Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
I like the idea of having several pets investigating independently or in small groups. I can't see the spy carrying much information with him though. That would be far too dangerous if he was caught. I can see him following Juan and Palgrave but I can't see him actually getting into Juan's house. He could try to listen near a window but he'd want to look inconspicuous while doing it so I don't think he'd sit and take notes. Besides, in this day and age it would be very usual for a sailor to be able to read or write so even that would attract suspicion.
@Argent: Tell me more about Isabella. The pets should definitely visit her too.

Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
She's a fox, she's owned by the most powerful man in town, and one of the richest, she's named after a popular queen of the previous century. It's no wonder things have gone a bit to her head, except that in that time an place that was known as acting your part. She's not exactly Duchess... she's not driven to compete and put everyone down because she's already the biggest fish in the pond and everyone knows it.

Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
Of course! Welcome back, Roarin! Cedric addressed Rhyme before Blacks put on a show and that's as far as we've gotten.
We're also brainstorming ideas about an arc about a spy to keep us on the island for a while. If you've any ideas we'd love to hear them!
Does anyone have anything else they want to get done for today?
How is Blacks enjoying having his leg/side scratched to pieces by drunk rats, Hotep?

Well, I was drawing this out a bit so we can work out the spy arc and use that to start the day. If you want to start the day with some unrelated shenanigans until we're ready for the spy then that's fine too though. Up to you guys what you want. Let me know and I'll get the day started.Hotep the psychic wrote:However roo, shouldnt we start the next day?

Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
Well, I had an idea for the whole spy arc... Since my characters are new, and looking for work. Maybe the spy, I don't know, runs into Rufus or Aurora and the spy offers a proposition... Or if there are rumors of a spy, and since my characters are new, well, maybe they get suspected diverting attention from the real spy. I don't know, just brainstorming...
Oh, and I'm fine going to the next day.

Ooh, red herrings and a frame job! I like it!
There can be a frantic scramble to prove who the real spy is before Rufus and Aurora get punished!

Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
Sounds good, it could be after some minor tasks that palgrave sends the pets out to do allowing the spy to work and ready himself. But what would cause the spy to need the help?
Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
Spies? Sounds like fun. Though it'd be a question as to why the captain would send pets to investigate tho. Would it something like... "It'd be to conspicuous to send my men" or are we going the, "We'll help without him knowing" route?

Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
If Rufus and aurora work for the spy they wont know it, my problem now is how that would unfold.
Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
The spy pondered how he was going to get the plans to Senor Blanco. The town was crawling with Spanish sailors from the Segura, and he was sure they were watching out for him. Hold on, that animal... nobody would suspect a dog rummaging around behind his contact's house!

Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
The spy is already on the island as a regular person on the island, id say since iys morning he could do that after getting his new list from his contact and have rufus and aurora scout some captains. Then later whilw the spy himself follows one hed have his encounter with palgrave, sound good roo?

Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
I could see Aurora running a brief errand for him. Rufus not so much because no one asks an adult to run errands. That's a child's job. I can't see either of them agreeing to scout out captains for the spy though. I mean, that would make it dead obvious what he was doing and then they wouldn't trust him as far as they could throw him.

Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
Eh, it was just an idea... But I guess if we're going with it... Well, Rufus is in town looking for a way to get work before their money runs out, and they are already desperate... And maybe the spy approaches him with a proposition, and as he is doing the task he is caught while the spy is busy doing the real work because he used my characters as decoys...

Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
@Hotep: Thanks.
@Civ: The trouble is that if Rufus works for the spy then he becomes a spy himself and will have to suffer the same punishment when the spy is caught.
When I said "red herrings" I was thinking more along the lines of the spy setting someone up to take the fall for him. Maybe slipping some paperwork into a person's pocket or hammock or creating dissent or suspicion among the sailors. That sort of thing.

Paper slipping sounds like a good idea to help him escape. Then the pets could find the truth with the 17th century fox a bit later.

Yeah, I know what you meant, just trying to brainstorm here...Hlaoroo wrote:@Civ: The trouble is that if Rufus works for the spy then he becomes a spy himself and will have to suffer the same punishment when the spy is caught.

If we're going with this route then this would probably be the best way to go...Hotep the psychic wrote:Paper slipping sounds like a good idea to help him escape. Then the pets could find the truth with the 17th century fox a bit later.

Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
So s I see it it'll work like so.
1. New day starts, palgrave sets pets and crew to different tasks.
2. Introduce spy some while pets are in town and have the spy give aurora a job to do. Meanwhile goes on to do his real job.
3. After finishing the pets and crew rejoin at port, palgrave and few others go see 17th century Fox and its owner for a meeting, on the way palgrave bumps into the spy causing papers to fall as he walks off or not.
4. Pets chat with Fox to lapse time some to find that the meeting is to be the same night, aurora finishes e task and returns to the spy with Rufus causing me suspicion.
And on so forth....
Right?

Well doing a basic plan like that gives us direction and freedom at the same time. We can make things work however feels right at the time and we're not scripting anything.

Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
Was just reading up on the slave trade, and the first slave ship to the Caribbean was in 1526, so there's another possible source for African animal species. Of course the status of animals in the 17CF universe is already similar to the status of slaves in our history, African animals (particularly big cats) being larger - human sized - would be able to do jobs European and New World animals weren't capable of.

Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
Waiting for a few more posts before I continue, didn't want to be like, Aurora made it all the way through town without anyone else doing much... But if you or Hotep are going to introduce that spy I give permission to say that you find Aurora walking through town or something with Rufus being in some inn/tavern whatever to along that line for that paper slipping or whatever else that could happen... Otherwise I'm just waiting until the next part of a post of just going through town looking for anything of interest.Hlaoroo wrote:In other news, where is everyone?
