I will just go with the obvious approach and say that she obviously doesn't trust the safety of Grape and Peanut with the ferrets.

I like how they even went through all the effort to make the sign a ferret but didn't once think that a real ferret would be unable to ride. Perhaps they also paid to have all the safety problems worked out like they tried to do with the pneumatic tubes.
