Eddie Van Halen is great! Definitely one of my favorite bands!
My favorite songs by them are..
Top Jimmy
Panama
Mean Street
Styx are also great. I always loved the intro to Fooling Yourself before I even knew the song was by Styx.
Renegade is another good one.

I haz one question, if anyone will answer, has anyone ever heard music from a video game and wanted to get it?

There is a great amount of games with excellent soundtrack. I bet the forumites can give you good examples, since I don't play as nearly as much games as most of them....Reconstruction wrote:I haz one question, if anyone will answer, has anyone ever heard music from a video game and wanted to get it?
But here, this is one of my favorite songs from a video game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRCtS2oYsNU
Re: Music.
All the time! Aside from the Final Fantasy soundtracks (which I think are amazing and could fill the thread with) there are so many really cool game soundtracks.Reconstruction wrote:I haz one question, if anyone will answer, has anyone ever heard music from a video game and wanted to get it?
Chrono Cross like Alex said.
Then there is Lost Odyssey
Gitaroo Man isn't terribly popular, but it has some good songs
And then we have Silent Hill and Rome Total War
Plus, there are people who make really cool remixes:
Gerudo Peeples(Zelda Remix)
The Knights Come Marching Home (Final Fantasy & Chrono Trigger Remix)
Terra In Black (FF6 Remix)
So...yeah.
I don't listen to a lot of video game music at all!
P.S. If you listen to none of the other ones, I encourage you to at least listen to the third Gitaroo Man song. It be amazing!

That series had some catchy music, indeed. I never played the games, but I watched the anime.

Ditto. I tried the games once but never really got into them too deeply.RandomGeekNamedBrent wrote:That series had some catchy music, indeed. I never played the games, but I watched the anime.
But I always liked the music in the anime. It was one of the reasons I was interested in the show to begin with.

Re: Music.
Johnathon Coulton (who wrote all the valve songs you mentioned) has written hundreds of more great songs. I suggest I feel fantastic and Code Monkey.
Most of his best songs are on that channel as well. Those are just some of my fav's.

yup, Johnathon Coulton's songs are amazing. Also, quite funny at times. I'm one of those guys who prefers Coulton singing 'Still Alive' compared to Glados as well.

Well...i actually just like the plain song "Still alive" sorry, that is the one song I don't listen to sung by Johnathan Coulton.

Re: Music.
Who likes free music? Professor Kliq makes all (or most) his music available under the Creative Commons license and releases it for download on his website.
Here are some examples of his work on Youtube:
505 Flamingo Drive
This
Nine
Crystals (An "unfinished" song on SoundCloud, one of my favorites)
Using Pandora I've found I do like music with Asian influences. Here's some of my fav's off my Asian Influences Radio
Asian Kung Fu Generation - NGS
Mucc - Libra
Yoshida Brothers - The National Anthem
Arno Elias - Walking Man (from Buddha Bar compilation album)
I also found I like some anime soundtracks, particularly "Hajime no Ippo"'s and "Neon Genesis Evangelion"'s soundtracks. (very good to play TF2 to)
Hajime no Ippo - Stand Proud
Hajime no Ippo - Sense of Tense
Hajime no Ippo, Shocking Lemon - Inner Light
Hajime no Ippo - Under Star (Great opening track)
Evangelion 1.0 - The Longest Day
Evangelion 1.0 - Mecanisme de Defense (very tense song)
Evangelion 1.0 - Angel of Doom (Who doesn't love traditional orchestras with choirs?)
Evangelion 2.0 - In My Spirit
Evangelion 2.0 - The Final Decision We All Must Take
Evangelion 2.0 - Sin From Genesis
Wow that was a lot wasn't it? Hope you check out a few of my suggestions. The best part of music is sharing it with others. Enjoy!

Contra is the hardest game, with the best 8-bit game music ever. Enjoy the rock version from Minibosses.
Megadeth - Duke Nukem
Da shootaz- Joyride (Grand theft Auto theme song.)
Syberia 2 (I recommend the game too. It's a must-have.)
Believe (The Witcher theme song)
Some songs from mafia.
The others that come to my mind were originally movie soundtracks.

Oh hai! I almost forgot to post and annoy you guys!
Anyway I love the song "Aint no rest for the wicked"
by Cage the elephant.
I got it for my Ipod, then when I heard it on the opening
of BorderLands I was like "No F-ing way!"
Then I watched a skag get mowed down by a bus

GUYS. New store in my local mall. It is amazing. Every kind of media imaginable. But I'm only talking about music now because it's the thread's topic.
Their CD selection was pretty good, but nothing special. I was sad they didn't have any Porcupine Tree CDs at all. But they had like four of DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince.
However, they also sell vinyl records. And cheap! I got:
Heart - Little Queen (1 dollar. I like Heart, but not enough that I'd have bought this if it weren't just a dollar!)
Yes - Tormato (3 dollars. Apparently it's not good. But they had it, it's cheap, and I figured it'd be neat having a Yes album on vinyl.)
Supertramp - Breakfast in America (5 dollars. Their best album!)
Kansas - Leftoverture (5 dollars. Also their best!)
And the big find...
Michael Jackson - Thriller. For five dollars. ^_^

Kansas and Supertramp, two amazing bands. I wish I had a record player. There's a place that sells used records nearby, but I don't have a player and I don't want to buy any if I can't use them.
