Can I ask something completely off topic?
So I found out that it is absolutely required for me to take a computer science class...
How hard is programming and numerical analysis for someone who has never done it before?
Never bothered to learn a computer language :I

Dude! Computer skills would be a SICK course to take!

That said, I've never taken a single class, nor do I intend to. This is because I'm not really a computer guy. I see them as the means to write stories and play games; communicate with good people like you all, and with friends over Facebook.

... but I still think knowing the insides and outsides of a computer would be a cool skill to have.

It's not very hard, but it might depend on what language you'll be learning.

I took a prerequisite course on C++ during my first year in uni, and it was a fun experience, even if it only cover the basics. (not that I remember any of it now though)
On another note, I read somewhere that Java is subpar when compared to other languages. Is this true?

It really depends on the teacher. my C++ teacher last year was boring as ****, but luckily I had learned Java from a better teacher in high school, so I knew most of what she was teaching with just a few differences.

also *glomps Kuro*

and yes, Java is a fairly basic language. other languages are better, but once you know Java, it's easier to learn better languages.

Hmm, I was asking about the performance of programs developed using the language.
My lecturer was quite nice though, even if a little boring. I do agree on a subject being interesting or not depends greatly on the educator, even more so in college.

Anyways, *hugs Brent back while falling Matrix-style* X3

The only programing I can do is Quick and Visual Basic, and a bit of C+ to program Boebots. It's sad because one of my parents teaches computer science.

Technically they're cyborgs.
David Bowie has a game preserve where he hunts them down for sustenance.
Is the game preserve neccesary you ask?
yes, because David Bowie doesn't want to be fed he wants to hunt.

He was pretty cool as the voice of Maltasar too!
Though his best role I think was when he played Tesla in The Prestige.

The Boebot is just a toy robot that one can mess around with and learn to program with. I have two of them from going to Robotics Summer Camp twice. At the camp we mostly built and raced them, but I had the smart idea to attach screwdrivers and pinching claws to them to make Battle 'David' Boebots.

I saw it for the first time a couple weeks ago

And since I'm an annoying person to watch movies with, I talked at it a lot, and at the very beginning I jokingly said that David Bowie was playing the owl. My friend just kinda paused for a moment and said "Well..."

The first hint that a movie is good is when it bests me at thinking of ways to be unrealistic.

The movie is good, but I'm trying to get the title "David Bowie Wears Pants" to catch on.

I always like the scene with the hairy feathery guys who dance around the fire and take off their heads.

Well, I discovered something saddening today thats more annoying than anything else, my friend Jaymz's band Hell Revised won't play another show with my friend Chester's band The Republicrats. A band called something Misanthropy has a large fanbase at my school, and when they left most of the crowd left so Chester went on a rant when his band stated playing about how they are just plain rude since a lot of them showed up just to see Misanthropy. Now, the school is split between Misanthropy and The Republicrats including Jaymz's band, half of them are for Misanthropy, and the other half are on the Republicrats side, so its annoying to say the leadt because they are both enjoyable bands. Don't you hate stupid stuff like this?

My friends actually assigned roles and ad libbed a redubbing of a muted Star Trek (the newest movie). It wasn't bad.

Speaking of, what did you think of the movie? I thought it was enjoyable enough, but I'm a bit of a heretic because I have more experience with Abrams than I do with Star Trek.
Sleet wrote:High school drama. Grr.
That's more interesting than most high school drama at least, though still as pointless.

That's what we did when we watched the original Back to the Future, since we'd all seen it. Had to shut up for Parts II and III, though.
Except our commentary was 78% snark and 22% "Pea throws out bits of Back to the Future trivia".

We almost did that with New Moon at my friends birthday party, but it was to disorganized and we were playing it on fast forward because we wanted it to be as quick as possible.
We ended up shutting it off after about five minutes.

I thought the movie was pretty good, but I never saw the show before.

Our dub was pretty amusing in places, such as my friend doing Uhura or whatever her name is sounding increasingly ethnic as it went on, until Kirk gives her an order, over which my friend dubbed immediately "Stop being racist." Which was met with a regular-voiced "Yes sir.", and her speaking normally for the rest of the movie. Or Nero becoming completely irrelevant to the plot.
