Do You Consider Yourself a Furry?

Re: Do You Consider Yourself a Furry?
Well then, on the topic of family friendly furry(alliteration!), the new Sentai series coming this year is called Animal Sentai Zyuohger(translates to Beast-Kinger) features a race of animal people known as the Zyumen. Four of the main characters are Zyumen.
The white, Amu, is a tiger. The yellow, Leo, is a lion. The blue, Sela, is a shark. And finally the green ranger, Tusk, is an elephant.

Re: Do You Consider Yourself a Furry?
Well, Doggy came straight from the Sentai series, but I'm sure we'll still get regular teenagers in the adaptation.
Re: Do You Consider Yourself a Furry?
Probably so, considering that the Zyumen do have the ability to take on human forms due to their King's Cubes.D-Rock wrote:Well, Doggy came straight from the Sentai series, but I'm sure we'll still get regular teenagers in the adaptation.

Anyone notice that most furry publishers seem absent from some comic and anime cons?

Well they're pretty niche. Why would they go there when they could go to a furry convention instead? Most "furry artists," whether visual artists, writers, etc., don't make much of an effort to appeal to non-furries.

Yup. And it seems that no matter how many times Uncle Kage has gone and said that the fandom isn't about that stuff at all and how me and other furries say it isn't about that stuff, many still think furry is just a fetish.JonnyNova wrote:I think the worst thing about all this is that because the dark side of the fandom is the only side that anyone outside the fandom recognizes, that's the main part that grows. That's gotten to the point that NSFW content has almost taken over the fandom. People have mentioned Zootopia as a positive example of furries in pop culture, but from what I've heard people are already ruining that, with the majority of fanart being NSFW. The stigma of furries just making porn out of everything is actually true in many cases. I know that "many" doesn't mean "all," but if that's become the norm for the fandom, then who's to say they're wrong? What if things like Housepets are the exceptions to the rule? Trust me, I hate the fact that when I first told my friends I was a furry, it led to a half hour explanation of how I'm not one of those furries. I don't want to see amazing things like Housepets or SaveState or all of the incredible artists who have emerged from the furry fandom become outcasts. I want to be optimistic that Zootopia can change people's minds, but if anyone becomes interested in the furry fandom because of Zootopia, then the first thing they'll probably do is look at things related to Zootopia. There's a strong chance they'll just get scared away by what they find, which further reinforces the negative image of the fandom.
Sorry to be so negative about the subject, but I guess I'm just a pessimist at heart.

I follow Radio Comix publisher Elin Winkler-Suarez on Tumblr and she and the Radio Comix crew regularly attend anime and comic cons. Of course Radio Comix also publishes manga as well as furry comics.Foxyfluff wrote:Anyone notice that most furry publishers seem absent from some comic and anime cons?

I'm no longer able to attend any cons on the mainland.

Unable to get to the mainland?
Re: Do You Consider Yourself a Furry?
The full Japanese name is Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger. And when they transform, they are again in the typical "Power Ranger" form.SuperStar wrote:Well then, on the topic of family friendly furry(alliteration!), the new Sentai series coming this year is called Animal Sentai Zyuohger(translates to Beast-Kinger) features a race of animal people known as the Zyumen. I wonder if the American adaptation will attempt to use CGI...
Of course, we won't know this for a while, since Power Rangers is two years behind Super Sentai. Ninninger is supposed to be adapted in 2017.

I've always admired the Japanese fursuiters in all media. I guess it's because their fursuits look more natural?

You say typical "Power Ranger" form, but Sentai came first, so it's typical "Super Sentai" form,Kitch wrote:The full Japanese name is Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger. Re: Do You Consider Yourself a Furry?
This is an anime that crosses over to both the anime and furry fandoms.
This is a screenshot from the anime "Wild Knights Gulkeeva" (aka "Wild Knights Gulkeeva" and "Beast Warriors Gulkeeva"). It features four anthropomorphic characters. That picture is of Greyfus the wolf. It was never officially released in the West. A fan in Australia has uploaded it onto youtube in a fan subbed version.
It even has fangirls.

Most important thing I've learned from D&D?
No matter how tempting it may be, as a DM I can't both present a problem and solve it.
Every time a DMPC or NPC fixes something a payer couldn't i'm diminishing and undermining that player's contribution.

It's the leaf hair that makes me think of a floran.
Also, the heck is that thing they're holding? do they morph my solving a rubix cube now?

And, sort of. Yes, that is there henshin device, but they don't morph by solving it. Moving a certain part of it activates a different effect(morphing, summoning the mecha, combining the mecha, etc.). It's sort of a rubix cube because the show has a slight video-game theme going on, so... cubes. Y'know, like pixels.

So what if they just mix it around randomly like a Rubik's Cube? Just make a million things happen at random?

Well it's not a full out rubix cube, so it doesn't have that many options. This can give you a better idea how it works, http://ukiyaseed.weebly.com/ukiyaseeds- ... s-revealedSleet wrote:So what if they just mix it around randomly like a Rubik's Cube? Just make a million things happen at random?

Yes and No, I'm not fully into all things furry, but I enjoy a majority of the artwork and comics that come of it.
So yes I'm still on the fence about it.

You don't have to enjoy EVERYTHING about being a furry to be a furry.

Re: Do You Consider Yourself a Furry?
I enjoy the artwork and web comics, but I do not consider myself a furry.
Re: Do You Consider Yourself a Furry?
And also is important the percentage of furry things you do compared to other things you do.
Like let's say, someone enjoys furry things but is also otaku and by a larger percentage (let's say 25% furry and 65% otaku)

You don't really have to classify yourself as anything. You can like some furry things and not a whole lot of other things to be a furry. You don't have to be connected to EVERYTHING if you are one.

Re: Do You Consider Yourself a Furry?
The way I'm viewing it is what I consider to define being a furry and whether I fit my own definition or not. So, although I say I am a furry some people may say I'm not. So, I've gone and made made my own little castle where the fence used to be.
My tree now has a café in it. Yay?

I consider myself a furry because I like the art and because I have a fursona (see avatar) and I'm learning how to draw anthros/furries.

I don't think there's a limit to what kinds of fans people can be. Someone can be into anthropomorphism, and anime, and baseball, and Halo, for instance.tsMKG wrote:And also is important the percentage of furry things you do compared to other things you do.

yeah, I'm a furry, a brony, a Whovian, a fan of steven universe, and I'm in a bunch of other fandoms. these things alone don't define who you are, just what you like. and you can like many things.
Re: Do You Consider Yourself a Furry?
The fact that there can be a "furry" anime, or a furry version of Who, is proof enough that you don't have to be ?% furry or otaku. Sure, you can be more of an otaku than a furry, but percentage isn't exactly a thing. You know?
