I don't think I've ever really felt bad for Bino, until now. Poor Bino.
Congratulations, Rick - if you were trying to elicit sympathy for a fictional antagonistic character, you have succeeded.

Douglas isn't my real name, but because of a name block put on me by a higher-order being known as Djinni, I can't say my real name.

Sooo... how many times has Bino been to the pound?Jeff wrote:So what bender were you on this time?
And I love how insignificant his quest to become a "real" wolf turns out to be. Though at least he was the first to start off a big fad
Re: 2015/03/30 - Pound Puppy
Ok now I just feel bad for him, all of this for nothing ...
Now Bino, let's be cool about this

Am I the only one who noticed that this would have been the perfect time to reveal Bino and Max's surname?
Re: 2015/03/30 - Pound Puppy
Wow, Max, good catch there.
Also, panel four is the look of your hopes and dreams crumbling right before your eyes.

Should I feel bad that I still can't get his name right?
Pretty cool they got his collar back. Shame the whole becoming a wolf thing didn't work out (he did get to be called one, right?), oh well, whatever I suppose, at least he can't say he was band-wagoner.

Ouch. xD Poor Bino. He should seriously consider becoming a good dog. Maybe then pain, failure, and humiliation wouldn't plague him so much.

I just bet 'dad' had to tell Max that he couldn't bringa camera.
It's the way of Max's dreams,
to catch his brother in a cage.
He's thought it, he's hoped it,
it's the joke that'll never age.
He knows the truth of Duchie too
but, then, he knows all on strong girls;
first Sabrina and then the great Grape,
strong girls mean your head whirls.
So many Dogs are becoming Wolves
it seems Bino's started a trend;
the face shows his reaction here -
when will my bad luck end?

Alas, poor pound clerk, you are here only for a fleeting moment, your one chance at the spotlight, and you aren't even shown and your name isn't even capitalized. Although Bino may be unfortunate, let us not forget the real victim: pound clerk...
I thought about changing my signature but decided against it, it's too much work!

Wow, the pound must be a pretty terrible place - they didn't even issue him a temporary collar to cover his neck.

And lets not forget he also left Max locked out in a rainy night, Jeff doesnt look like a really caring Dad/Owner.Xane wrote: [...] I guess Jeff is more like a regular pet owner than a Dad (Zap!)[...]
Poor Bino, I wonder if one of the other dogs succeed and became a wolf.
Re: 2015/03/30 - Pound Puppy
I wonder if that collar is the same one Jack took? Doubt it, but it would explain how easy it is to recover it from Cory. =P
Guess Bino doesn't take the parent system seriously. That, or as someone mentioned earlier, Jeff might not actually be a pet owner. That would be an interesting twist. Huh.
It's always great to see Bino and Max interact. <3
Lastly, If Bino gets bailed here at times, I wonder if Max is in the same boat as well? I'm taking a guess he did, but that was before he started dating Grape.

I see a couple people talking about Jeff, saying stuff like "more of a real pet-owner" or "not like a dad", stuff like that. They bring up how he put a shock collar on Bino and locked Max out during the rain.
I would like to point at that both Bino and Max are rebellious, and deserve discipline. Bino's shock collar is a classic form of discipline for pets. And about Max being locked out there are 2 possibilities.
1, he was just accidentally locked out since he roams in the night so often.
2, Jeff locked him out as a way of disciplining him since he goes out at night so often.

Well he may be married and maybe he only became Bino and Max's owner because they were his wife's. If this is true then he might resent them and their antics.SuperStar wrote:I see a couple people talking about Jeff, saying stuff like "more of a real pet-owner" or "not like a dad", stuff like that. I'm less sympathetic now than last strip. "This time"? Really? I would have thought Max would be the one overly familiar with the pound.Douglas Collier wrote:Congratulations, Rick - if you were trying to elicit sympathy for a fictional antagonistic character, you have succeeded.

3. He was intentionally locked out BECAUSE he roams in the night so often. Not out of negligence or malice, or even discipline, but on the assumption that he wouldn't be back until morning anyway.SuperStar wrote:I see a couple people talking about Jeff, saying stuff like "more of a real pet-owner" or "not like a dad", stuff like that. Of course, I myself was of the opinion that the situation in n-ple Date was contrived by Max as an excuse to spend the night with Grape.

Max should be allowed to say that! It's technically correct! Bino, you have no right to look at him like that!Mickey wrote:Max, did you just call Duchess a b-

Think of it this way, it means Bino still has influence over other dogs. He tries to become a wolf and gets arrested, and now all the other dogs are becoming wolves.
Re: 2015/03/30 - Pound Puppy
Bail and fine have different meanings. Bail implies he's going to have to go to court to determine his guilt and define punishment.

Just imagine all of the others dogs handling Bruno on sneaking up on a bird of prey (possibly Skip). Do you their chances of succeeding are higher than Bino?
I'm not worried about the whole sniff test, I'm pretty sure that they got that one right.

Read that as "Max is Smaug" at first, and you know that scene with Smaug and Bilbo is awful like a cat playing with a mouse.

Re: 2015/03/30 - Pound Puppy
Bino apparently isn't that smart. He didn't think to CALL Jeff to tell him he was in the pound? That's nice. Also, I though Fox or Fido would have told Jerry about his predicament. They probably figured that Bino would be smart enough to call Jeff himself. And when he didn't, he should have told him. Unless this was their way of teaching him a lesson and if that is true, they are ********. And either Max deleted the message if Bino DID call or Jeff (who I already think is a *****) ignored it until a week later.
Bino might have deserved to be arrested, but Fox, Fido, Max and Jeff don't come out looking good as well.

Re: 2015/03/30 - Pound Puppy
So Bino is so stupid... He didn't ask for a phone call, fox to tell his dad, or know how to trace a smell without the "help" of a hawk who says he needs to lose weight...

Re: 2015/03/30 - Pound Puppy
Poor Bino, got a rest in the jail. At least, it has been a rest after what he suffered, and your dad gave you a new collar. Was better for you if you did what Max said, Bino. Become a wolf is the new fad of every dog? Well, now that's an idea to throw away, no more original and worth... Then, Miles isn't believing you to have mounted on an eagle (of course).

Q: What's the quickest way to get people to like a previously antagonistic character?
A: Actually do to him what the fans recently thought he deserved.
