I'm not actually sure where the heck him wanting to be the Pillsbury Doughboy if he could be anything he wants in Heaven came from. Wasn't trying to look for a meaning there. Just wanted to point out that it REALLY didn't fit. Like it came out of nowhere.
Re: 2021/04/30 - Ambrosia
If everything's just one big metaphor,
Then what's heaven for?
Red pepper may be stronger than black,
But heaven has a real subtlety lack...
Brown butter cookies ARE the best,
Now to let the metaphor rest?
Sometimes when you have an epiphany,
It all makes sense, so plainly.

Re: 2021/04/30 - Ambrosia
I know this is over two years old (I can't believe the time went by so fast), But I had never heard of brown butter cookies before this strip, and it would frequently come to mind since that time. So finally last week I googled it and found a recipe and made brown butter chocolate chip cookies.
Oh.
My.
Gosh.
Definitely the best CC cookie I have ever eaten.

King looks an awful lot like my own Corgi. That's one reason why he's my favorite, but I also like his attitude.

I just posted a message on this thread about this two years too late. I made some BB chocolate chip cookies and they are AWESOME! And that is a word that I don't use casually.Amazee Dayzee wrote: ↑Sun May 02, 2021 10:14 pm This makes me want to try to make some brown butter cookies to see if they really are all that.

I will take your word for it. I don't know why you bumped a 2-year old topic just to tell me that with a double-post but I will believe you when you say they are good.
