I assume this means people will hastily make the assumption that he's been courting the white lady? Copping a deuceways? Doing the "Golden Leaf Strut? Experimenting with colorful euphemisms? If not, I' love to know.

I think it's a fairly simple gag; Sasha associates the smell of 'nip with cats. King has catnip on him. So there fnar fnar.

Alex wrote:Hm.... If I recall correctly, catnip itself doesn't smell like a cat AT ALL. It's a plant, and a cat is a mammal. Or are the neighbor cats nipping so much that Sasha connects the odor of catnip with the odor of cats, because they smell like it all time?
Sasha says that because that (okay, the strip isn't directly in the comic, but maybe...). When a cat smokes, it ends up smelling catnip ... QED :geek:

Not really, considering from what I hear there aren't exactly many fursuiters here or those that go through 'fursecution'.

Okay, so with 35 minutes remaining until the next comic, where does everyone think the comic is heading? Will Sasha and King be the next Housepets! couple, giving Bino cause to be a jealous jerk? Will Fox, fed up with Bino's insensitivity toward other dogs, make a power-grab in the Good Ol' Dogs Club?

A neat ending to a christmas arc. now we know just how important King's role in the next few comics will be. Though Sasha and King snuggling was delightfully cute.

Oh, and Merry Christmas to all! I has a Golden and Forest Shirt of Housepets! and Archie Comics! Who knew!

I sure hope nobody minds that January's arc will be going back to Wolves and Ferrets and other things. I'll try to make the transition smooth.

Its hard for me to describe how I feel about King/Joel. His character is so intriguing; you disapprove of his past, but the way he approaches a new world through his old eyes is so strangely, or not so strangely, charming. All I can do is wait to see how he takes life in the next step. Plus I may have a new couple to toy with for a fanart idea :p

Rick is apparently writing one himself (is it still fanfic when the creator writes it?), so why should I muck it up?

A follow-up vet visit??
Can't think of any reason why King would need a follow-up vet visit, except for the big snip-snip.

I speculate that there's going to be quite a bit of involvement from King for awhile til new years and possibly january too. him with the dogs, him with the wolf/ferret system, and then possibly with cats (unless that's what the follow-up arc will include!)

then after all of that, it's back to good old shinanigans for awhile!

Kind of cruel really. King already tends towards depression, seems to have a selection of past traumas, and seems to be pretty emotionally fragile.

It’s not like letting him down easy - such as by substituting the phrase “we'll see how it goes" for “whoever said anything about changing you back” - and perhaps producing a blanket or bowl of something hot and saying “Merry Christmas” – after the “I’m real proud of you” would have cost Pete anything, promised anything, or changed the outcome in the slightest. It would have been a lot easier on King though.

Throwing in the bit about the vet for a Christmas present really is just being a jerk.
But over-analyzing things is half the fun!

Is this code for another transition pow?

Anyway. I don't really have any special comment about this one. I'm over my emotional connection and I think this is a perfectly good note to go out on. Yay Rick!

Oh I'm sure no one will mind and those that do can be dealt with. After all the comic has always been about more then just Peanut and Grape. Just like Star Wars is more then Luke. It's a whole universe after all.

There's a little semi vocal group who whine when a arc features very little (In their eyes) of Grape and Peanut. Some express it in more..firm terms. So for them, the latter of 2009 hasn't been as good, but then you have people who completely hate Rick not following their view point that Grape and Peanut should be together and with no one else. But you have those in every fandom. At least Rick doesn't have some of the more die hard otaku as fans, as I'm sure he would have gotten death threats and fans attempting to force him IRL to change the story.
