Re: Photography Thread
I got a new camera two weeks ago! It's a Kodak Easyshare c1450. I originally bought one for my mom for Christmas (it's her first digital camera), and because I had to put in the memory card and batteries before I wrapped it, I got to test it out. I discovered that it was the solution to my other camera: the Kodak can take pictures indoors and leave the photo true to the real-world color. My Samsung turned everyone and everything a nasty carrot-orange tinge when taking pictures inside.
However, this Kodak is definitely NOT a camera I would recommend for an aspiring photographer. It takes horrible long distance shots, the close-ups aren't that great, and the clarity (the little details you see when you zoom in- like freckles on humans and fur on animals) is fairly bad. The focus isn't great either.
But for the Black Friday deal of $49 at Wal-Mart, I also bought one for myself. I honestly only bought it for when I go to indoor events (like small parties) and I want the color in my pictures to come out accurately. It takes very nice "I'm at a party and I just want some quick, yet fairly clear and clean, pictures of everyone" shots. Don't buy it if you want super-clear photos that can practically serve as professional portraits, though. I have yet to test it in areas like a gymnasium or auditorium, although I will do that soon.
I am definitely staying with my Samsung (I can't remember the model name at the moment) for my outdoor pictures, close-ups, and long distance shots though.

Re: Photography Thread
The tinge your referring to is the lights usally indoors and honestly, your better off just using Lightroom or Photoshop or some equivalent to fix the color temperature yourself than trying to get a camera that does it. Even my 60d pulls that sometimes, especially with longer exposures. It just happens unless you can control the lighting of a area.

Some of my convention portraits
Re: Photography Thread
I am well aware that it is the lighting. However, it was so bad that no editing program would clear it up. I've tried multiple options, believe me. Even if I don't always know the correct vocabulary, I at least know the basics of different camera functions and other aspects of photography. Thank you for the advice, though.EarlMadness wrote:The tinge your referring to is the lights usally indoors and honestly, your better off just using Lightroom or Photoshop or some equivalent to fix the color temperature yourself than trying to get a camera that does it. The place is normally filled up by a market. It looks so empty right now in comparison, giving myself an emotional feeling.

I updated my photobucket with some new flower shots and some pictures of the NC Biltmore Estate from my U.S. History field trip this past November. The photos from Biltmore were taken with my cell phone. O3O

I haven't really had any photographing opportunities as of late. These were the best shots (that didn't have other people in them) I could scrounge up from the past few months.

Re: Photography Thread
The other day I took a few random extremely close-up shots of objects with my phone. I modified the lens to allow me to adjust focus.
Here's one of another iPhone camera lens that i pulled from my for-parts iPhone.
Here's a tiny shell that my little sister found and gave me somewhere at a coast of miami.
And here's a close up on jeans. o 3o
I'd take more pictures but I had run out of ideas. It's so cool. x3 I just wish I had a better camera. A 4MM sensor doesn't get much quality!

You ever wonder what happens when I get bored?
This... This happens.
In case it's not obvious, I'm talking about the stack consisting of a lava lamp, a pirouline can, and a box of crayons, with a hanger hanging off the side.

Re: Photography Thread
Asked because there are many artifacts on this picture. Color goes to yellows, pixels can be visible and it's loosing sharpness.

If you look up in this thread, you'll see a pic I took of my local marketplace (empty). That was with a Blackberry Curve 8520.

Yes, I saw But as a photographer, I'll give you an advice: never take a shot when sun is in front. Always do that when it's behind your back.44R0NM10 wrote:If you look up in this thread, you'll see a pic I took of my local marketplace (empty). That was with a Blackberry Curve 8520.
Why? First, when sun is in front, whatever you want to show by photo is covered by shadows. Second, you loose details and your object is loosing plasticity, making everything flat.
And I can still see pixels there ;p But no worries, cameras build in phones and other similar things are not supposed to be good.

Sometimes, there's no choice. Further, it's not really necessary to critique everyone's work or their camera. If people request this, excellent. Otherwise, it's best not to.Karlos wrote:...I'll give you an advice: never take a shot when sun is in front. Always do that when it's behind your back.

My intention was not to criticize someone. I'm a photographer who learns how to be a professional and I only wanted to share my knowledge and help people who like to take pictures. I'm sorry if my words were taken wrong.

If I wasn't used to critique, I wouldn't post my stuff on the internet . Thanks for the advice, though I'm never trying to be a photographer. Not my passion, hehe.Karlos wrote:My intention was not to criticize someone. I gladly accept constructive criticism. I'm always looking for ways to improve my shots. These photos, however, were not meant to look professional by any means V.
Not really much to look at, but it gives you an idea of my life for the past two months:

Re: Photography Thread
Your first problem is that your Still Life photos have chaotic backgrounds. When you want to show something, it's important for this thing to be clearly visible. When background is chaotic, the person who looks at your photo cannot focus on main target. For example, the first photo of roses. Problem is glass surrounding everywhere, therefore I cannot focus on the rose in center because all other that surrounds it is disturbing. Also second photo has chaotic background too because of the cat and bowl of cereal.Beagle wrote:I gladly accept constructive criticism. I'm always looking for ways to improve my shots. Second is sharpness, but there's nothing you can do since you have a cellphone that has much lower quality than basic digital camera. So your photos will lack on sharpness (photo with egg, first two photo with roses). Also there's nothing you can do with exposure.
Third is about other two photos from party. They actually don't show anything interesting. Would be more interesting if there was someone dancing or spilling some drink over his fancy dress. But I believe that those photos were actually to show to friends how was interior during
What kind of cellphone you use?

Re: Photography Thread
@Karlos- I appreciate the advice, but it's honestly not anything I did not already know. When I take photos with my cell phone, it's just a crude way to create a digital trail of where I have been and what I've done for the past few months. These photos, I wasn't really looking for advice about.Beagle wrote:I gladly accept constructive criticism. I'm always looking for ways to improve my shots. Also, I would hope setting up prom wouldn't be too hectic or crazy. After all, that was just a quick shot so I could text Sleet and show her how the decorating was going. So yes, you guessed the purpose correctly.
I use the Samsung Reality, which came out in early 2010. Yes, my phone is getting old.
So y'all. I'm at the beach, and I got some awesome shots at sunrise. I'll upload them later this week after I ditch the sketchy wi-fi connection here.

I kept in mind that your photos have no professional means. But you also asked for constructive criticism. So I gave you one

Change of mind: I prefer to not have constructive criticism with my photography.
Also, beach photos! I finally got around to moving the files from my dad's computer into my own.
http://s919.photobucket.com/albums/ad35 ... ch%202012/
And these are 16 photos out of 119. There was no way in heck I was uploading all of them. XD Also, some photos involved family and friends, sooooooo... yeah.
EDIT: Guys, my photobucket account is going to be deleted in 48 hours. Someone on a blogspot account in Finland started using one of my photos (the one of a shelf in my room) on their blog. I have tried my best to track and contact this person, but I cannot find he/she and I just can't stand to know if my photography is being stolen or credited at all.
I was going to show y'all a printscreen of the activity, but I got the "Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached." message.
Anyways, all my photobucket is showing is: jannnakka.blogspot.fi and if there's anything else to it, it cuts off the rest of the URL.
Hey, if anyone wants to help me find this person, by all means, PM me!

Great pics all! Cm4f - I love close-up / macro shots, keep it up!
Going to try posting a few really old photos I took back in the day (you know, THAT day... yea).
Click on each to make big! (my first attempt at using picasa, so tell me if doesn't work)
Shot of socialized arctic wolf with beer can. LONG exposure river in Yellowstone with MOON overhead. Hot springs at Yellowstone.
