What Americans call "English muffins," English people call "American muffins."
Nobody wants to claim that muffin.

What people in Frankfurt call a Wiener Würstchen is absolutely the same thing that people in Vienna (Wien) call a Frankfurter Würstchen (->).

English people seriously call them "American Muffins"? I just thought they called them crumpets or something like that!

Oh, no, crumpets are very different. I don't really know how to explain them... They look a bit like sponges. They taste delicious with Vegemite though!
Re: Useless Information Thread
But American English Muffins are good, especially with eggs...
Goldeneye 007 for the N64 is actually multiple different games. There is a fully functional ZX Spectrum emulator in the Goldeneye 007 data. It was part of a side project to see if the N64 could run ZX Spectrum games, and it was during the development of Goldeneye. They decided to test it, and then remove the programing required to launch the emulator from the games data. There are edited versions of the game on the internet that have been made so this emulator can be launched.

Canadian English, Australian English, American English, British English, and Pidgin English are considered (by some) separate languages.

You can buy Vegemite here in Canada! At least where I live, it's an acquired taste, but still pretty good actually.

Oh, Pidgin English is very different to English. It's definitely a separate language. Canadian/Australian/British/American English are probably more properly called dialects. They are all teh same language, just slightly different ways of doing it. Pidgin, however, has a completely different set of words and grammar rules.GreatKitsune wrote:Canadian English, Australian English, American English, British English, and Pidgin English are considered (by some) separate languages.

I agree as far as Pidgin goes. But I still found this fact humorous because there's almost no notable difference between American English and Canadian English.Hlaoroo wrote:Oh, Pidgin English is very different to English. Re: Useless Information Thread
A pidgin is a simplified version of a language meant to enable communication between two groups that don't share a language. For example, when Westerners arrived in China to trade and couldn't speak Mandarin, they came up with an on-the-spot form of English that had less complicated grammar and pronounciations more friendly to the Chinese tongue. Three became "sri" and so forth. This first Pidgin English gave the name for all others.

Today marks the 100th anniversary of the Dardanelles Campaign.
It was a campaign of WWI that took place on the Gallipoli peninsula between 25 April 1915 and 9 January 1916.
In Australia and New Zealand this day is known as "Anzac Day" which is the most significant commemoration of military casualties and veterans in those two countries.

I'm sure some of you have heard of Vocaloids but did you know there are furry ones as well? From what I've gathered this place is the main site for a least one of them.

they are not actually vocaloids, as they don't use the same software. they are made in UTAU, which is freeware and allows users to make their own voice banks.
essentially, the Furloids are fan made Vocaloids. but here is a list of a bunch of them

The short "Mickey and the Beanstalk" was the last time Walt Disney would voice Mickey Mouse. His smocking habit would cause his voice to be unable to reach the high pitch tone Mickey was famous for.

Edith Piaf was a French singer, who sang songs and sang them until the end of her singing days.
Edit: One of her songs, Non, Je ne regrette rien (No, I regret nothing), forms the basis for the Inception soundtrack.

No matter how tempting it may be, as a DM I can't both present a problem and solve it.
Every time a DMPC or NPC fixes something a payer couldn't i'm diminishing and undermining that player's contribution.

A gun with a silencer attached sounds about as loud as a car door being slammed. It’s much quieter than the usual “bang!” but it’s not as subtle as the little “whoosh” heard in James Bond films.

The term "suppressor" is preferred for this reason. "Silencer" is kinda inaccurate. The important part is it doesn't make a muzzle flash.
