It's very sweet how supportive Peanut can be.

Am I the only one who finds is weird that every single couple uses the term "hon"?

Yay! Peanut is really actually being Tarot's boyfriend!
Douglas isn't my real name, but because of a name block put on me by a higher-order being known as Djinni, I can't say my real name.
Re: 2015/09/30 - Communication Without Communing
Is it the first time we get to see Tarot a little bit vulnerable ? I think so, and its great seeing Peanut being supportive

Ah being able to be supportive and yet still tease your girlfriend. How nice of you Peanut
Re: 2015/09/30 - Communication Without Communing
And then Maxwell and Peanut have something in common at the end of this arc. :3
This is no doubt something any boyfriend would do, but seeing Peanut offering his shoulder for her is exactly the kind of thinking I would've expected him to do sometime down the road. Glad to see him put it to good use at this time <3

Really? I've experienced that it's a rather common term, though I will admit, I don't hear it too often from couples that are still in the dating phase. I've also heard it as a term of endearment for someone younger than you of the opposite gender. Or is that last part just me?SuperStar wrote:Am I the only one who finds is weird that every single couple uses the term "hon"?
Anyway, love this strip. We finally see Peanut being supportive. He is trying to lighten the mood, too. Though that should be used with discretion, not everyone who is feeling down will appreciate that kind of joke.

I think it's more common in the southern US, which happens to be where Rick is from, so he puts it into the comic.D-Rock wrote:Really? A Peanut special comic. Some growth, some Goof.
When your boyfriend is such a goof,
it helps to look like a phloof.
When your boyfriend turns to his game,
it helps to try and stay sane.
When your boyfriend tries to grow up
It helps to show he's no pup.
When your boyfriend starts to listen
it helps to show eyes glisten.
When your boyfriend comes to your side
it helps to show love implied.
When your boyfriend is called Peanut
it helps to get you from a rut...

Re: 2015/09/30 - Communication Without Communing
Hon is a universally English romantic term for couples through both dating and marriage. It's usually a nice term to add to the couple if they plan on sticking with one another for awhile, especially if they started saying it early in their dating career.
Maxwell, Sasha and Bino were the only other pets I recall that said it, but knowing Sasha and Bino, they thought of it as a cute term rather than romantic. Maxwell said it once, but it was more mean-spirited than romantic, sadly.

Fido and Sabrina have used it, King and Bailey, and Peanut and Tarot have used it before too(during the PsyCon).GameCobra wrote:Maxwell, Sasha and Bino were the only other pets I recall that said it, but knowing Sasha and Bino, they thought of it as a cute term rather than romantic. I've always considered "hon" a sort of generic term of endearment. (It's derived from "honey," obviously.) Most of my friends and I use the term in relation to one another.

I know you like to be an adorable prankster, Peanut, but when someone's being emotionally vulnerable for you is not the time.
Good on you for being there, though.

Well i for one have never heard it come from anything other than a television or monitor so i always thought it was a 'hollywood word' (IE: doesn't exist outside of fiction).Dissension wrote:I've always considered "hon" a sort of generic term of endearment. Most important thing I've learned from D&D?
No matter how tempting it may be, as a DM I can't both present a problem and solve it.
Every time a DMPC or NPC fixes something a payer couldn't i'm diminishing and undermining that player's contribution.

I agree I have only heard it in movies and TV shows between married couples. And in those instances it is used ALOT.Buster wrote:Well i for one have never heard it come from anything other than a television or monitor so i always thought it was a 'hollywood word' (IE: doesn't exist outside of fiction).Dissension wrote:I've always considered "hon" a sort of generic term of endearment. I still hear it quite a bit at work between couples and some neighbours. Hon is just generally accepted around here I find to be the most committing comment to a loved one... or the one to mess with people's heads. X3

It's not that I think "hon" is weird, or unrealistic or anything, it's just that everyone in the comic uses it, it sort of lacks diversity.

Love means...
Getting away with yanking your Significant Other's chain now and then. This particularly becomes a question of Serious versus Metaphorical when you're both dogs...
On the 'Hon' question:
My parents still called each other 'Hon' after 57 years of marriage, until the day my Dad passed away. My ex-girlfriend, her roommate (my current lady friend) and I all address each other as 'Babe'. It's just something the ex's family does (as in, "Hey, Babe").

False; Rodney and Snow use completely different terms of endearment, as is evidenced in this strip.SuperStar wrote:I don't mean every single couple, but rather every single couple in the Housepets! comic.

Aww, finally Peanut is showing caring for Tarot! But until a certain point, he won't never change totally... Poor Tarot needs an hug, get your mind free for some time. It's great to offer your support, Peanut, but come on, keep away that console for once... Do it right now that the battery is finally over! Ah, what a jerk you are with that joke! Don't get worse, pup. Do it literally, Tarot! Learn from Grape on how she treats Peanut when is necessary.

Daww Peanut, your so sweat. I always forget that most of the charactors are fairly mature, i mean we've known peanut since he was practically a pup, and years later here he is all grown up. i wonder if were going to see more of Tarrot and Peanuts relationship evolving here....
...
...
...
...OMG I JUST REALIZED! Pete and Dragon's fats have yet to be revieled, and i belive Rick said he didnt make then Bailys pups because that would be too unfair to Baily, (if someone knows where that was said and post link, that would be great) and that there fates were in the works for a future story ( i could be paraphraising here)
Anyway, Peanut and Tarrot are having an evolving relationship in much the same way as King and Baily did. I predict more puppys in the comming future and many shinanagins inbound and omg the evil smile accross my face right now.
